Haley, I got your message right as we arrived at Wiggly - at 6:00! We must have just missed you! We are there pretty much every night by 6:30 or so and stay till dark. Come play with Felix sometime!!
We're getting close to getting our own Corgi! There are two contenders: a 4-month old male tri in Allen (found on puppyfind.com) and a 1-year old female tri at the Humane Society of North Texas.
The Allen tri has AKC on both sides, the dam is an agility champion and the sire is from the Bluemoon line. The owner is pretty sure no DM is present, but is not sure. She offered to take the pup back if the screening comes back as type D.
The HSNT tri has cherry eye and that will be corrected during the spay operation, but no word yet on if they will to a removal or relocate on the gland.
Any suggestions or comments? We found an adorable 5-month old tri at the Humane Society in Fredricksburg, but can't get the time off to go down and look at him. That site is closed weekends.
On a side note, the HSNT seems to get a steady stream of tris. In the past month, there have been 4 of them passing through.
Good luck finding your pup. If possible you just might have to meet both dogs and see which one you connect with more. I can vouch for HSNT as an organization though because I got my first puppy Lilu (the beagle/corgi mix) from them. I wonder if the dog you're looking at is at the same foster home. There was one in Mansfield that I think takes all/most of the corgis. They had a few running around when we picked up Lilu.
Me, Leo, and his friend Franklin(Wirehaired Fox Terrier) are going to Wagging Tail Dog Park might be going in the morning, but for sure in the afternoon around 4!
Sunday afternoon would be perfect for us! Do we want to try for this weekend or would next be better? And what park is closest to everyone? We are in Arlington, so Fort Woof is closest to us, but we can travel if need be.
We are definitely out of town next weekend for Thanksgiving, but Felix and I could make it this coming Sunday. We'll go wherever is convenient for most - Denton's far for most of you I know!
Fort Woof is good for us -- about 2-3? We can only bring ioan, since roo is on bedrest for 4-6 weeks -- he tore a ligament in his left foot which was causing him to limp, and it is healing REALLLLLLYYYY slowly. . . .
There's a guy in Coppell who's offering a free 4y.o. tri to whomever wants it on Craigslist. Says it's crate- and housetrained. We're looking at the red/white pups in Whitesboro this weekend. Not sure if we should also look into taking in the tri.
Well thanks for the lead to the free Tri in Coppell, my girlfriend and I went and got him. He seems to be a very happy corgi. Beaker my current corgi doesn't know what to think, but I think he will be ok.
We're getting our Corgi tomorrow! Any recommendations for a Corgi-knowledgable vet in the Plano area? I was thinking about using SPCA-McKinney for most of the usual stuff (shots, annual exam, neutering) .
Dr Stefani Day @ Melissa Animal Hospital right of Hwy 5 works on my two Corgi's. The groomer there has bathed and cut their nails several times. Very friendly staff.
Best day at Keller Springs dog park today. There were 6 corgi/corgi mix dogs there at once (including my 2)! And 2 more showed up later while I was still there so 8 total corgis today.
Ugh the stupid squirrels ate my internet AGAIN. The AT&T people are supposed to be here between 12-4. Hopefully it'll be 12, but you know how that is. We will make it to Fort Woof if we can!
OK if anyone out there reads this, I'm still coming!!! Got really held up, but we're on our way. Be there around 2:45, so if anyone can stay late, Felix would love to play :)
We just got Watson yesterday! I'm so excited to have him even though he's piddled and pottied in the house. Urg. Oh well, he's such a cute bugger. Pictures to come later. He's only 2 months old so no dog parks just yet, I don't know about a meet up.
I found a very nice red/white female Pemmi with a rescue in Sulphur, LA. She's 1 year old but needs some TLC due to abuse she suffered when younger. She was kept in an outdoor run with a larger dog that kept stealing her food. Her foster says that she's food aggressive as a result. She's gets along well with dogs in general but will be very possessive if other dogs approach her person. She is otherwise very sweet and likes to be a lap dog.
If you know someone who wants a great Corgi, has no kids or other dogs, and is willing to work with this one-year old on overcoming her issues, let me know and I will send the contact info.
That just breaks my heart when I here of something like that.. My boys would be way to aggresive for her... any person that is mean to fur babies I hope one day someone does the same thing to them... sorry had to vent..
Wow! Felix was actually born in Sulphur, and he's a little over a year old. Could this little girl be from his litter? How crazy! I'm very tempted, but I have no idea how Felix would be with her. I'll talk with the husband and be in touch :)
Kirby's staying with in-laws while we are away this weekend. Two Pekes are there and not liking the new dog at all. Seems like Kirby may have a bit of the herding instinct in him as he's been nipping them around all day. They have to jump up on the sofa to get away from him.
What a Great Dog in Propser is awesome! Em and I are going to start intermediate soon. Really enjoy it, people are nice. It's a little further I know, but just take Preston up. It's not too bad.
Fido's Finest Dog Training is where I took Charlie he will start intermediate in January we both learned a lot! Marne & Casandra are really nice and hold classes at Classy Canine Daycare off of Preston.

We can't make it to the Corgi event in Buda this year, unfortunately- school and work schedules just don't make it possible.
But we are going to the event this Saturday at Dog City Training Center. Anyone here going to that?

Agreed! Because it's dark so early now, we would have to do a weekend meetup. Would a Sunday afternoon early December work for anyone?

I found a pup from a lady in Whitesboro. She says she's been breeding for 3 years. Anyone heard of a breeder of that duration in that area?
She has the AKC papers for the sire but says the person who sold her the AKC dam never got back to her with her copy of the papers.
