I don't know, I'm too paranoid to leave Nibbler in the car for any period of time. Here in Flagstaff (I'm here for school this summer), even when it's 77 degrees out, the inside of the car gets really hot even with the windows down. I think there could have been another solution like bringing his dog in with him, or leaving it at home.
  • Frank Eibl

Correct, Mary. Luckily, the dog was not harmed, and did have water, and cross ventilation. Corgi's are tough little dogs, but still can get roasted alive in a hot unattended vehicle. This owner did check on the dog, but shouldn't have left it in the car in the first place.
  • Mary

Yeah, I'm not saying the dog was near death. But I love my dog being as comfortable as possible. And I would think that since he owns Harkins it might be okay for him to bring his dog inside.
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Welcome back, Gretchen! We're looking forward to the end of the summer heat and some fun Corgi meetups.
  • Rosemary Tilton

Hello Everyone, I hope that you're staying cool this summer. I don't know why but after nearly 20 yrs you'd think I'd get use to the heat. Not so...............How are all our little fur babies doing.
I started Chloe in agility , she seems to enjoy it, I'm the one having the issue with keeping up with her.......................Can't wait for the summer to be over so we can get together again......................RosemaryT & Chloe Mae
  • Alice

I too am excited for the weather to cool so we can resume the Corgi meet ups. Finn hasn't been to the dog park in ages! If weather permits we may plan a get together near his birthday which is Sept 15th, but we'll worry about that as it gets closer. :)
  • Rebekah Tompert

I would love to so some corgi meetups sometime for my pups to mingle!
  • Kristi Reckard

Meet up?? Are we doing a meet up this month after things start cooling down? I did not see a posting
  • Dexter, Marple, Dennis and Nancy

That would be awesome! Marple hasn't been to a dog park yet, and of course Dexter's always game. Maybe next weekend, when the daytime highs are only in the 90's?
  • Rebekah Tompert

I want to plan a date at Cosmo Dog park in Gilbert.. But I want to do a date where a lot of people can make time to come.. Hmm??

The meet up tomorrow is at Cosmo in Gilbert.
The PV Meetup is the 24th. :)
  • Marie McClearn

Lola and I had a great time today at Cosmo Dog Park. We didn't get a chance to meet everyone in all the excitement, so if you were there today could you leave your name and your dog's name for me & Lola. Also, there was a man with a corgi with a tail today, does anyone know who they are?
  • Brian Mary & Chase

If you mean the young man with the cute corgi with a tail, that was me and Chase. Chase had a very good time at the park today and we are planning to go to the picnic at PV next Sunday. I always enjoy seeing a lot of Corgis
    Brian Mary & Chase
  • Jess, Ein, Faye & Wilson!

  • Candie K.

Lilo and Zelda had a great time Saturday and had an even better bath when we got home! haha. Chase, Warner, Rebel, and Rebekah's babies. It was all very nice to meet you. Marie and Lola: I believe we saw you...I think we met at the previous meet up! Everyone's hospitality was greatly appreciated! :)
  • Roxanne Hoeft

Hello....I have returned to Tucson with my 3 beautiful Corgis. Looking for anyone in the Tucson area.
  • Frank Eibl

I've posted photos of the Corgi Halloween Picnic at Paradise Valley park today on WagsnWiggles site.
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Nice job, Frank, you were sure quick getting those on-line! I hope the shot I took for you of you and Toby came out ok.

For those not up on WagsnWiggles (a Yahoo Group), Franks photos are here.
  • Frank Eibl

Thanks, Doug. Glad you were able to get them on this site for all to see. Yes, the pix you took of Toby and I came out fine, and are in the photo set. Thanks again!
  • Candie K.

Hope everyone had a good time yesterday! Was there a big turnout? Sorry we couldn't make it! Mama had a busy week and was just too tired to drive that far...went for a walk in the local park instead.
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

I finally sorted through my photos of the picnic and have posted the best of the bunch here.

Gromit and Debbie and Holly and I had a grand time at the picnic. Frank and I figured there were about 50 Corgis that attended during the course of the day. How cool is that?! I just wish I could remember the names of all the dogs and of course all of the people. So many wonderful, happy Corgis and some very special ones too. I hope Big Ozzie, Cooper, and the rest find their new homes soon.
  • Frank Eibl

    Fantastic photos, Doug. Thanks
  • Rebekah Tompert

  • Frank Eibl

Happy 2011 to all.  Toby and I made it through the holidays with minimal weight gain from too many treats.  Hope we can get together in the spring at the park for another super outing.  Hugs and licks to all !

  • The Geek's Wife & her Corgi Ein

    You're #BOOB? That's awesome!
  • The Geek's Wife & her Corgi Ein

Anyone have any good suggestions on puppy friendly places to go and hang out besides a dog park? We're in the middle of really trying to nip this house training thing in the bud, so I'm wanting lots of different, fun places to go and spend some time outside. The more she's outside the more I can praise her when she goes outside. If we're indoors my trainer says I have to give her 100% of my attention so I can catch her in the act if she tries to go inside. That's so exhausting, and I keep getting distracted by things I need to get done around here. I'd rather get out and do something fun if I'm not going to be productive.
  • The Geek's Wife & her Corgi Ein

We've been hiking at the Thunderbird Conservation Park 3 days this week already. We over did it with a 3 mile hike yesterday, so I wanted something a little more relaxed. I think maybe we'll head over to Desert Ridge Mall and walk around. If anything, at least it will be an opportunity to socialize her to that kind of environment and more people. Maybe bring some iced tea and find a spot to hang.
  • Frank Eibl

I take Toby to the Rio Vista park in Peoria at 89th & Thunderbird.  It's a large park - leash is required.  I park next to the volleyball courts, and walk around the 3 ponds through the picnic areas, follow alonf the edge of the last 3 baseball diamonds to where the park comes to a point at the 101.  Then follow the walkway back along the wash all the way to the start point.  There is a drinking fountai' at the little bridge that goes into the indoor rec center.  This has a 'doggie fountain' also.
  • Frank Eibl

This is a nice walk - about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 miles long.  Sometimes I will follow the concrete bike trail under the 101, and 83 rd Ave to 75th Ave and back.  This can make for a great walk of 4+ miles or so.  This path is part of the main trail that goes all the way down past the Biltmore and hooks up the Indian Bend trail all the way into Scottsdale, if you're into biking.  also crosses to the west side at the park and goes for miles either direction on the west side of the wash.
  • The Geek's Wife & her Corgi Ein

Getting ready to go check out Rio Vista Park. Sounds nice. Thanks for the tip.
  • Frank Eibl

I usually go there weekday late mornings now.  It does get more crowded on weekends, but is still useable.  There are a number of refrigerated drinking fountains in the park, but only one low down 'doggie bowl'  The doggie one is not refrigerated, so when it gets warmer, I bring along a drinking cup for Toby, and fill it from the regular cool water fountains.  I park between the volleyball courts and the skatepark, just over the bridge and to the right when you enter the park.  There's a stop/go light on T-bird at 89th ave which is now named Rio Vista Blvd.   Go north past the business warehouses and into the park.
