About My Corgi(s):
Our Pembroke welsh corgi's name is Max. He was born on July 28, 2008. We got him when he was 5 months old. He's a tricolor pure breed. Some of his favorite things to do are digging in the dirt and giving sloppy kisses! He dislikes grooming (claw clipping, brushing). All in all, fun, loving pup with a great personality!

    I see that you are having problems with Max's barking. Corgis ARE vocal dogs, to be sure! I'm fortunate in that I don't have any neighbors in close proximity, and they are all "dog-friendly" regardless.

    From what I understand, the best way to quiet an overly-exuberant corgi (or any other dog for that matter) is to teach him to bark on command! Corgis are extremely intelligent, and they enjoy doing tasks for their masters. Like any other "trick", select a keyword to train him with (like, "speak!" or "bark!") and praise him lavishly and give him a treat when he barks on command. Then YOU control when and where he barks. Generally speaking, when a dog is TRAINED to do a task, it doesn't occur to him to do it when he isn't specifically TOLD to do it.

    Good luck!

    Hi Racquel, I was wondering if you are a member of San Diego Corgi meetup? You can signup for this group from this site. We get our corgis together once a month usually it's the 4th Saturday at a fenced in dog park. We have a great time at the meetups, they are always at 10:00am. Hope to see you at one of the meetups real soon.

    Hi Raquel!
    Thank you for your comment on Sidney's "treat on the nose" trick. My daughter (the one in the video) is Sid's trainer, so she's the one that did it. I am amazed myself! When we meet up at dog park one day I can have her show you how she did it. She also just taught him to wave, it is so cute :-)

    Wow he can roll over. I got to talk to my girls! We don't do that and neither will they give us the paw yet. We keep trying. Good looking little guy!-----Dot
