Long Beach, NY, but have lived in CA since college.
About Me:
Married with children...all 3 grown and flown the nest.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Have had R & W Pembrokes my whole life, usually in pairs. Lucy, our now 5-yr old charmer, is a delight and keeps us laughing. We purposely picked a petite girl so that we could fly with her in the passenger cabin. We had our maiden voyage CA to NY (w. Lucy in the largest sized airline approved sherpa) and we all survived––esp. me, with the help of a bloody mary!
Fast forward a year and we re-homed a tri-male puppy who would have been in the pound if we didn't intervene. He had been left alone basically 24/7 in a backyard, and was all ribs and ears. He was a handful and the most difficult corgi I had ever owned. I don't know who was more upset by the decision to keep him, Jack, my husband, or Lucy. But all things happen for a reason. He's a wonderful, gentle and loyal corgi and we're all in love with him, including Lucy, (most of the time!), haha. RR turned 1 yo this month & surprised us all by becoming quite the looker. Lucy is 5. RR is twice her size, Everyone thinks that she's the puppy. Ya gotta love happy endings!!!
Sidney had another day of swim therapy, so he's all pooped out now. He's walking more normally but still "bunny hops" from time to time, or stops on walks because his joints get sore. But he has been more of his happy, carefree self lately!
I do try to greet all new members, being an ambassador for the site (along with Natalie and AJ) it's something we ought to do. Sometimes there are a lot of new folks to greet!
Thanks for the welcome! Everyone's so helpful here and I've learned so much about corgis from this site even before little Chewie came into our lives. I hope to learn more and contribute fun stories. :3
Thanks for the gift!! We were married 11-8th in 1975. Seems like forever! 37 Wow! That is great! It is really special to be together that long. I don't forget how lucky I am. It is funny that 11-8th is also Izzy's birthday. She was meant to be with us I think. Are you doing anything special for the Anniversary?
We always go to Florida to my in law's condo for our anniversary then out to a favorite restaurant. I insist that the older we get the more we should celebrate!! With us it is mostly funny cards though...
Hi! I'd love to be friends! :) As for the strutting Chewie pic, yes, that is a photoshopped Leo D. in the background. There was this internet thing where people would photoshop that exact pose of Leo into various photos. I showed my boyfriend the strutting Chewie pic and he went off and put Leo in there! It's extremely silly!
I would also like to say that your corgis are beautiful! Hugs to them all.
I grew up in Fullerton! I live in Nevada now, but my sister still lives in Anaheim. If we ever come out with the dogs, we'll look you up. We got our Corgis from Psos Creek, in Bakersfield.
oh i wish we had two tris!! no, we only have one, and hes on right in the picture..in fact we dont really have any right now! We get to pick him up in 2 weeks! I can hardly wait!!!
also your corgi is a beaut!
I need to post some new photos, because Sophie is now 10 months old! I grew up in the area of Brookhurst and Orangethorpe. I went to St. Phillip Benizi grammar school, Rosary High School, and I graduated from Cal State Fullerton. We moved out of the area in 1978. I love your babies, by the way! I am such a sucker for Corgis! I think they're all SO CUTE!!
How is Rafa doing? I've been a little busy lately but hope to catch up with things soon! I should only have 4 pups left after Sun. and it will be much quiete
Thanks Wendy...hope you're feeling better in the am! We are off to meet a puppy owner tomorrow and it's starting to snow plus it's deer hunting...not looking forward to the drive if it's icy and deer running crazy! I will message you tomorrow and update you more!
Hi! Yes, Her name is Stella, she is an 11month old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. I am still on "trial" So I cant post pictures of her :-( She actually looks a lot like your red corgi. She has the same "stable"?? marking from her head to her nose too. Shes a doodlebug, so shes a tad on the small side. We LOVE her and we want to add a tri-color boy in the near future. LOL yes, I am Scarecrow. Its my "gamer" tag. It asked for you address and zip in the registration, so i figured to put my tag vice my real name;-) I'll let you know when I am off trial and able to post pics.
Thank you for the warm welcome. I can't believe I haven't found this place earlier. I was trying to find suggestions on how to deal with shedding and google pointed me here. Comet is almost 2 and I have never seen his shedding this bad.
Hi again!! Raf and Maria are Stella's owners. Raf would be me (Scarecrow) and Maria is my wife. The "trial" was a waiting period to make sure i'm not a spammer, but I guess after 24hrs I'm good to go. Yes! Stella looks like Lucy, she even has the black mark near her nose. Maria and I are looking into buying a male companion for Stella. We are also looking into getting a tri-colored male like you have. But our boy will never have as cool of a name as your tri does;-) haha. Stella is 11 months and weighs 15lbs. The vet says thats as big as shes gonna get. We get asked all the time if shes the runt, but she isnt. How was Lucy when you brought home a 2nd Corgi? Did you buy Rafa from the same breeder that you bought Lucy? What tpe of food do you feed them? I love the pictures you posted of your little ones. I will add more when I get them off my wife's laptop. Thanks for answering all my questions
Hola, There was no link, sad face. We were using Science Diet small bites, but Stella didnt like it and it looked like a prison sentence when she went to go eat it. So then we tried Dick Van Pattens beacuse we read the ingredients and it seemed like a healthier altnerative, but it gave Stella terrible gas. So now we are feeding her Rachael Ray's Nutrish. We found out about it from doing google searches. She loves that food so far. Just wanted to know from corgi experts what they fed thier puppies.
