i thought i wanted another breed, but then fell for a corgi who just wanted to be crazy and chew my hair, after that I never thought twice about wanting one. one day a corgi showed up in my arms... and everything else is a blur!
About My Corgi(s):
my kaycee was born march 12, 2006 ;D she came home (a surprise) at 8 weeks old, learned to sit day one, by day three she knew down and roll over. Like her mom, it was all about the treats. "will work for food" Since then she's learned high-five, bang (play dead), spin, hop in, hop out and now she's added.... hands against the wall, dance, jump (over obstacle), bear, and to hold her treat until the okay command in four different languages (most likely based on our inflection/pitch, but my mom thinks otherwise)
**phew** that's a long list. she's currently residing in nyc with the g-units, learning to skateboard and jump through hoops. She enjoys her 120-count frisbee tosses 2x-3x daily, her 3x daily walks, her weekly baths (which we tire her out prior so she doesn't run away). She's a little agile one...a little OCD about the frisbee thing, we go through one every other month. :D thank goodness for $1.97 ones at old navy!
Kaycee can do all those tricks? Thats's amazing! Right now I'm working with Corky to do the basics: sit, down, roll, etc. So what's your secret to getting her to do all those tricks.
You know, they (Petsmart) also have floppy frisbees made by Kong, Air Kong, etc. I'm sure that Petco or any other major pet store would too. Cindi and I joke about renting Tank out to emergency rescue services if their Jaws Of Life power equipments ever malfunctions. LOL :-)
It was surely fun seeing Milo and Kaycee play. We thank you for t hose yummy treats from her birthday. We're slowly giving them to Milo. Let us know when you will be back so we can do this again - hopefully much warmer and sunnier! Corgis are so damn cute. And if you see the bench photo of Kaycee and Milo at the dog park - they both have the same pose! Their right legs are both sticking out when sitting. I told Mary that also!
hey, we are in the queens area. are there any corgi meetups happening in NYC anytime in the near future? I think Freddie would like Kaycee. lol. he'll dress to impress.
wow that sounds so exciting!! i'd love to see my freddie inteact with other corgis =) my girlfriend & I will definitely be there. how many corgis do you have?
please update us whenever you can. we've never been to any dog parks yet, we don't even know where they are =/. but my girlfriends AIM is: bebedolz. mine is: wickedkickz528. whenever you have a chance, give us a holler 8-)
Rock on. I'll see you there. I just paid the $10. Hopefully the weather holds up. I live on the upper west myself, so corgi at my place if it rains. LOL
Hey Kathy, yeah we were there, but you're right, it was soooooo hot, and I barely wanted to move out of the shade. Also, taking place at the Boat Basin, it was kinda hard to get around and actually meet people. Do you live in Manhattan?
Hello, Kathy & Kaycee!! What a welcome surprise to find someone else in queens with a corgi. We know exactly what park you're talking about. My bf & I used to take Norms out there every weekend in the winter and let him run wild. We're located around Bayside. Please do keep us updated on your next get-together! Do you have multiple corgis? That's my biggest wish, but my bf doesn't think we're able to handle more than 1 chunky monkey. Best of luck to you for being able to do so!
Just wanted to say hello because we're in NYC as well. There are a few corgi owners who go to our dog run at Carl Schurz however I have yet to run into them while walking Linus. You have some GREAT photos, I'm working on uploading a bunch more of our little guy.
I need some ideas on training. Chester is really smart but is inconsistant in his listening. (hes now a year old. Kaysee seem to have "gotten it" quickly from your description. Might be we havent dedicated enough training time. Chester will sit, laydown for treats..havent been able to teach him high 5s or rolling over..The big thing is that fhe comes and listens for the most part, but he has taken off a few times when slipping out of his collar and then when we approach him to retreive him, he thinks we are playing and will run, sometimes into the road! Help! Any ideas before we seek a professional trainer?
