I'm in Grand Rapids, but would like to make it down for the meet up. When and where will the meet up be?
  • McCalls Pembroke Welsh Corgis

we will be there on the 16th=) with a new addition to our corgi family, so we will be 3 corgis, cant wait to see everyone finally!
  • Greg Doornbos-Ross

If any one from the Grand Rapids area wants to carpool, I'm willing. I'm going any way, so someone to talk to on the way would be nice! If not there's always sirius radio. :)
  • Greg

I just want to confirm, we're meeting in Ann Arbor on Sunday May 16th?
  • Gina Mac/Fergie & Minnie

    We're in for the 16th!
  • Bev Levy

    Looking forward to today!!
  • Bev Levy

Thank you Darlene for organizing the get together. It was a lot of fun to see so many corgis. Sparty and Izzy are very tired.
  • LaRissa L. Head

Thanks Everyone! Roslyn had an awesome time. ... I think she misses Gunner already!
  • Darlene Hennessy

Gunner and Gracie had a great time meeting corgi friends (although Gunner only had eyes for Roslyn!)

    Fergie found the mud puddle!

  • Gina Mac/Fergie & Minnie

Thanks for the great time. In addition to being quite smelly, Fergie was also quite tuckered on the way home, from meeting so many fun MI corgis!
  • Bev Levy

We left before Fergie found the mud puddle, lol!
  • Deidra

Paco and Erma are still pretty tuckered out! It was a great get together. Thanks everyone
  • Elizabeth Olsen

So I had to work the day of the last meet up. :( When/ where is the next one being planned for?
  • Darlene Hennessy

@Elizabeth: funny thing this morning when I woke up I thought we needed to plan another playdate :o)
How does June 19th sound for everyone? I was thinking we could go to Lansing in June, Lake Orion in July (possibly the 24th), not quite sure where in August (open to suggestions) and Bob had an idea: we can go to the Renassaince Festival in Holly in September. @ Bev: is the park you go to in Lansing the Howard and Erna park? If the July date sounds good I will post it.
  • Elizabeth Olsen

The 19th would be great! I'm already going past lansing that very day, in route to the father for Fathers Day festivities! And renfest sounds awsome! Just think of the look on their faces when all those corgis show up!
  • Greg Doornbos-Ross

How about bringing the August meet up to Grand Rapids? We have a few parks in the area.
  • Bev Levy

Oh too bad I won't be in Lansing on the 19th! I am gone that entire weekend. The parks in Lansing area are Hawk Island (that might be the one you are referring to as Howard and Erna) and the East Lansing dog park. I have not been to the Hawk Island one. The East Lansing one is OK but I rarely go there either as I don't like to go unless they have a small dog area and it does not. It is behind the East Lansing Water Park on Chandler Rd. Let me know if you need more info.
  • LaRissa L. Head

Roslyn, Nate and I won't be able to make it on the 19th :(
We are having a Michigan wedding reception up in Gaylord that weekend. I hope everyone has fun and we can all get together for more corgi fun!
  • Elizabeth Olsen

So are we meeting up on the 19th? If not july 24th sounds good to me! I actually have it off! Squee!!
  • LaRissa L. Head

The 24th of July would work for me as well.
  • Elizabeth Olsen

Wow and Lake Orion isn't all that far from me that sounds perfect!
  • Dennay & Barkley

We can't make it the 19th because of a family reunion in Caseville, but July 24th at the Orion Woods dog park would be awesome, it's a super nice and big park. I doubt anyone wants to take home a wet dog, but in case you want to let them go swimming, there are also doggie docks. There are also a bunch of picnic tables for the people to sit at:)
  • McCalls Pembroke Welsh Corgis

24th would definatly be better for us!
  • Darlene Hennessy

Hi all, Sorry about not sticking with this for the last few weeks, due to the storm we lost our 6 birch trees, our basement which has never had any water in the 12 yrs we have lived here, had a few inches of water, and so we have been cleaning up. So with all we have done we are in for the 24th of July at Orion Woods dog park. I will post it, after I get a few responses on the time most people would like. Since it is July would earlier work for anyone? How does 11 or 12 sound?
  • Chris

We may be able to make it to Orion on the 24th! Kirby and Cricket would have a ball!
  • LaRissa L. Head

The 24th sounds great to me! Roslyn can't wait!
  • Elizabeth Olsen

The 24th sounds awsome, any time of the day is fine! You tell us when to be there and we show up! lol
  • Bev Levy

Have a family affair in Traverse City on the 24th so we can not make it but hopefully we can next time because we really had fun at the last one.
  • Dennay & Barkley

Anytime of the day works fine for us:)
  • William (Willy)

    Hello corgi lovers,

My name is Jane Greenway and I am a landscape architect working for Meridian Township Parks and Recreation. I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few moments to tell me about your experiences visiting other dog parks. We are in the process of planning and designing a 7-10 acre dog park in Meridian Township (it is the Okemos, Haslett area - next to East Lansing). The dog park will go in one of our large, existing parks. We would like to design a "rustic" type of park that has mowed or gravel loop paths through tall vegetation. We will also probably have a mowed greenspace for activities such as ball throwing, frisbee, etc., and a small dog area.

We are in the process of surveying other parks and recreation departments throughout Michigan to ask them about their dog parks, but I am interested in hearing comments from the actual park users. Which parks have you visited? What were your likes/dislikes about the dog park? Have you ever visted a "rustic" type of dog park? Please respond on here or email me at greenway@meridian.mi.us. Thank you in advance! And I hope to meet some of you at the next outing! (We were at the Ann Arbor corgi party last month).

    -Jane

24th of july sounds great. We will find Orion Park i am sure. Post the time and BRUNO will be there awaiting you all. :)
  • Darlene Hennessy

  • Stephanie & Bonnie Fox

That park sounds amazing!!! I hope we can make it as it's my birthday on the 24th! Sounds like SO much fun though!
  • Chris

How many people are planning on coming this Saturday? Kirby and Cricket should be there!
  • Bev Levy

So sorry I have a family thing in Traverse City this weekend and won't be able to make it! Have a wonderful time everyone!
  • elisabeth fry

Bruno will be there. we have been going every sunday and she is now a great little swimmer. :)
    See you there <3<3<3
  • LaRissa L. Head

Roslyn is planning on attending! She can't wait to herd all her corgi friends!
  • Dennay & Barkley

    Barkley will definitely be there!
  • Darlene Hennessy

Not sure if the weather will hold up for out playdate tomorrow. 70-80% chance of rain!
  • Elizabeth Olsen

I has to work so Mina has to stay home :( huff
  • Chris

Yup, it's not looking so good :-( It's been raining for 2 days as well, so I'm guessing it's going to be quite muddy for the low-riders!
  • Darlene Hennessy

Chris I was thinking the same thing...we should reschedule...ok everyone what date looks good for y'all?
  • Pat Piotrowski

Day is good cause me and Katie are free most any weekend
  • McCalls Pembroke Welsh Corgis

Bummer:( rain always ruins the fun! I know our 3 were looking forward to today, but not in thr rain. Most any weekend works for us as long as we have a heads up:)
  • Dennay & Barkley

Sunday August 8th would work really well for us. We can do any time of the day, although the earlier in the day, the better.