Congrats on your Stanford win yesterday over Arizona State. Good Job. We had another win too, but it wasn't pretty, but it was a win. Thoses Bears almost pulled it off. Tough team.
Nelly's mum had just gave birth to eight (8) puppies (including nelly).the owner was in hospitak after a stroke he had.. the whole family was actually alpmost abandoned, the neighbours were trying to take care of them all, but the stragked.. so they told a vet about the situatiopn and asked him to find families for the puppies.. i had no interest on adoprind a pet since i live on my own and I thought I wouldn;t make it beiing a good "mum" for my pet.. anyways the vet was a friend of my mine and after telling me the puppies story, decided to see myself that dog-family.. this is where i first saw nelly-immedialtelly fallen in love with her and took her home..since then we are inseperetable :)
Hey Wendy, We safely delivered the pup even in the snowstorm warning and no deer incidents either....it is scary with them as living in farm coutry....we have many!
We actually met them about 3/4th of the way! She had to work and me being me...didn't want them to get home at 10pm and leave again for work the next am...they were going to come down but I figured a day in St. Cloud sounded good...we went out for a nice supper and Wynn is always more than happy just to go for a drive. It's rather quiet here today as another one left and we only have 4 left...much less mess too! So hopefully we will see today's new owner on here also....that will make 100%.
No, I don't plan on keeping any of the last 4 but they're not sold yet! Winter in MN is not a good time to have pups! Yes, I still have the camera jumper! It's much quieter around here and they get the run of the kitchen and hall...I take that back...one just found her "bark"! These guys are much more talkative than Sage's litter was:) Poor new owners...they are always talking back even at 10 weeks!
Thanks so much for the compliment and the welcome! Your babies are beautiful too! Nothing makes me happier than looking at and talking about corgis, so I'm sure I will be visiting this site often!
Hi Lucy,
We have had a number of Corgi's, mostly fosters that we have kept for an average of 6 months, including a litter of pups born last Thanksgiving......each one is unique ~ but Austin is here to stay ~ spoiled as he is ~ yours are beautiful.
Eileen
Thanks for the welcome and your sweet comment! My "baby" is called Panini, and sometimes we just want to throw her clear out the window with all the energy she has...in a good way of course! ;D Nah, we love her to death.
Thank you so much for the welcome to mycorgi.com.
Yes, Stevie Wonder is my daughter's 7 month old kitten. He is orange and white and got his name from the singer. Stevie had a couple cases of conjunctivitus when he was just weeks old and he would sit with the other kittens and just rock his head sideways so we started calling him SW. RadaR, my PWC, took to the kitten from the very beginning and has turned Stevie into as much of a "catdog" as he can be.
The photos of your pups are adorable. I'm partial to the tri-colors myself:)
I might have to pick your brain on training. All the training classes in my area are on nights that I work so I've been trying to get Panini into some semblance of shape. Sometimes I swear she just looks at me like "...lol, you really expect me to sit?"
Katy does the same thing. Her brother (Charlie, half Dauchsund/half Golden Retriever) is scared of me because he mistook the chase game as me being mean to Katy...
No, its not so much that there is a problem between them, Elvis just is not getting as much attention as he deserves not that we have the baby, and I feel terrible about it.
Thanks for the funny welcome. I'm glad my corgi isn't the only p in the a. I think by joining this I'll find out more about them and not feel so picked on by her. ;-) She is leading my pack (of one) right now.
Even though Bella's a pain, if I had another one, I think she'd be less painful. Or do you think they'd form a gang and I'd be the first one outta there? The other dog belongs to a friend. Bella was in awe. She gets along really well with other dogs.
Al's current recommendations: (1) volleyball, lighter and still tooth-resistant; (2) Nike Jr. basketball 7-8" dia., tough toothproof hide.
Al likes to get under the ball and take it on his snout, hard, so I look for lighter balls; I worry about the impact on his neck and teeth.
Soccer balls have that tooth-inviting cushion skin.
Thrift stores, yard sales and rummage sales are great for picking up dog balls. I keep an eye out for dog toys and always try to keep a coupla spares. Dog balls are mortal.
Hi, Yes Hanukkah is early this year although one year it started in November. Since it is for 8 nights it is spread out and with no kids around any more we just pick a convenient night to celebrate.
That is funny that your photos are like mine, almost none of you but plenty of dogs and family members! It is great you have some of your previous pups.
