I love this question. it really got me thinking about where I had first seen/heard about corgis.... I think I first saw one on a dog show on tv. Something just clicked. I don't know what it was but I knew I had to have one. It has been several years and several rescue dogs later, and I finally have my Corgi! I swear it's the little short legs! Is that crazy or what? I look at my little Mia and when she turns over for tummy rub and has those little tiny legs up in the air I just melt! I sound like a new mama don't I? hee hee
im glad you like it, i have seen that no one has asked and was really curious to see what made everyone fall in love with corgis:) i know what you mean about the just clicking. theres just something about corgis that other dogs just dont seem to fill lol and its not crazy that u love the little legs:) there the cutest legs ever! being so short with pig paws lol
My girlfriend (Now Wife) found them at horse shows and fell in love with them. When I first met Checkers (MIL's dog) he was the cutest dog I had ever seen. Then My wife got Courtney so when I got married I got a Corgi and a wife. Love them more and more each day.
when my daughter and I went to see my Dad's border collie at an agility event. We got there early; they start with the short er dogs and raise up the obstacles as they get to the taller dogs. Since we were early, we were able to watch these adorable amazing little dogs fly across the course...it was love at first sight for both of us! We spent the next 3+ years searching before we found Sidney.
my son and his wife have a corgi, named cowboy, and i thought he was sooo wonderful ..i knew if i ever got another dog thats the breed id get... well it happened sooner than i realized and now im hooked~!!
I too had seen them at a dog show in Ft Worth TX and also read the Rita Mae Brown books with Tee Tucker. So when I got my first girl she was name Tee Tucker, the next one 4 years later was a redheaded try whom I named Miss Murphie (I know, the cat in the series is name that but it fit her perfectly). Well, five years later we have another one. A tricolored boy named Owen (Tuckers brother in the books). He is 10 weeks old and has is as stubborn as Murphie was. Luv him to death. He has just one ear up now and is so cute.

he is so adorable!!! =D and what is funny i also read those books. there are pretty good
This is a great question. I grew up with German Shepherds and was always around herding dogs, but never knew a corgi. I was never interested in small dogs because I associated them with only lap dogs or terriers. Then suddenly I met a neighbor's corgi, saw some at a dog show, met some more corgis at the barn where I keep my horse, and the next thing I knew, I REALLY wanted one. It took awhile, but we finally got our corgi, and she is everything I wanted. The upright ears, the smile, the adorable short but very sturdy legs, the beautiful coloring, the sense of humor, the opinionated attitude coupled with a high level of trainability, the playfulness & joy they exhibit, the fact that they bond with their people but love everyone... I could go on and on.
lol you are right. thats what i really love about them. love there family's but also are friendly to other people and thats what i really looking for when choosing a dog and who can resist those cute faces! :) lol im glad you like the question, i was just so curious what brought us all to love this particular breed. she is very pretty, i love the strip between her eyes:)
I always wanted a small dog.. i knew i needed an active one though... But i loved the long body short legged dogs... so at first i wanted a weiner dog... that shortly fell through after i met my friends mini weiner dog i mean dont get me wrong i still love that breed but they werent a truely 'active' dog... I had a Border collie mix at one point and he got me thinking so i started doing research on dogs and breeds then one day when i was at the beach with our Golden mix me and her almost 'tripped' over this lady's corgi Buffy got all excited and wanted to play and I couldnt help but think of how adorible they were... then early last year a lady came through my work and had a Corgi patch on her shirt I told her i was interested in teh breed and she gave me her card. After that i did more research and saw this pic of this one particular puppy for sale... and then it was settled... thatsmile took my heart and that puppy was coming home.. Thats how i got Ace... i ended up running into that lady again one day when i was waiting for my moms physical therapy to be over and Ace and I were walking around and she started asking me questions on how old he was... she told me he was smaller then her 9 week olds that got me wondering if her 9 week olds were even corgis but i laughed it off.. i now have a healthy 24lbs Corgi and would never trade him for anything... though i would like to adopt another so he could have a Buddy to play wiht

When I was around 12-years-old, I visited a low-key pet store about every two weeks to pick up bird food because I had owned parakeets at the time. I often browsed through the puppies they had in the kennels (I would NEVER get one from there, but I was curious, and they were all cute of course), and I saw a Pembroke Corgi sitting down, watching people go past him. I kneeled down, and made the decision to play with in the back room just to see his temperament. Without getting into a long story, I absolutely loved him. I only saw him once after that, and he was bought pretty quickly.

Six years later, once I finally had my own apartment, I decided I want my own dog. The choice was obvious since I always thought back to that Corgi I played with. I've never seen Corgi's in Las Vegas (when I lived there), so whenever I saw one on TV or in commercials, I was astounded and got giddy. Two months prior of getting my own Corgi, my boyfriend and I went to the Corgi Faire in Dixon, CA. There we met tons of great dogs, puppies, and owners. We were particularly fond of this 13-week-old puppy -- named Gus. We played with him and snuggled him for a good 20-25 minutes! The owner told us that the breeder still had two puppies left, and I was already convinced. Gus had the perfect temperament, coat, and was already smart at that young of age. Several weeks later of talking to the breeder, we bought Gus' brother. Caius acts just like Gus!

aww that is very touching:) its amazing how we all fall in love with this amazing breed. i love your story! im glad u got the corgi that u have long waited for and how it all feel into place of how u got him
