Sparty and Izzy love to go camping with us! We really don't rough it though because we use a travel trailer but they love being with us 24/7 and being in new places. We camp all over Michigan. The first rule of camping is always lay in the dirt! LOL
Well, camping is done for us until next spring! However, we make most of our summer reservations six months in advance. The really nice parks fill up in minutes for summer weekends. Our first camping trip is the Tulip Festival in Holland, Mi. It is a state park on Lake Michigan that is one of the few with full hookups. You never know what the weather will be but we always enjoy it!
That should be beautiful! It's now too cold for us to go camping in our favorite spots and I refuse to go desert camping because I'm afraid of Rattlesnakes and Tarantulas! We will probably start camping again in the Spring if my husband gets drawn for Spring Turkey.
I love looking at everyones pictures with their babies!! We go camping quite a bit, with our horses. My two go with us, but Tess my girl who is kinda chubby she gets too tired to keep up so then she has to ride on the back of the horse with me. Do your corgi's like to go visit people when you camp? I have never leashed my dogs, I can walk anywhere and they are right beside me and never move but when we are camping Tess likes to go visiting. She will go a little ways and wait to see if anyone catches her, then if no one sees, she goes a little farther, waits, then makes a break for it. Then I usually find her with kids somewhere fishing or playing ball or something!! She is so different from my boy Tuff. He is very unsociable, I mean he isnt mean or anything he is just a mommas boy. haha and the animals we run across when camping! Tess is all for getting it, and so is Tuff until he gets to close and he is one of the biggest chickens ever! I can't wait for winter camping and having the two of them to keep me warm! yay!
Most parks we go to require leashes but my two really don't wander off. We have a fence we put up around our large rug so we don't have to leash them all the time. Izzy hates to be tied out and I think she goes out of her way winding it around everything in protest. If we have the dobe with us she has to be leashed. We just traded our trailer for a motor home so I can not wait for our first trip!
We let Beauregard run around when we camp. He likes to mark his territory and then patrol the perimeters :) My in-laws take their quads when we go camping and Beau has decided he is a riding dog, not a running dog like their Beagle. If you are not the lead quad, he will want to get down and run to the quad in front. :) We just got Tegan, so we haven't been able to take her camping. I'm a little worried how she will act because she has this thing with barking at and chasing cars...
Hello, all, we're from Napa, Ca. We are planning this year's camping trips. Anyone have some favorite camping sites in northern Ca. Some camping pictures on our page. Will check in often.
well,we went this last weekend(4/25).was ok 2 days, then the sky let looseon us!!
Merlin, our tri 9 month old, loveswater but the princess Keri hates it.talk about opposite personalalities. But it was a great first outing for the spring!!
lucky dogs!
we only have a tent at the moment.looking into either a 5th wheel or a rig like yours.6 more months til hubby retires!I just did 3 weeks ago!!
We haven't got our camper out of storage yet, but Kirby likes to go in the camper. Kirby also enjoys boating too. I don't have a picture of him in the camper, but our camper is small and there's only room for Kirby and his two Dads in it.
well,2nd camping trip up tp gualala river area for 5 days.at least only 2 rainy days this time!where is summer?californis isn't supposed to be this wet this late in may.
hey fellow corgi lovers!do any of my fellow campers have a trailor with steps and corgis?a little worried about that.our shakedown trip is in 3 days.thanx!!
We've camped several times with our pups and the love it! Our biggest issue is the "hoovering"- their diet is very controlled and healthy at home, but inevitably they scrounge (often they scrounge unknown items) off the ground and then it upsets their tummies.
Does anybody have a solution for this?
Also, we havne't had a chance to take them to the lake yet- though we go quite a bit in summer. How do your corgis do with swimming?
Should we get them life vests? I'm worried about the cute little stubby legs.....
Hi Elizabeth, Hermione and Luna! Your pups are so cute, and love the names. Wonder why there aren't MORE Hermiones out there! Re: swimming. My Scout loves water and swimming. But his coat is so thick (especially on his butt) that he is actually TOO buoyant! His little butt floats more than the rest of him, and he keeps turning over--as a result, he is a bit afraid of deep water (me, too, when I see him having trouble) and swims in the shallows only. I think a vest might be a good thing for him. But all corgis don't have the same coat thickness. The good thing about vests is that they also have handles on them, and the dog can be "scooped" out of the water, if necessary.
HI Ann, and thanks! we can't get over the "floaty but" image. Too funny (though not for Scout)!
Our daughter named our girls. Hermione is the smart one!
We'll get vests, I think and watch out for "floaty but"

It is a beautiful place to visit and vastly different in landscape compared to what most people think of in Arizona.
