Camden was thrilled to be at the vet as usual. And no, that is not sarcasm, he really does love going to the vet. In his excitement, Camden actually forgot about his leg. He was pulling on his leash as hard as he could. Once we got him calmed down, the doctor did a physical exam. Camden was quiet all the way through it until the doctor made him spread eagle. He didn't like that much. We also got some x-rays.
Thankfully, Camden has no damage to his ACL or ligaments. His hips and joints look fine. Thank goodness for that. Though there weren't any fractures, his did appear to have a chip on his left tibia. That was the only possible cause identified for his discomfort. The doctor gave him an injection and sent me home with some Rimadyl. I'm supposed to call back tomorrow or Friday with an update.
Camden actually got quite a few compliments from his vet about his appearance, temperament, and his strength (especially in his legs). Even after the x-rays and injection, Camden didn't want to leave. He laid down in the middle of the surgery doorway in order to visit more with all of the staff. He's such a goof. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can take him to burn off some of that excess energy at the park. For now, he gets to be a couch potato.
I'm so glad that this turned out to be nothing too serious. I love my dog, and I would pay the price to help him, but it is such a relief that it isn't going to be a drawn out and expensive ordeal. I'm already in $19,000 debt (car loan, student loans, the usual). I'd pay, but I'm glad that I didn't have to. $212 is much better than $2,000.
As I finish typing this, Camden is already passed out on the kitchen floor. I love my dog.
