Congrats on your new babe, Maya! What a cutie pie! Ollie is now 6.5 months and I can't imagine not having him.. I miss him and get excited on my drive home knowing I get to see him still :) I'll definitely let you know when I figure out what to do in terms of pet ins... I'm leaning Trupanion at the present.

In terms of tips, anters & old toothbrushes w/ doggy toothpaste (new one once a week and he'll learn to brush his own teeth) as chews, http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ led us to our choice of wellness puppy food/treats (he gets 2/3 cup, 2x/day which is wayyyy less than suggested on the bag but he's at the perfect weight and energy.. and 3-4 treats a day), arid extra dry spray deoderant to spray on things like carpet and things you don't want her to chew, and for toys the tuffies toys and bob-a-lot toy are awesome! Ollie also loves water bottles... which are pretty safe with the cap off :) Hope that's helpful!

Also, please please please come to meet the local corgsters during corgi time at the park! We meet every Saturday & Sunday at 8am-8:45am at Redondo Beach Dog Park.. it's well worth the trek! It's early but that's best for extra furry breeds like our corgis and you'll meet an amazing networ of corgis owners... on a good day we'll have 25+ corgis show up :) Ollie and I are almost always there and b/c he's been going from 4 months of age, he's very well socialized which makes it really easy with him out and around LA!

And anyway, I would love to meet Maya and the other corgsters will just drool over her :) It's a great way to set up playdates & helpers as well.. which comes in handy if you have an emergency and need someone to watch her for a day :)

oops, just wanted to add that fleas are particularly bad this year so most of the corgis I know (Ollie included) have gone on Comfortis flea preventative monthly pill instead of topical which although many are listed as waterproof, they get stripped off durign shampooing... I wish I'd known that from the beginning since they can pick up flea from anywhere! ok, I'm done now :)

yay! can't wait! I actually brought Ollie the the park the day he turned 4 months... so glad I did :) I'm not in a hurry with the insurance either so I'm just going to keep hunting as well.
As for the itching, Ollie got extra itchy for a bit and switching to an all natural oatmeal based shampoo helped -- just make sure it's sulfate free!

haha! you guys don't need any tips; you've done all the research already :) I think I gave Ollie a bath the second day he was home.. just make sure it comes with treats, praises and only in warm water... he loves it now and i just put him in the shower with me so it's easy! Also, my vet says once a week is a-ok as long as you use sulfate free shampoo so that's what I do with Ollie :)

I'd do the Really Reliable Recall (Emergency Recall) thing. I think it's discussed on this site. We use the Latin/Italian word for "come!" ("venite' ") and crisp bacon chips as the high-value reward; it's the only time they EVER get bacon, so they think "venite" means "bacon" and they come fast when they hear it!

yes, I'm sure there will be Corgis & their people there next Sat & Sunday :) Ollie and I will be there for sure! Can't wait to meet Maya!

Hi, thank you for coming!  It is always fun to have more Corgis at the Pasadena dog park.  We should try to do it monthly!  Let me know the next time you are at the park and I will bring the donut. 

I heard that we missed y'all! We've been on a weird schedule bc of the holidays and are just, as of last week, back to our weekly park schedule :) We're committed to Redondo park on most every Sat & Sun morning, 8ish-9ish.. the only times we don't make it are due to travel. I hope we do get a WLA meetup together, will def keep you posted!

Thank you for letting me know about the WLA meet up.  I am thinking about coming.  P & P need a new adventure.  I have the donut for Maya!  Hopefully we will see you soon.  Arlene

I was going to try to make it to Pasadena today, but Milo is still worn out from yesterday and slept the whole day!  Ha!

No problem!  I am glad that someone can use it.  P & P actually loved sleeping on it so I just let them play with it before their surgery!  We will be at the park next weekend so hopefully we will see you.  No worries about Maya's upcoming event..she will be fine! 

Gracie's getting spayed on February 8. Hope it goes well for Maya.

I believe we waited 2 weeks.  Lots of long walks and errands.  We took them to the outlets in the desert and ventura...they got tons of attention plus the long ride helps.  I would wait a week and if it looks good then playing should be ok but wait another 2 weeks before coming back to the dog park.  Sorry!

Also we had friends/family over...be creative...time will fly fast.  By the 3rd week, Maya should be able to handle slightly longer walks : )

Yoshi is almost 4 months now and when we weighed him a few days ago, he was about 10 pounds, maybe 11.

Hi, I was wondering if you guys would like P & P's old plastic puppy pen?  We used it in lieu of keeping them in their crate during the day.  It does take up space but very useful.  : )

Hi, we can't make it at the park tomorrow.  Penelope is sick so we better stay away.  We are heading up North on Wednesday so we will be back the 1st weekend in July!  Hope you all are well.  Give Maya a big hug from her friends.

Hi, we are back from SF!  The dogs had 3 days of beach and ball.  We met up with Parker's relative Bailey at Crissy Field and there were 3 other Corgis there so it was sorta like a meet up.  Will be at the dog park this weekend and hope to see you guys.  Hope all is well.

Happy Birthday Maya!  Great to see you yesterday!  We are going to Redondo Beach on Saturday...hopefully we can leave by 7...let's celebrate Maya's birthday at the park!  : ) 

Oh poor Maya...hope she feels better soon.  I would keep her meals simple.  Generally when P & P throw up, I just give them white rice with ground chicken or turkey (no dog food) and no treats and after 1 or 2 meals of rice and chicken...their stomachs feels better.  Hopefully now that you 2 are home, Maya will feel better. 

Oh, tell Evan, that Perry and I got an Ipad on line!  We didn't want to go to the store...: )
