Hey guys! I've been incredibly busy this month but I may be able to carve a few hours out for Paws in the Park. We went last year and had fun. Which day is everyone going and what time?
Hey guys! I'm new to the group and currently do not own a corgi (but planning in the near future). I was wondering if you guys who were going to be at Paws in the Park would be okay if I asked a few questions about raising your corgis and meeting your little guys? Thanks~
Victoria feel free to tag along, everyone here is very friendly. Just make sure you don't leave with a corgi ;)
I got some plans this weekend, but was looking to attend Paws in the Park at some point as well. If we can get a time, then I can shuffle things around most likely.
I hope some of you make it! We will be there around 11AM Saturday and probably stay for awhile. Daisy had her first training session herding sheep and had a BLAST! I will have to fill you in on the details when we get together.
Paws in the Park is in Pearland at Independence Park Saturday and Sunday. http://www.pearlandparks.com/pawsinthepark.html They have vendors and booths set up. They also have a dock diving competition throughout the weekend and other demonstrations. I think there are look alike and costume contests too.
We went with Pudge to Paws in the Park for about 45 minutes total. It was quite the schlep to get to and they don't have a dog park at the park... it's vendors, some dock diving (which was neat to see), and some demos. But there's no shade. No fenced off area for the pups. It was disappointing for us. :( But they have adoptions and rescue groups there.
I was very disappointed too. Usually all the vendors are under the Pavilion, along with the main stage and the dockdogs is off to the side. They thought it was going to rain so they moved dock dogs inside (why? so they get less wet? so stupid!) and moved the vendors outside and moved the mainstage... oh wait, they decided to nix the main stage. So there was no contests, no working dog demos, no rescue dog show. Very annoyed. My vet was annoyed too, they paid a lot of money for their booth and then they god moved out of the main pavilion without as much as a by your leave.
We were going to stay the day but only ended up staying 2 hours because there was no place to sit that wasn't roasting and the dogs were getting overheated. I couldn't take them under the pavilion because the speakers for DockDogs were so loud they scared the puppy.
So my husband and I went out to Paws on the Park on Saturday but I think we missed everyone. Ran into one corgi owner and talk to her for a bit. So maybe next event you guys hold I'll be able to head out and meet some of you then.
I agree the Paws in the Park event was a bit disappointing and just for us standing in the heat was a bit much. So ya not enough corgis too many pugs hahaha! That is my take on Paws in the Park. :P
WOW! I'm really glad I didn't go, then. What a disappointment. But I did meet a new Corgi owner out at Bill Archer Park and pointed her in the direction of the website. Hope to see Mary Ann and Toby again really soon!
We are ready for a meet up! I can't believe it is already so hot!! Does anyone want to try to meet up next weekend on May 19th or 20th?? Please??? We are having corgi overload withdrawal!
Hey guys! I'm soooo sorry I've been MIA. My full time job at the hospital and part time baking business are keeping me crazy busy. We are also buying new house so I've been neglecting my Corgi groups :(
We all miss our furry & human friends! Keep us updated about next week and we'll try to make it if we can.
It sounds like you are busy Michelle but that is exciting about the new house! I can't wait to hear about it. The 20th would work best for me too. We probably should try to meet early because it is already so stinkin' warm out. Any input on time and place?? Last time we met at Danny Jackson on a Sunday it seemed really crowded.
Anymore votes on a time or park? Come on guys, we have had a good meet-up in awhile! Our corgis NEED each other!! Daisy and Scout are yearning to see other corgis!!! They told me so. :)
Bentley and I are free on the 20th. Early morning is always good, especially since it is hot. Just let us know which one so we will show at the right one this time! :)
I wouldn't mind Bill Archer! Can we meet at 3? I know it will be nice and warm but at least they have a good pond. I have to pick up my daughter from a weekend trip at 5 and would miss everyone.
Hey y'all... haven't be able to make it to the latest events, they keep putting me on call or I am out of town that weekend!!! I was wondering if anyone wants to have a meet up at Houston's one and only dog park / bar hybrid on Memorial Day Monday? 7pm?
