Hello, we also have a pem from Great Basin Corgis. She is a 6 month old black headed tri. Ollie sounds like a sweet heart. What is a Bob-a-lot? We may need to get one... Callie says hope to hear from you...
Thanks for the tip on the Bob-A-Lot. Sounds great! Anything to keep them occupied for a while. I'm so happy you are getting another puppy from Michele. I would get another one too but I have a 10 yr old Aussie mix that is Callie's best buddy. He has been a real help training her. I don't think we have room for a third dog right now. Best Wishes training Ollie.
Thank you for all the wonderful tips! I have heard about the Comfortis and will have to look into it. We bought frontline, but we noticed she has still been scratching and biting a bit. I haven't found any fleas on her yet.
I have been looking into Trupanion too, because the premium does not increase with your furry ones age like most other insurances. I'm not in any hurry though, so I guess I will keep researching.
We can't wait to take our little Maya to corgi playdates, but she's only 3 months. 1 more month to go and you will definitely be seeing us!
We bought Oatmeal shampoo. I'm pretty sure it's sulfate free, but I will have to double check. We have yet to give her, her first bath. We read that you should wait to she is acclimated first. We have only had her for a wk and a half. So far we have just been wiping her down and washing paws.
Glad to hear you will be getting another pup from Michele!! I would get another pup also except I have an older dog who couldn't deal with 2 crazy little pups around. I'm sure they will keep you busy....Just get past the first year.
Hi there! I was just wondering if you know, if they will be meeting at that park in redondo beach next sat and sun? Maya is getting her last set of shots today and if she is feeling well, we were thinking about dropping by!
We will definitely be back. We missed you the last time we went, maybe 2-3 wks ago. It's been busy for us, so we have been taking her to more local parks (Pasadena & Silverlake). We won't make it out this wknd, but the following weekend we will for sure be there! :) Btw, I saw the WLA meet-up, keep us updated we might try and make it out to that one as well!
The next picnic event will be the club's Corgi Fun Day on 6/18/11. It isn't yet posted on the website, but will be soon. You can check http://pwccsc.org/ and then click on the Events link. It is always lots of fun...of course there are lots of Corgis! Check the site for pictures from last year's Corgi Fun Day! It will be held at Featherly Park, AKA: Canyon RV park...so there is camping too, we usually camp there for 4 days.
Hmmm...I'm afraid I can't place them, off the top of my head. Maybe if I saw their doggies, I would remember. ;-) I didn't know there was an official organizer of the Redondo meetup. It has been going on so long, I thought it just a tradition?
I am glad you are not naming the new puppy Penny, as that is an extremely common name for all reddish-brown dogs. You would meet lots of Golden retrievers as well as corgis with that name. Foxy, Shorty and Stretch are also common pet corgi names, I've found. Preeti is nice because everyone can pronounce it, and it shows your Indian roots. Is Winslow-Porter the breeder's name? Since my dog training name is Glenmar, Lacey's whole name is Glenmar's Lacey Beatrice, which sounds more feminine than the actual doggie! Are you able to come Sunday, or too busy?
I really like the name you picked for the puppy. When is the mom due to be whelped? We will miss you on Sunday. I just picked up a license for Lacey from the WLA shelter today, and drove home by way of Barrington to see if I could find the dog park. Is it in the recreation center close to Sunset?
thanks! i would definitely love to come to my first meetup soon but I'm sick right now and it's full blown and doesn't seem to be going anywhere =( but I'm going to keep my eyes open for the next meetup that's close enough that we can attend!
Mochi just had his last shots. hooray! we can't wait to have him actually play this time at the dog park. we'll be there this Saturday :) see you there!
I got Toby from Pecan Farms in Mayflower, Arkansas. There are breeders who live closer, but I specifically wanted a tri-color and that was the closet breeder who had one. He's just the best dog ever. I think the breeder prefers her dogs to be show dogs, but his markings aren't correct so he isn't eligible to show. I didn't want to show so I'm OK with that. We have Toby and just rescued Henry, who is a Pem. From my experience, Cardis are a shyer than Pems, but both are great dogs. Good luck to your mom finding her Cardi! And your little Ollie is adorable!!
oh hey, look at that, you are local :-) well, we used to go herding in Long Beach, but switched to a place in Riverside that we liked better. The drive is kind of far, but it's on the weekends. It's a nice little family outing. We haven't gone in ages though. We are planing a trip soon though, to have Cali, our new little one try it out.
Oh yeah, I did hear about this place in Malibu. I think the coach there is Judy. My Riverside coach talks about her sometimes. In Riverside it's basically a big property with three rings to practice in. A small herding ring, medium and a big one. The Long Beach only has one ring to practice in (very big), so it's kind of harder for beginners. Not sure about Malibu.
Every instructor is a little bit different. We did Long Beach for a long time, and it just didn't work for us. We are very happy with Riverside (except the distance of course ).
Ollie will be a year in April??? you should definitely try it out with him. You can tell pretty quickly if he has the eye for it or not. The first time you go in, they do what is called an instinct test. We took Bailey for the first time when she was 5 months old, and she immediately took to it. Cali is about 6 months now, and we need to get her tested soon ;-)
Awwh, well congrats! Do you have any names picked out? That's always the fun part of getting a new puppy! I am sure you are excited, I know I would be too if I was able to get another corgi, or puppy! Oh yes, I am sure Ollie will be a little jealous at first but then they will love each other and will be playing with each other all the time! My aunt and uncle got a new dog over the summer, a little lab/chow mix and there other dog at the time didn't really know what to think of this new puppy. Now, he follows him everywhere! Especially at the dog park, since the puppy is now bigger than him! lol :]
hm, I don't think I ever replied to your last message regarding the contact for the herding places...so sorry...ok, so the one in LB is here http://home1.gte.net/jerstew/training.html
Hey! Thanks for adding us and I'm glad you liked my counting comment on my page. :o) Ollie is freakin' adorable, if we lived a bit closer we'd love to have a play date. Murphy loves other dogs. Looking at your pictures makes me miss when Murph was a puppy. Awww..
heyyy i figured out how to make a survey to get everyones preference on time and location for corgi meet ups, and even which park you prefer. Click here to take the survey. Just two simple questions : )
Thanks for headsup for rodondo doggie park. We will try in 2 weeks. Coming sunday is the evaluation day for adoption. We r home free after that :) hope to see and meet other corgies.

You will have to keep me posted on all baby Prie news. I am a hopeless puppy lover, and corgis are the cutest of all.
Lacey might be going to a herding instinct test March 17th. I'll keep you posted.
