Does anyone know of a good dog park in the Dallas area? I'm new in town and would love to be able to take Wrigley somewhere to play. I live right by the Dallas North Tollway and Spring Valley, but I'm willing to travel a little to find a good one.
  • Gina Mac

Hello! This is Boomer, Lela and Baby Lola! Nice to know there others corgis out here :) Ciao!
  • Rhoby A Rasch

There is a really nice & very shadded dog park over off N75 between Allen and Mckinney by the new super Target and Babies R Us stores.
  • Kim

It's great to see so many other Corgi families in DFW! We live in Plano and have two Corgi puppies. Blaze is a tri-color; he is 8 months old. Diamond is a sable and white; she is 4 1/2 months old. Now that Diamond is old enough, we go to the Plano off-leash park twice a week.
  • Jeny (and Wrigley)

I plan to go there next weekend, once I get Wrigley his city tags. :)
  • Jeny (and Wrigley)

We should! But, I might nuzzle your Corgis to death. :(
  • Jeny (and Wrigley)

The shelter said he's about a year, I've had him for almost a month. :)
  • Kim

We *should* all try to meet! I usually go to the park during the week when it isn't so crowded, but I'm open to another time!
  • Jeny (and Wrigley)

I'm unemployed atm, so pretty much any day and time is fine with me lol.
  • Leslie Tabor

Skylar earned her CGC at 7 mos. old. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now on to bigger things, intermediate obedience.
  • Kim

No doggie parks for us for a while! Blaze and Diamond are having their neuter/spay surgeries today. Maybe in 7-10 days after she is all better!
  • Gina Mac

Is there a designated "play date" yet?
  • Jeny (and Wrigley)

We should decide on a day for our play date! Wrigley and I have been going to the Addison dog park during the week and the Plano one on the weekends. I have seen some weird things at the Addison one though, so I may start making the longer trek to Plano more often.
  • Kim

If the weather is nice (no rain), how about the Plano park on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m.? I'm open to other suggestions...just don't want to go too late in the day when it's *really* hot! My two just got their stitches out yesterday, so they are good to go!
  • Jeny (and Wrigley)

That works for me! I hate going in the afternoon when it is ridiculously hot. Do you guys go in the big dog side or the small dog? Wrigley is a mix, so he's about 35-40lbs and I generally take him on the big side.
  • Kim

We are on the small dog side...Blaze is 25 pounds and Diamond is only 16 (she's still quite the puppy at 5 1/2 months!).
  • Jeny (and Wrigley)

I think we're going to the Plano park Wednesday morning at 10. :)
  • Kim

Do you all ever do any meetups at dog parks?
  • Jessie & Lola

I live at George Bush and Preston. Anyone know what dog parks are close to me?
  • Kim

Jessie, I live in the same general area. The nearest dog park to us is at Jack Carter Park in Plano (you can Google it for information, hours, and requirements). We go when my husband is off...I need an extra set of hands with these two! LOL!
  • Tammey & Caven

    Happy Halloween Y'all!
  • Jessie & Lola

Thanks so much Kim! I still don't pick Lola up for another month but I'm trying to work out everything before she's here!
  • Kim

No problem! Just make sure she has ALL her puppy shots before she goes...for her own protection! They ask you not take a puppy younger than 4 months (I think...). Once you've been, you'll understand why! They do have an area for large dogs (over 30 pounds) and one for small-medium (under 30 pounds), but I sometimes find people with larger dogs in the smaller dog area. I take my two Corgis to a doggy day care a couple of times a week so that they can interact with other dogs (and I can collect my sanity! LOL!). They love it and come home completely exhausted!
  • Jeny (and Wrigley)

I'm so excited about Corgi Night tonight at the indoor dog park. Who else is going? I'm not sure what I will be wearing yet, but look for Wrigley, the loud, tall, weird looking corgi. :p
  • Kim

It's a bit too far for us this evening...and both Blaze and Diamond are still recovering from a full day of play yesterday! LOL! I love my Doggie Day Care...outdooor water park and all! Wears them totally OUT.
  • Michael Hess, Scout, and Recon

Jessie - A little late but I usually tend to avoid that park it's usually filled with very irresponsible owners that will let their dogs run wild. It's a little bit more of a drive but there is one in Allen off Stacy road that's really nice. It's in the new shopping center they built on the east side of 75 and Stacy in front of the petsmart.
  • janice kay

is there anyone out in the dfw area going to the DOGGIE BOWL at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park Sunday 4/11?
  • Teresa Gilpin

I just joined Corgis in North Texas. I am thrilled. I love to read everybodys stories, now maybe I can meet more crazy corgi lovers like we are.
  • Jeny (and Wrigley)

Now that it's getting nicer out, is anyone interested in setting up a meetup at one of the local dog parks? I was thinking maybe the Addison one, it's pretty quiet during the week and most of the owners there are responsible and look after their dogs.
  • JanRich

A friend in Dallas sent me this link about a corgi in a shelter. Does anyone in Dallas need a corgi friend??

