I have a wonderful 3-year-old Pembroke named Peanut who I rescued, or shall I say he rescued me. He is my second Corgi. My first was a red Pembroke named Pete who died at age 13. He had DM, but what got him was the big C.
We added another Corgi to our family! Tulip was born on March 15, 2009 and came home Memorial Day weekend. It's been a busy and fun filled summer-- having a puppy around, but we're loving it. She is a busy girl, full of energy and goofballness... And best of all Peanut LOVES her. He is so tolerant of her and they play constantly. Which is what we were hoping for. Life is good.
Hi Susan! I'm in CT too, and have 2 Corgis. We met a Susan and a Corgi named Peanut once at the Southbury dog park -- that wasn't you, was it? We laughed about it -- being named Susan suggests we are of a "certain age" and then having tricolored Corgis -- it's like meeting your long-lost twin or something. Anyway, it would be fun to find other Corgi CT folks and have a Corgi day, don't you think! Peanut is a cutie and I like his stuffed mini-me! How has he not torn that to shreds yet?
Too funny! I didn't see your friend request, so took care of that! Ethel is actually Bertie's niece, she's from the same breeder. I think they enjoy having each other, but they also compete for my attention, it's a quirkyy relationship. Bertie is VERY attached to me, and Ethel likes to follow Bertie around and do what he does. They do wrestle and play a little, but Bertie prefers my company. Or they will EACH bring me a toy and expect me to throw it or chase them! And Ethel always steals Bertie's toys but he just lets her, he's a gentleman. So we are a pretty happy little Corgi family. I was at S'bury today -- but I think we will be giving it a miss until this snow is thawed and the mud dries up, it was gross!
Ohhhhh, the beagle sounds like a sweetie. Maybe Peanut is like Bertie, not all that interested in expanding the family circle outwardly, but I think inside he likes having the dog company sometimes. Meanwhile, I joined state corgi groups on this website, both the Western Mass and CT groups -- but there doesn't seem to be all that many people in them! We may have to create our own meet up and see who comes (once the mud is gone, that is).
I know, my little baby is 16 months -- and Bertie is 5 in May, which makes me...argh. Where does the time go?? We've dropped into the dog park a couple of times in the past few weeks, and it's not been bad. With this rain this week, though -- maybe toward the end of the month? Where's the breeder you've applied to? Good luck with that -- scary, but exciting too.