No kiddos allowed. They have beer, wine and sangrias. We had a successful meet up there before. They have some awesome and diverse breeds, it's not all pitties like Danny Jackson. They usually have a food truck out front. I will post on corgiaddict / poopster to see if we can expand our mycorgi Houston crowd. :)
We had a great time at the meetup Sunday afternoon. I think we had 7 corgis. Of course, Daisy barked most of the time! :) Scout was a little gem and they were pooped out on the ride home. I will post pictures on my page soon. I would love to try to go to the Boneyard. We will be doing an agility trial in Hitchcock that day but I think we may finish early enough to get there by 7. Maybe if Daisy is pooped from agility she won't bark so much!
Daisy and Pudge can have a bark-off. :) Pudge does nothing but bark like it is going out of style. It's the only way we can find him in a crowd of dogs. I hope to meet Scout!
memorial day weekend is good for me. Radar and Kayli are ready for corgi time. Please let me know the final decision, and this time no excuses, and its CORGI time.
OK! We are on for 7pm. Will try to wear some corgi gear otherwise I am sure you all can hear Pudge from a mile away. Bring cash if you want some food from one of the awesome food trucks, but the bar itself accepts credit cards. We will try to get early to get some good tables.
Monday May 28 at 7pm to the dogs get tired (9ish?)
yea! We can finally make it! Don't forget bug spray. This will probably be our last meet up because we are moving to Wichita Falls but we are excited for Sadie to run with other corgi's
It was great to see (and hear) all the corgis. We do have a great bunch of corgi owners here in Houston. I look forward to seeing everyone the next time around. Oh, idea: having a beach outing will be fun. I took my two there and they had a blast, I buried Radar and Kayli in the sand, then called them to me, so digging out ensued. I have never seen so many people cheering for dogs to get their owner.
I was so mad I couldn't make it to the Boneyard! We had a great weekend and Memorial Day running agility and came home yesterday to a pipe leak. We had to stay and work on a temporary fix. I would LOVE a beach meetup too!!
We had so much fun at the Boneyard! It might be my favorite meet up spot because of all the seating and shade! It was great to see everyone and a huge thank you goes out to Dee for setting it up!! After our move next month I hope to have more time to devote to my precious Corgi friends again :) If anyone feels like taking the initiative to coordinate meetups I don't mind and appreciate all help! Just remind me to send a group message to help with the turnout! Bring on the beach meetup!!
Hello Houston Corgis! If you are going to the dog show at Reliant this week be sure to look for us in the agility area. We will be competing Thurs. to Sun. I am not sure what times we will be running but might have a better idea after Thursday. When we are not running we will be hanging out in the crate area behind the agility rings. I will definitely hang up my sign in the picture (but don't expect to see all those ribbons). : ) Even if we don't earn many ribbons we are sure to entertain! Scout will be there too for moral support. Here is more info on the dog show: http://reliantdogshows.com I hope some of you guys can come out!
Kara,
Sorry we missed you today! I walked around a bit in the agility area looking for you guys and finally spotted Anna with her head buried in the phone, and Daisy & Scout resting quietly. Of course I had to talk to them & Daisy got excited. I did see some ribbon action on the crates so I hope she did well or at least had a blast trying!
We were looking for Daisy too! I saw a bazillion Pemmies and only 3 terrified Cardigans in their crates waaaaay back in the "Cardigan corgi" section. We went with Pudge. He barked at ALL the dogs. And got his pictures taken for the Reliant Dog Show official 2013 spokesdog photo contest. They had some pugs and a golden, they got nothing on Pudge. :)
I would love to try to meet up this weekend too. We had a great time at the agility trial at Reliant. It was overwhelming at first with all the noise and people. Daisy seemed to feed off the excitement! She did great and got 3 first places and a new title! We were both wiped out Monday and slept in with an agility hangover! Pudge will just HAVE to be the official spokesdog next year. If they don't pick him they must be blind! I wish we could have seen you guys. I was so mad at Anna for not finding me when she saw you Michelle. We had just picked her up from summer camp the night before and she was pretty wiped out too. Hope to see everyone soon!
