Profile Information:

Hometown:
Fortuna, California
About Me:
I'm a hard working single mom of one Pembroke, Timmy. : ) Obviously I have quite a sense of humor, (being a corgi lover).

I'm retired from public service, and work part time at what ever other jobs I can find to support, "The True Prince of Wales".

I own a small home located in a small rural community on the far northern California coast; far from the maddening crowds and 4-5 hours from civilization. Surrounded by very tall trees, redwoods, I love being in the outdoors and "roughing" it.

I'm much wiser than Timmy thinks I am.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
What can I say? Words escape and run in figure eights around the various items of furniture in the living room. Timmy is the "True Prince of Wales". He's very concerned with his looks, since he's very oversized (structured more like a cardigan). Very physically fit!! works out daily, in home, on the road or track, at the park chasing balls and once a week by a pet walker. Timmy doesn't walk, he struts, honest. When he meets another dog, he puffs up and makes sure the dog knows he's buff. It cracks me up!!! Timmy says to check out his dogster page at www.dogster.com/dogs/317521. He's also a junior reporter for our small local paper, Humboldt Beacon, writing stories on dog care, pet issues and news. So he's probably busier than I am!!!

Timmy got his CGC in 2005, he also got his certification from Delta Society as a therapy dog qualified in complex areas. He's started in agility and this year we are going to try rally obedience by attending some local classes.
I have:

  • Sue Olson

I sent an e-mail as directed. I'll get photos on soon, have a few.
  • Sue Olson

Some of the barks of joy I could do without as with hardwood floors it echos. But, I was finally ready. Putting down my last dog was horrendous and then within the year I had both a fire and burglary so wasn't in a good position to think about anything.
  • Sue Olson

My comment got cut off but just wanted to say I'll be closer to normal when I know I won't have a lien on my property. Part of this horrible fire bit. Things are looking better but cleaning EVERY item in this house with help from friends has encouraged me to have an open house this Saturday as a big thank you. I think I would have lost my mind.
  • Furpants McGee

she's here, she's here!! look for a blog and many photos and videos tomorrow about our first moments and days together!! we love her sooo much...shes such a great dog! hope ur parade was fun. any pics??
  • Furpants McGee

well, as of 3 am today, Abby and baby Ziggy are friends :) Took her out to potty and she was being a bit stubborn about getting back into the crate, but Ziggy cat was laying down near it, and Abby non-chalantley laid down next to him and started kissing him and he was LOVING every second of it! SOO CUTE! *sigh* Of course at that moment I felt bad about making her get back into the crate, but I had to stick to my guns. I just wish she'd stop being so cute because I've been late to work these 2 days!!
  • Reese

It was well deserved. I know there will be plenty of questions when Reese comes home. 8 days to go... =)
  • Sarah C.

It occured to me that I don't know if blogs notify you if someone posted back! here's what i said. :)
"Hmm, I think the positioning is wrong.
First I'll explain how my dad WANTS to put her. He kind of sits her up, like how a baby sits, which is not a natural position and I'm pretty it's hard for her to breath in. She's actually pretty patient about it and will sit there for a moment, but at the first chance she jumped down and walks off. Attempts to put her back in the position in met with laid back ears and a very concerned look. So far she hasn't nipped or growled.
Since my dad sits in a big lazy chair, the position I would like to try would be Didi laying across his lap. She does this with me on my big computer chair, and since dad's chair is bigger, I'm pretty sure that she wouldn't be afraid of falling. The main obstacle is convincing her that it's a safe place to sit, and my dad that she doesn't want to be in the other position and that this positions provides maximum petting opportunities. This hugging position sounds interesting though!

Thank you so much for your advice. I think I'll try practicing 'hugging' with her. That might be useful too! "
  • Juel

Good Morning! I hope you and Timmy are doing well! We have actually had a couple of quiet days at work, what a nice break! Well better get back to work. have agood morning! And day if I don't connect with you!
  • Juel

I made a date to visit the Pem breeder on tuesday. YEAH!!!
  • Epinephrine "Epi" and Carly too!

We read your post about the dog show in Dixon and would like to go. Where can we find more info?
    markus, jess, n Epi
  • Sandy

Thank you for the UTI prevention advice. I will try to clean her and give her cranberry capsules. My brother went to UC Santa Cruz and we have relatives in Eureka. I love N Cali!
Good luck creating the dog park!
  • Butter

Do you mean that the person wants to rescue a Corgi or that they are looking for a Corgi that has been already rescued?
  • Butter

Oh, it would be extremely unlikely for them to find one on PEI; we are a very small island, only about 140,000 pop. Pretty much no one knows what a Corgi is around here; everyone thinks they are Dashounds (sp?)

The only breeder on PEI has only one litter a year of Cardigans are most are flown to other provinces in Canada.

They MIGHT find one in Nova Scotia...although there are no breeders listed with the Canadian Kennel Club. In fact the next closest breeder would be in the province of Quebec and then Ontario and West; all very long distances from here.

