About My Corgi(s):
Sidney is our first purebred corgi and we are thrilled to have him. He was born 7/11/07. We planned to start him in agility training, but there was a long waiting list. So while waiting for an opening, we took classes for therapy dog training. As it turns out, he's a pretty good therapy dog, so we stuck with that and never got around to agility. Now he is training as a Rally dog. We love it! He's one smart little character! Oh, and he's undocked, so his beautiful tail attracts a lot of attention - good attention.

On August 30th, Sidney suddenly came up lame in his hind left leg. The next day we got xrays for him and found out he has severe hip dysplasia. On Sept 7th he had a Femoral Head Ostectomy to relieve the pain. His right hip is not in great shape either but we're hoping that with glucosamine supplements and exercise we can keep it healthy. *Update* You would never know Sid has surgery now. He moves beautifully. The water therapy and supplements have worked wonders.

baby

Bruce is our corgi/elkhound (?) mix. We rescued him from the brink of euthanasia when he was approximately 10-11 years old (he had a day or two left to go). He's about 16 now and his only sign of his advanced age are bad teeth and slow mornings. I adore Brucie and he worships me. He's my funny short angel with a puffball tail (thanks to the elkhound side). He's about 18 now and going strong.

Chester is our "tall dog". He's a black dane/lab mix that we got from a "free to good home" ad in the local newspaper. He's also old, about 15 years old. We know his age because we've had him 14 years, and he was an adult when we brought him home! He's a very serious dog and not very affectionate compared to the corgis, but he has been a very good dog, just aloof. We can't take Chester as many places as the shorties because he does not travel well. He's almost 17 now and has definitely slowed down. *UPDATE* Chester had a sudden decline and was sent to the bridge on April 15th 2013 at the age of 17.

In February 2013 we added Connie to our family. She's a little tri corgi who was picked up as a stray and put up for adoption at our local Humane Society. She's a real sweet girl and loves to play ball. She's learning a lot from Sidney about life here. We can't believe that her family never came to claim her. She's got good manners and she gets along well with the other dogs and the cats, and everyone she meets is her best friend.

And the pack grows! In November we took in a black-headed tri who we named Copper. He and Connie were both born in 2009 and they are great buddies and a ball-chasing tag team. Copper is sweet and cuddly and eager to please.

I just realized that Sid, Ein and Tucker are all 4 this year!!
  • Carly & Ein

Thanks for the welcome! I can't imagine Ein not liking toys. We have to hide his squeaky balls on top of the fridge, otherwise he will play with them constantly!

  • Suzanna van Eeghen

Thank you for you welcome. Look forward to reading about Corgis all over the world...
  • Laurel

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. We're excited to find such a great group of fellow Corgi lovers.
  • Shayla Delaunay

I actually didn't name him after anything but I do get asked that all the time!
The name Bastian was just perfect and I thought it was funny that it meant something along the lines of "worthy of reverence."
  • Shayla Delaunay

And also thank you for your warm welcome!

Hello and thank you for the welcome! My corgi's name is Carmina, she is 4 months old. I would like to have her certified as a therapy dog, my boyfriend is 3rd year med student and I know he would love to have her work at hospital in the future. She is so friendly and loving, I think this may be her calling. Did you find the certification process difficult?
  • Gracie

Thanks for the warm welcome! Your corgi is too precious! =)

    Hi Geri and Sidney,

Thanks for your welcome! The kitten, Jeter, and our puppy, Oliver Wendell, do get along and they romp around the house chasing each other. Sometimes we think Oliver can get a bit rough with the kitty but Jeter keeps coming back for more. It's also funny when Oliver is in his crate and Jeter will prance around in front of his crate as if to say "Ha ha! I'm out here and you're in there."We got Jeter from a shelter so he actually thought when I brought him home the crate was his new home. It's a lot of work, let me tell you. Like parents again! We filled out our empty nest very quickly with these two! I am posting a pic of Oliver and am going to send this one or another for the calendar. THis is a cool website! What's the name of your Corgi and how old is he? Do you have other pets as well? I'm new to the site so I'll have to get used to navigating around it.

Hi ! Thanks for the welcome. I learned of this website at a local pet store. My corgis names are Sophie and Shia.... I am wanting to rehome Sophie however . She is so good, listens well but with both being females and of the same litter, they are competing to be both alphas inthe home so they dont get along well they dont like to share! . I dont know what to do, I hate to have her leave our family, but I want her to be happy.

Thank you for the warm welcome . We don't quite have him home with us yet, he is only two weeks old. But we have him a name picked out (tank) we have never had a corgi before. But have wanted one for several years. I wanted to join this to have a way to talk to other corgi owners and be able to have a way to ask questions.
  • Dani.

