My husband and I have been married for 44 years and have 3 adult children. When my husband retired we moved from North FL. to our 80 acres in the Florida Panhandle. We love living in the country and are very secluded. We like the small town atmosphere.

No
About My Corgi(s):
We have 2 Pembrokes; brother and sister named Max and Sophie. They are 20 months and full of energy! We had 2 before Max and Sophie. They were not related but were male and female. We missed them so much when they died and couldn't wait to get more. I would have 2 more now but husband thinks 2 is plenty. He's probably right!
I have:

Thanks, I am brand new to this site. Need to learn how to upload some photos and to look at all the other babies on this site!
  • Boo Buchheit

    Your Corgis are so pretty.
  • Cindi

Hi Pat! First, we put her on a very nutritious diet. No more Dog Chow! She's on Natural Balance. By using a good food, we were able to cut her intake (2c per day to 1c per day) and still be sure she was getting what she needed to be healthy. Second, no junk treats and treats were very limited. We used jerkied chicken. Third, I walked her little legs off. We started slow and built our time. It took 8 months. But she's so much happier, healthier...and sassy-er!
  • Michelle

How is Sophie doing? PS hasn't it been hot hot hot this week?
  • Michelle

My two are doing great. My girl has been coughing a little the past week.. I really think it might be heat related she seems to feel good, wanting to go for a walk all of the time..... Hope everything continues to go well for you guys.
  • Michelle

SHE IS DOING BETTER, THANKS FOR ASKING. I HAVE BEEN LEAVING THEM INSIDE MORE DURING THE DAY WHILE I AM AT WORK SO THEY ARE NOT SO HOT. SORRY ABOUT YOUR MUSHROOM EATER. MAKES ME CRAZY WHEN THEY DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!! I HAVE ALWAYS FOUND YOGURT, PLAIN TO START WITH, SOOTHS MY TWO TUMMIES WHEN THEY HAVE SUCH LAPSES IN JUDGEMENT AND EAT FUNKY STUFF. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
  • Michelle

I HAVE NOTICED THAT YOU APPEAR TO HAVE BOTH HARDWOOD AND TILE. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BEEN DEBATING THIS FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS. WE FINALLY SETTLED ON AND BOUGHT TILE FOR THE KITCHEN, BATHROOMS, PANTRY AND LAUNDRY ROOM AND HAVE HAD IT IN STORAGE FOR OVER A YEAR BECAUSE WE CAN NOT DECIDE WHICH WOOD FLOORING PRODUCT TO USE. WHAT DO YOU HAVE AND ARE YOU HAPPY? I ALWAYS WORRY ABOUT ACCIDENTS.
  • Michelle

Thanks! I will check into it. My hubby actually prefers the solid wood rather that the "products" that are currently on the market.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thank you. She's so much fun. Your second message to me didn't come through: only *she's...
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Beautiful photos. Love your corgis! awww. I love the photos with them together. Makes me want a 2nd.
  • Pat Grissett

I highly recommend having 2 or 3 or 4! I would have more then 2 but just can't get the husband to agree! The second message was just correcting the quick typing I was doing in the first message.. (a typo!) Sorry.
  • Keri&Merlin(Judy&Alan's Pups)

keri at 16 months, weighs 25 lbs.Merlin,at 8 months already weighs that much. The main reason we were able to get him,was because He's going to be big.The breeder wanted to show him. He's the luv of the 2.Keri is the toy/prey driven and quite the princess!!
  • Keri&Merlin(Judy&Alan's Pups)

thanx again pat!!luv your pics!!talk to u again soon
  • Stephanie Teachout

Thanks for the comment! I just recently moved to Chipley actually. Where did you get your corgis they are beautiful!!! I really want to get a new baby
  • Stephanie Teachout

Aw that is a shame... I want to get healthy corgi's but they (as a breed) are just so hard to find in florida! They just aren't popular here I guess, I have only seen two the whole time I have lived here. I take my dogs to Parkway, but I have taken them to Banfield in Petsmart too before... where do you take yours? I used to have a really good vet when I lived in Gainesville, so any recomendations would be great :)
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

awww. thanks so much. rafa really is a doll. he's very calm and relaxed. TG for the crate. I can get some alone time with lucy and rafa can get needed naps. see, i wasn't kidding when i said that seeing your guys made me want a 2nd corgi! i only hope that one day they will bond like yours. i love the photos of your corgis sleeping together and their puppy pictures––actually i love all your photos. hope to post some of rafa and lucy soon. maybe over the weekend when i have my husband home and a 2nd pair of hands.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thanks so much. He is a sweetie pie.
  • Carole and Sophie

Max and Sophie are so adorable! It sounds like you live on a beautiful place - quiet with so much room to move - free of the noise. I'm a country girl too.
  • Carole and Sophie

Hi Pat! I recently started adding the pumpkin and I was so surprised how much she seems to like it - and it seems to be helping!

As for Sophie's hip dysplasia, the vet said she wouldn't be eligible for a hip replacement (I'm not sure why) - but she will be eligible for the FHO surgery. He wants to see her again in February so we can see if I got the weight off of her and if it is helping with her hips. THe weight she has lost already has made a world of difference. Right now she is doing very well. She just turned 2 in August. Down the road we will probably have to face the surgery.

Good luck with Max and Sophie and changing their diet a bit. Let me know how things go! They look great - but you know I think sometimes with a corgi every bite counts! They can pack on weight really quickly.
