Thanks for all the comments! lol. I appreciate your info and your help. We're actually looking for another girl because our current girl isn't fixed and we don't want pups of our own anytime soon but we are considering it in the future. $350 is a perfect price but with only one pup being left by the time we got the money together he would probably have found a home. When you go pick up your pup will you ask her if she's going to be having another litter anytime soon? Or if she knows of anyone who will? We're looking to get one early this summer so I'm not in school and we can get the potty training out of the way.

Monica - congratulations on getting you new little "bundle of joy" on Saturday! Remy was our first Corgi - he's a Pem too - and even though my husband was not keen on a Corgi at first (thought it was a typical small, "yippy" dog) I think he loves Remy more than me, if that's possible. Good to see a new Corgi in Austin - I don't see many around and every time we do - we stop the car because we MUST meet all Corgis! Good luck in vet school - hope you stay in Austin when you graduate and start your practice - it will be good to have a vet that knows and loves the breed.

Thanks for the nice comment on Maddie's puppy picture! Honestly no, I don't know when she lost the black on her head. She still has a couple small smudges but she's pretty much totally red now. Yes, it looks like a different dog altogether, doesn't it?

I had a problem with Yuki's ears but I just fed her a TON of calcium stuff like milk in her food along with cottage cheese and poof they popped up.

I love how sweetly Orion is getting along with that kitten.... my pup just tries to eat mine -_-; At least I know my cats can handle themselves. Im glad his ears popped up isn't it exciting?! He has rather large ears so dont be discouraged if they fall again remember CALCIUM!!

lol its gonna sound horrible but at first when i was trying to teach him roll over i kinda pushed him over where he rolled and i went "YAY ROLL OVER" I kinda help him still cuz he gets excited but he rolls onto his back voluntarily now and i give him a gentle shove if he gets stuck and say roll over.. the other day he did a REALLY good Rollover at my moms friends house on linolium floor i was so proud of him... most hte time though he prefers breakdancing instead LOL

Good choice, i just saw a picture with a fully grown corgi in a 24 inch and it seemed like an okay size, i would rather get a 30 inch though. 36 would be too big.

I love Laika's face:) She is a very very pretty girl! I cannot believe the story how some family wanted to let her go just coz a puppy nipped. All the puppies nipped at first until they learned. Families with young children should know things like that before they get puppies. I'm glad she is in the right hand now tho!

I think your babys are darling, my husband and i are thinking about having one litter with carly and keeping one for our selves and for our son who has a male Pembroke .. I believe it will be a good thing for her, shes so active and needs to walk everyday.. and is still begging to play.
Man how i wish we had a dog park like the one you have , corpus is so behind the times!! All we have is a school who lets us use there play ground three times a week..
As i see it the only down side to having two.... as you know they shed so much and right now im a little concerned about more .. because i have a 14month old grand baby who i keep alot and she walks and falls and gets the hair all over her, even though im vacuuming non stop and brushing her everyday.. mercy!! I use to have three dashsunds and all three never had this much hair hahahaha!! This summer when she shed i thought, what the heck is going on and now its happening again~ but i wouldnt change it for anything ... im hooked!!

Your babies are pretty.  I was reading your rescue story....In her defense if I was around 5 kids I would very likely nip someone as well.  LOL  Happy New Year!!!

You've got two stunning-looking corgis... and a penchant for celestial/astronomical names? Is Laika named after the first astronaut (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laika)?
Our first was Sirius (the Dog Star). If I ever had a BHT, I'd name it Procyon (the Little Dog Star, left of Orion, above Sirius) because Procyon is also the genus name of raccoons (the black mask).

Interesting reading about Laika, who was deliberately sacrificed.  Several of the people responsible were remorseful later, saying that not enough was learned to warrant killing a dog.  Research was done on animals (and people) in the 50s & 60s that never would be allowed nowadays.

Two other dogs died in the Soviet space program:  they did have a reentry vehicle, but the retrorocket failed to shut off, slowing it too much so it reentered at too steep an angle and incinerated.

Animal research is kinda gutwrenching (we work with mice, and I don't like to see them in cages)... but if there's a real posssibility of alleviating human suffering... is it ethical NOT to do it...? All these fancy surgical procedures? They practice on dogs. I don't like to think about it.
Fortunately, the regulations (at least here at UW) on animal research seem stringent and enforced; the animal rights people can be a real pain in the ass, but I think it's very important to have watchdogs. You have to jump through a lot of hoops to experiment with animals. We would NEVER, for instance, get away with anything so gratuitously invasive as docking a dog's tail, and our mice get better medical care than many people do.
Luckily for me, it seems our experiment is a total failure and none of our transgenic mice have gotten sick. Not so lucky for the people we're trying to help.