    Hello Geri and Sidney,

thank you for your e-mail! We have just adopted our Foxy or Daisy ( still deciding which name fits best) a few days ago. We are so excited to be in Corgi-world!

She is super-sweet, a couch potato and mellow. Her coloring looks very much like Sidney's. How wonderful Sidney is! We just went to corgi.com and started reading about Sidney.

We have a lot to learn about Corgis. We had German Shepards before.

    Talk to you again soon,

    Daniela

Thank you Geri & Sidney! We're happy to be part of a Corgi community. Sampson's been the love of our life since we rescued him 8 years ago. And though we only rescued Rusty & Shiloh a little over a year ago, they've become well loved members of the family too. I'm glad to hear you were able to raise the money for your Sidney's surgery. If you have any advice for me about how to raise funds for his surgery, I'd love to hear it. Thanks again for the warm welcome!

  • Sandra Raigoza

    Thank you vert much :-}

Hello my fellow 4-legged friends! Thanks so much for such a sweet welcome!

     Let's stay in touch! ^..^

  • Spike & Ein

Thank you! I'm currently in Okinawa, Japan for 2 more years since my husband is in the Airforce. Oh really? Where in Japan? I stayed in Tokyo for 2 weeks when I was in school as a part of a cultural immersion program and it's amazing there!

  • Kimberly Colette Arvold

Thank you :) Yes, I'm so excited to get started. My training doesn't start officially until January... then she still has to pass the test and get certified. It's going to be a long, but fun process. She has been through 5 different obedience classes, so I think she's ready to move forward. I'm SO excited! Let me know how you like the reading program, just found out about these at "Paws on the Grand" this year.

Sidney is a beautiful dog! This is my first Corgi and I'm hooked! It will be Corgi's from now on :)

    Blessings,

    kimi

  • Amanda Saul

Thank you! We were just in the park the other day getting some picures done and saw a Corgi Meet up! I had never heard of such a thing so I looked it up and found it! Our lil girl would LOVE to meet some friends that are more like her!

  • Courtney Linton Murkland

:) Im hoping to make it to Corgi Meet Up one of these days in SD. Maybe Ill see you there!

  • Dawn M.

Thank you for the welcome. Arwyn is from the Lord of the Rings (not a big fan, but since she was almost 6 when we rescued her, we didn't want to change her name. Her brother rescued by another family was "Baggins." ) Her name has grown on me, although she has several nicknames "Ari" and "Winnie." I'm not sure where we got Percy from...possibly Thomas the Train. :)

  • Courtney and Webley <3

Thank you so very much for the welcome. Your baby Sid is just a heartbreaker. How AWESOME that you have an undocked corgi. I tried soooo very hard to find a breeder that would allow me to not have the tail docked. If he hadn't been "perfect" aka show ready, then he wouldn't have had his tail docked. My breeder was wonderful though and was going to keep little Webbles for herself to show but then when his testicles didn't descend (oops!) he was mine....woohoo!! :)

I hope Sidney is feeling better, how awful to have that happen. Luckily he has a wonderful family!

  • Sandra Raigoza

    Thank you for the add :×}
  • Stephanie G.

    Thank you very much!

Hi: My husband teaches Biology at Costa Mesa High. I love your page. I am trying to learn how to do stuff- like a big long story about my dogs. After looking at yours, I guess I can put more in the profile. I have added descriptions to a lot of my pictures. Do readers know to look for them? Ahhh, I have so much to learn- at my age!

  • Carolyn Medlock

Hi, my oldest is 12 and her name is Foxy. Wolff is 9 almost 10 and Duncan is 5 1/2...

I grew up in Alaska and moved to Nevada 6 yrs ago and am looking at moving back to Alaska asap...my oldest kids dont like heat, they are cold weather kids....Carolyn

  • Arthur Eschenburg

Teddy still is very special to us, and he always will be.

As far as the gun shooting, thats relatively new, and one of my lesser hobbies, plus the age difference isnt that far off between myself in your son, so that could be a factor, never really saw the thing in collecting knives except to use for camping and whatnot.

But thank you so much for the comment!

  • Ryan Wagner

Hi, nice to meet you! I work for the Coeurage Theatre Company in Hollywood. I sure do miss San Diego, though. Someday I'll be back. Which theater(s) do your children work for? I worked at La Jolla Playhouse and Moonlight a couple times, maybe I ran into them!

  • Dana Collier

Thanks for the Welcome! I posted some pics so you can put a face with a name!
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Haha. I loved your line, "we don't need no stinkin' papers!" Ricky-Rafa and I totally agree.
