One more thought. My first rescue, Michaelangelo, became increasingly more fearful of fireworks and "falling skies" as he got older. I probably got drugs for him when he was about 7 years old. Talk to your vet about doggie-valium. (Internet warns that "ACE" only immobilizes dog, leaving dog concerned/fearful but unable to respond by running and hiding. Ask for doggie-valium.)

YES! Better living through chemistry. Talk to your vet. Angus get doggie-valium for fireworks (and thunderstorms when I have enough advance warning). Without drugs, Angus hides behind the toilet tank, wedged in under tank/between toilet and wall. for big thunderstorms. When he's in that position, there's nothing I can do to comfort him. For "small" thunderstorms, the Thunder-shirt works pretty well.

We're trying the "thunder shirt", highly recommended by one of my co-workers. It seemed effective during the first thunderstorm but it was a short-lived mini-storm. Anybody else have success with a thunder shirt?

Petie has gotten over his storm phobia. He can't hear loud noises anymore. I would think he would still get anxious during a storm, but not so. The lightening causes him no problems. Sad that he has lost his hearing, but spring in Indiana no longer causes him any anxiety.

Leena is afraid of vacuum cleaners, keys and anything she cannot see up close (freaked out when she saw two people sitting by the river as we were walking by)

Ein appears to fearless however is easily afraid of silly objects such as a specimen starfish, corgi cookie cutter and an exercise ball. lol!

Yes, I love it: it travels under furniture, into corners, captures gallons of corgi-fur, and does a more patient and thorough job than I do. I've ever given these as housewarming gifts. And no, I have no connection to iRobot.)

Kiba is afraid of the vacuum cleaner, trash and grocery bags, loud yelling of any kind (I can be playing a game and yell, or even be talking to someone in another room and he cowards away towards his crate), and some breeds of dogs (German Shepards mainly since he was chased by one as a baby). At least those are the things I have seen so far. But isn't afraid of being at the top of a waterfall and look over the edge...such a silly dog. lol

Korey is afraid of vacuum cleaners, trash cans, trash bags, hair dryers, my flat iron, garden hoses, nail clippers, my hairbrush (if I point it at her XD), mops, brooms, & numerous other things that I can't think of offhand. O.o
