Welcome Denise, Max and your son. I began reading your "Permission to Mother and "The Days after Parting." It resonated with me, as I lost my amazing mother 2 years ago, at age 94. I loved her, valued her, and I still feel guilt at her passing. I will post some photos of my corgi, Lucy and my cat, Calli, who never left her side when she moved in with us. They recognized she was dying when my husband (a physician) & I were blinded by denial. But, you can't fool a corgi or a cat!