  • JanRich

  • Rebecca Brooks

If anyone in fort worth is planning a corgi play date let me know. Molly needs some buddies around her size.
  • Jessie & Lola

Does anyone go to the dog park off Preston and Keller Springs? We're usually there Wed, Fri, and throughout the weekend. I've only ever seen one other corgi, so come out and play!
  • Michael Hess, Scout, and Recon

I'm be down for a play date in the near future.
  • janice kay

Irving is opening up there new doggie park May 22 at the new animal care clinic/shelter ...
  • Jessie & Lola

Well Lola and I will be at the Preston/Keller Springs park today at around 5:30pm or so. If anyone can make it, look forward to playing!
  • Jeny (and Wrigley)

Where is the Irving one? Is it going to be where the old shelter is? That's where I got Wrigley from last year and he really loved one of the ladies there. I would like to be able to bring him back to visit her and play!
  • Joey Nolegs Gilbert

Hi Joey is moving near TCU in August. We know it'll be hot. Anyone have exercise ideas? We don't want him to overheat. Also anyone know a good corgi doctor we could start using in the North Texas area? thanks!
  • Shelley Garland

Joey, I too live in the TCU area. we usually walk Emma (our 15-week-old Pembroke pretty late in the evening. It is FAR too hot during the day. I would say we take her for a nice walk around 10. you could also do it early in the morning :)
  • Lara & HAM

Hi, Ham and I live in North Dallas and go the dog park on Keller Springs in between Tollway/ Preston.

Does any other Corgi owner go to this park? Play date please.
  • Clare

    Joey,
There are two really good vets in North Texas. One is Mellina Animal Hospital‎
2928 West 6th Street, Fort Worth, TX‎ - (817) 332-8179‎. He is absolutely wonderful! I would highly recommend him to anyone. The other is Dr. Gibbons at the Petsmart in Weatherford. 138 East Interstate Hwy 20, Suite 160 Weatherford, TX 76087 Phone: (817) 599-5708. She has Corgis of her own and has experience with the breed.
  • Keysia Monte

Hi everyone. I just moved to Irving a few weeks ago. I am looking for anyone who might want to get together and let our dogs play. I have a 10 month old male named Mikko. We have been to the lewisville park and I am willing to travel. Please let me know if you are interested. Mikko could really use some friends.
  • Kimberly Rogers

Hi all! I am new to this sight, but I have had my Corgi girl, Buffy, for all 8 yrs of her life. I absolutely love the breed very very much. I was just wandering if skin issues are a regular corgi thing or not?
  • Lara & HAM

Kim, I read an article online that allergies could cause patches of fur to fall off.
  • Emily Riotte

Hi guys! I just moved to the area from CT a few weeks ago. My corgi is Ranger, and he is the love of my life. He is 5 months old and growing fast! We definitely would love to get another corgi perhaps a female in the near future!
  • Birdie and Chief

Is anyone looking for another corgi? I have the most beautiful red headed tri we are looking for her a new home bc my other corgi is really sick and I cant afford to care for both of them right now. She is very smart has been to obedience training. She has a really sweet temperment my vet said she is one of the sweetest corgis she has ever seen. Please let me know if you are interested. It kills me to even post this bc I love her so much.
  • Danielle

Anyone in the Ft W area -- there are going to be corgis (pemmies and cardies) at the Ft. Woof bark park this thursday around 7 -- there is shade and plenty of water for the dogs.  Come and get herded (or watch the herders herd each other, lol)
  • kelly

going to Fort Woof tonight. Hope to see other corgis there!
  • Denise Gilbert James

Sounds like fun!!  But we may to catch another one.  Does anyone know if Fort Woof really checks the city registration upon entering the park? I ask this because I do not live in Fort Worth and the city I live in there is no city dog registration. Have a great day!

  • Keysia Monte

I have been to fort woof many times and have never had anyone check for registration. As long as the dogs have rabies tags I don't think anyone cares. I don't have a registration for my dog either. Hope to see you there.