I watch the UsedPEI.com site a lot to see what is going on in the dog community on PEI; have never seen a Corgi.

I would be interested and surprised if they ever were able to get one locally. Let me know if you find out anything or if they want more info from me.
  • Ginny

Thanks Sylvia & will do! We just had a Cardi as a foster doggie! If you like, put in an app with CWCNRT (Cardigan Welsh Corgi National Rescue Trust). Tell Sherilyn I sent you! LOL.

    Hugs & talk soon,

    Ginny
  • Cat & Casey

Hi Sylvia as you can see I dont get to this site too often! Sorry-
Thanks for the congrats on Rascal being chosen Kaley's 1st DOTW. She did a good write up all about Rascal.

Interesting to read about Timmy's artritis. We think Rascal is having the same problems in 1 knee. I will try to keep your shots in mind.
  • Cat & Casey

Looks like you had a fun time @ the Rodeo parade! Did you go to the rodeo also? I like a rodeo. Too bad Rascal & I don't live nearby to be in the parade also.
Cooler temps here lately. Rain, so of course thunderstorms for Rascal to hide. He had a touch of flu (lost his food) on Tuesday but back to his usuall onery self again by today.
Jerry missed going to a parade & celebration where his grew up. Cousin that lives in NW Iowa called to say 1 of her brothers would be there. Jerry was registered to go a tractor ride instead. So missed visiting with his Hummel cousins this year.
Will you help with elections in November? Maybe you will see one of his cousins then. cat oo & xx
  • Sam

Indeed I have seen it. Deion is a very "soft" fellow and would just look at me as if I was crazy. He is already near 13 so not very active at this time. He has been using the cart a bit more as of late and one romp per day seems to keep him smiling. Thanks for caring.
  • Karen & Bailey

Thanks Sylvia and Uncle Timmy for the video comment! =D we're doing great. bailey's resting right now (or more like passed out). He just got neutered today and i just picked him up and brought him home. good news is, he does have an appetite (i gave him one teeny itsy bitsy treat - ok maybe 3, and he took it immediately). they advised no food for two hours after surgery. =) he even reacted to a new bouncy ball i bought him during my day alone. =) have a great weekend!
  • Furpants McGee

she's home!! luckily the right person got her and called me when they saw the flyers I put out.
  • Anne

Thanks for the comments about Le-Le. She is coming along so much. She is now going up to my husband for attention on her own and without treats. We start obedience in Sept. She has great recall, knows the word wait, walks on a leash well and makes good eye contact just need to work on basic sit and want her to be more socialized with people.
  • Jaime Bragg

    Glad to be here!
    Jaime
  • Crystal and Gambit

I have. I have almost given up hope, but I really want a female tri-color to compliment my little blonde boy.
  • Karen & Bailey

Haha! Hi Sylvia! And my near uncle timmy! =P Yes, I believe Bailey's forgiven me and even to the point where he's enjoying me scratching his face in the morning instead of having to do it himsef!.His incision is healing great and theres a scab that’s already formed. The two sacs where his testicles used to be are fading and shrinking away. Lol. He got used to it after a few hours of bumping into things and now he just happily trails along wherever, whatever he bumps into - its okay by him. =P He's been more hyper lately and rambucious with the stuffed toys because we've missed out on dog parks and playing with other dogs since last Friday.

I really would seriously consider taking him to some type of agency, but do not know how to start. Lol. I swear he'd do great!!!! And free mugs for all the mycorgi community! Lol! I swear I love him more each day.

Yes! I've heard about the weight gain after neuturing. That's good news. He won't have his activity level cut down, and we've just switched him over from puppy to adult Wellness, so we should be fine! =D

Thanks for your comment, it put a smile to my face while I sit here at work… wondering what he's doing - sleeping I hope! Have a great weekend too! We're going to the San Francisco Giants Dog Days of Summer game (bailey gets to go!), and I will be sure to take plenty of pictures.
  • Sybil

    Hi Friend! Love,
    CORBU & ZAHA ("L'il Zee")
  • Furpants McGee

Let the Frapping begin....last night was her first extensive frapping episode...and it was CRAZY!!! She started while on my bed, going back and forth, then realized there wasnt enough room...so jumped off and went on for several minutes...into my room, back into the kitchen...into the bathroom...back into the kitchen. WOW!! is all i have to say about THAT!
  • Melosimine

"Timmy got his CGC in 2005, he also got his certification from Delta Society as a therapy dog qualified in complex areas. He's started in agility and this year we are going to try rally obedience by attending some local classes."
How do you get that certificate???
Please tell me, i would love for my dog to do something so helpful.
P.S. My dog is like identical to yours lol
  • quinn gleich

Thanks for the welcome. I did post a photo - not great, but you get the idea. I'll try for some better one's tomorrow. Hillary is very verbal...
  • quinn gleich

    We have Hillary photos....
  • quinn gleich

    frapping?
  • quinn gleich

Ah yes, if only my horses could cut such a figure 8! She does it. Also circles. I didn't know it had a name!

