We have a nice dog park in Kaukauna with a shelter and a pond! There are 3 parts to it. One smaller area for little dogs, one larger play area, and the pond area. the three are seperately fenced but adjoin each other with gates opening into each other. Its very nice, in the spring they can get a little muddy and stinky tho! They enjoy it, but bring towels for your car! I think a doggy wash would do a land office biz there!

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it,but just North of Janesville on Hwy 26  is a very nice fenced in dog park.  But up in Northeast WI is plenty of dog friendly parts with shelters.  But it sounds like most of  you are from the Janesville area.

Hi Lori,  We're from Janesville also, the Paw Print Park does not have a shelter, Palmer Park has off leash trails (pretty extnesive as there are many options for which way to go) some of them lead down to the river and doggies could swim there.   We were going there most days during the summer / fall.  It can get pretty muddy when it's been raining, not sure how the trails are in the winter, if you could even find some of them in the snow.  Again, the shelter is in the area where dogs are not allowed.  THere is a huge open grassy area by the old tennis courts where the doggies can run around, but not sure if that would work or not.

I'm from Janesville, I don't think any of the parks have fenced in areas, but I haven't been to the dog park, when we're out that way I'll take a look.

There are several nice dog parks in Dane County, but I don't think any have shelters, unless Indian Lake does (?) Does anyone know? It would be great to find a place where the doggies could swim. Where do most of the folks in this group live?

No, there aren't any shelters in that park. There are picnic tables by the river in a couple of spots. Mostly, it's longer than it is wide. Gee, now that I think about it, maybe it wouldn't be the ideal place since there are no shelters.

I don't think Stoughten is too far from Janesville. I tried to find a number to call and ask some questions about Viking Park but all I found was a general e-mail address for Dane County Parks so I will see what they reply. Do you know if there is a shelter in the park that we would have to rent?
