Plain and simple, I'm crazy about corgi's. I have two tri-colors and would love to have more.
I work full time and have a demanding but rewarding job. My son is a law enforcement officer and my daughter is in college majoring in art education. I've been married to my best friend for over 27 years and we love our life together. I am blessed!
I've told my husband I think three corgi's would be good. He rolls his eyes. And to think everyone thought I'd have the "empty nest syndrome." Hehe....I'm having a ball!
Chloe will be two years old on May 24, 2008. Chloe actually belongs to my daughter but with Jillie off to college, Chloe has become my companion. Chloe is a very intelligent dog. She seems to understand exactly what I tell her. I love it when she cocks her head sideways and listens. We have fun watching you tube together, especially if there is another corgi on the screen! She loves to fetch the frisbee and does a lot of what I call "nascar" track racing through the house and outside. It can be quite hilarious to watch! She loves walks and when things aren't going quite as she thinks they should....is good at doing the heavy sigh "humphhh' and going somewhere that I can still see her, heavy sigh, head between paws and rolls her eyes at me. She has the most wonderful personality. Everyone who meets her wants her. She claims my husbands lazy boy recliner whenever he's not in it. Very funny to watch their interaction over the chair ownership. She sleeps with me at night just like a two year old would. As crazy as I am about her, she's still clearly Jillie's dog when she's home. Chloe loves to travel and was the perfect traveler when we traveled over 2,000 miles this last Christmas.
We love Chloe so much we decided to get another corgi. Cooper was born November 19, 2007. My husband and I enjoy time with these two...life is never dull! However, bringing a new little guy into our home has changed the dynamics. Chloe is pretty much a spoiled teen and Cooper is just a rowdy pup. He has endearing qualities which clearly are part of the breed. He's actually good for Chloe as she is beginning to learn to share (attention and toys). Cooper knows his place in the pecking order though and we love him. He is pretty fearless and already loves to go with Bob in the truck. He's much stockier than Chloe and one ear still hasn't stood up. He looks a bit goofy with one ear up and one ear down. Potty training Cooper is a bit challenging since I work long hours but he's doing well.
Welcome Kim, You are right, life is never dull with a Corgi in the house. Even crazier when you have two! Beautiful picture. Which one is is Cooper or Chloe?
Hey Kim! Thanks for the good wishes on the move... we might need it :D. Oakley also wanted to say thanks for the compliment. She was particularly flattered because Chloe is so beautiful!! How has your experience been with adding a second corgi? I'm a little bit worried.
Thanks Kim..
Chinese Lady Buddha has a mark on the forehead just like that. It's suppose to be her third eye.
And some people believe that anything that has that same mark is a symbol of wisdom ... that's cool !!
Thanks Kim. I always get a chuckle looking at other people's pics too - they have so many of the same quirks, I know exactly what was going on when some of the people took their pics. :-) Chloe is a pretty girl, and it looks like she knows how to work the camera (and mom!) just as well as Emmy does!
I was so excited for Emmy to meet another corgi because we don;t have any other local corgi friends. Unfortunately Hugo was not really quite as "nuts" of a playing partner as Emmy prefers, so she ditched him rather quickly to go play with her best friend in the playgroup.. a beagle named Lillie. It was Hugo's first visit, so maybe it was a little much for him, hopefully they will be a better match next time. :-)
you're welcome! yeah I'm pretty new here too, and there is a LOT to read about, lot's of helpful information and lot's of cute pictures and stories. =) have a good week!
I thoroughly enjoyed looking through your Corgi pictures. They are adorable. Your daughter is a beauty too. My two girls are 19 and 21 and the dogs miss having them at home.
Kim, Thank you for your words!
I am so in love with Court,
my grandmother just passed and I am crying,
he is coming right up to me and lying
at my feet.
He had a playdate with one of my best friend's
dogs and he set a boundary quite gently
and the 2 played for 2 hours. Not so
with my mother who has a rescued Keeshond
who loves me and I her, but I didn't get to
spend time with her this weekend visit
because Court is only 10 days with me and I
thought leaving him in the car to visit with
Pepper might not be the best idea.
Anyway, thanks for reading.
you dealt with the nipping thing, how did you do it?
I'm doing the 'ouch, no bite' right when he bites
(usually while kissing)...
he had been shot and running abandoned and injured,
was found beg. of Nov...and he's just a year or so
old...
you seem to have a lot of personal experience with corgis
and an engagin way to write about all aspects of their lives.
BEST WISHES< Court and Leila
Poor Chloe. So much more emotion there than we give them credit for. I'm glad she has adjusted to your husband! When Chloe was on Prednisone did she have bad gas?