Our cocker-maltese mix is a Delta Certified Pet Therapist (she is Peanut in one of the Hilary photos.) I think Hillary would have to be much calmer before we coul dconsider anything like that. Peanut exists to be petted and held and is particularly good with older adults.
  • quinn gleich

It is great work. I work with older adult programs through a religious denomination and also try to encourage folks who do visitation programs to include properly certified pets. We actually have our own program http://www.pcusa.org/nationalhealth/careteams/petcareteams/ Peanut is the poster pup and travels around helping me do workshops.
  • Cat & Casey

Glad you like the new picture. My daughter gave me 2 T-shirts for Xmas. This T-shirt & 1 with Kaley & Rani Macaw bird. Hubby had Rascal & I pose with each different t-shirt. When I was in the Kaley T-shirt Rascal was watching a car go by. No way would he turn & face the camera.
It is cooler here today after a cold front came thru. No rain, just cool enough for me to dig out the sweatshirt to wear for the early morning walk.
Rascal enjoys the cooler temps to want to play more ball @ noon. But summer temps are to return next week. I do like fall weather best. But seems summer was not around long enough.

When you move into the country will you have a big yard for Timmy?

Good you have a renter if not seller for your house.
Has Timmy moved before? My daughter worried her Boxer would not handle the move when she was relocated last February. She made sure his toys & blanket were in the new house 1st before he entered.
Hope you are happy in your new place.
  • Cindi

Sylvia & Timmy, thanks for your thoughts and prayers. We're just fine here. No damage. To the east and west of us, though, there is considerable damage with trees and power lines down, flooding, etc.
  • Sir Riley of Pembroke

Thanks so much for the information! Riley seems to be craving meat right now so that is a good thing. We appreciate your prayers. I honestly can't say the exact name of the cancer because I let it in one ear and out the other because I did not accept those words! Doctors just dont seem to give hope these days.
  • Elizabeth

no we don't have a website yet but if you want a number, I can give it to you
the Dam is Villandre's Sweeter Thanwine (Shelby)
the Sire is Tarea Llynhill Audacious (Rush)
Shelby has 6 points on her and I'm pretty sure Rush is a Champion but I'd have to ask my mom (the breeder)
  • Elizabeth

oh, and we're going to be at the corgi fair in burbank on Saturday if you or your friend are going to be there
  • Michael

Hi, thanks for the comments on the Corgi Picnic on my page. Yeah, the guy sitting on the ground with the container is handling the hotdog bob. Mac didn't actually participate in that though since I'm watching closely at what Mac eats.
  • Amanda

Hi! Thanks for the comment, sorry I'm so late to respond, I've been without electricity for the week and then without internet even longer! Heh. So Gustav is passed and here comes Ike! I suppose I'll be back to square one by the weekend with no electricity... *sigh* gotta love LA...
  • Sir Riley of Pembroke

    thanks so much!
  • Furpants McGee

    hello friends. happy monday.
    dog
    see more puppies
  • Sir Riley of Pembroke

I believe the time is near Riley is barely enjoying food anymore and a tumor has formed on his leg and he is starting to limp. I can not let him suffer, but I dont want to let him go it is so hard. My parents made "the appointment" for the 27th, please pray ectra hard for us.
  • Sir Riley of Pembroke

Thank you. We have been giving him vitamens and doggie asprin . He had a good day today he actually ate a lot! His leg kept shaking though and that big tumor was bleeding so we had to bandage him up. Gosh just a few months ago he was perfect...life hits you fast sometimes
  • Juel

Hello! I hope things are going well! What a lovely sentimant you sent to Sir Riley! Although crying at work is a little akward! hope our day is going well.and i will give you a call tonight to catch up! Take care!
  • Sir Riley of Pembroke

thanks so much that was a great to read. Riley is starting to leave blood spots wherever he lays..saturday is definatly going to be his last day we cant bare to think hes in pain. I took him for a ride in the car today because thats his favorite thing. He just stuck his head out the window and smelled the air. He looked beautiful that will be a good memory. he hasnt ate for the last couple days but today he wanted my philly steak sandwich do i gave it to him..whatever he wants. He has given me so much love I am trying to think of that instead of the pain that I am feeling. I know one day it will pass but I will never forget.
  • Sir Riley of Pembroke

Thanks so much! You guys have been very helpful throughout. Riley was always kind of cautious of other dogs because a pitt bull attacked him one night, i will have to write more about that! That was the scariest day of my life! He made it through that, but I guess cancer is another story. I hope he gets along peacefully with all of everyones loved ones over the rainbow bridge.
  • Cindi

Sylvia, the reprint you posted to Riley's page from Dogster just broke my heart. I think it's the first time I've cried freely for the loss of Rudy. Thanks for sharing it.
  • penny spencer

thanks Sylvia and Timmy! My, he's sooo good looking.
I a stinker and handful for mom but she love me soooooo much she doesn't mind so much. Take care.
  • Cindi

Thank you for your kind words.
