Former elementary school teacher and now a family therapist - with a therapy dog in tow. Since I plan to continue to work with children, I know there's a lot of research out there about the effectiveness of the use of therapy animals in therapy sessions with children.
I adopted a little one Halloween 2010 weekend after losing my beautiful girl River in mid-August 2010. New corgi is also a girl - she was born in the beginning of September and is growing fast! After much consideration I've decided to name her Luna.
Luna is an energetic little bunny hopper, who loves to play, especially with my nieces and nephew. She's very sweet and smart, and has taken to training well. She has already become a Canine Good Citizen, passed her therapy dog control test, and finished her supervised hours to become a therapy dog. We are currently conducting visits at various locations around San Diego. She also comes to work with me.
She's currently 2 years old.
I also adopted a 4-year-old corgi July 2011 who I've decided to name Twinkie. She'd been shaved, had icky teeth, is still a bit overweight, and needs training. All of that will take time to get to where I want her, but she is so sweet! Taking it one step at a time with her. She's so far lost 10 lbs, but we still have a way to go and has celebrated her 6th birthday.
Welcome to the site, Krystle! I'm also from San Diego. I'm so sorry about River. DO you know about the San Diego COrgi meetup group? Sidney is also a therapy dog, with Love on a Leash.
Hi Krystle! I was looking at your page and noticed that we have the same puppy pictures! I placed a deposit with Linda on a female a few weeks ago and I'm going to Hesperia this Saturday to meet with she and the puppies. This is an exciting time and I would love to keep in touch with photos of our puppy siblings! ; )
I'm so torn between the two from the pictures I've received so I am really looking forward to this weekend. I'll let you know which one I choose! As far as names go, I have thought of a million, but I have yet to pick one. It's so fun to have found you on this site and I'm looking forward to watching both of the puppies grow!
Hi Krystle!
Here's your new pumpkin! It was so great to see the puppies today. Both of them are very sweet and I know that you'll just love your girl! She's a little spunky girl and seems to just love attention lol. I'm sure she'll make a great therapy dog! : )
Jay thought of the name when we were still looking for a puppy, and I think Taro suits him well. It could mean either a fruit or big boy (in Japanese). Perfect! Are you sticking with Luna? I think it goes well with the marking on her head. We'll be picking ours up on Friday bcs Saturday is just too long!
Xochitle is unique! I'm not sure if that exceeds two syllables, but I heard it's not ideal to use a name that's more than two syllables for dogs. Not sure if that's true. I sent Courtney a friend request, and I think she might have been in Hesperia the same time as us last Saturday.
Luna is lovely. I'm an ex-New Yorker, so I'd have trouble pronouncing Luna w/o making it Luner. My kids were all born in CA, and before they started pre-school, they spoke with a NY accent. Once they were "Californized" they loved to make fun of my husband's and my accents. I like Echo. I can say it, haha. BTW, I'm an MSW, and was a individual, group & family therapist. Now I'm a lazy bum enjoying the corgi life. I need to update my profile. We have Lucy a 4 yr old red/white pem and a rehomed tri-boy, Rafa, 7 mo.
I loved my time in school for my MSW. Prior to that I was the biggest underachiever and could never imagine loving school. Enjoy your puppy and your studies. Your puppy is adorable!
I can't wait for you to get your little girl tomorrow! The litter has changed so much since I last saw them. Not only are they bigger, they are also more alert and full of energy. Taro was really good during the 1.5 hour drive. No pee, poop, or vomit! I know you have a longer drive, so I wish you the best of luck with your pup.
Definitely! She is such a sweetheart and we're having a great time. Her first vet appointment is today so we'll see how she does there lol. So far she loves to cuddle, be held, and CHEW lol. She bites everything. Potty training is coming along well. I put her in her crate while I went to my morning class and she didn't have any accidents yay! Luna is such a cutie. I love looking at all of your pictures, especially the ones when she was passed out in the car lol.

So happy you're getting a wee baby. Congratulations and so sorry for the loss of River. But, nothing like a little corgi pup to heal your heart.
