My name is Whitney Hamm and I'm from Joplin, MO. I'm new to the corgi world. I adopted my first corgi in the summer of 2010. Jasper was amazing and I loved him so, so much. Sadly he died from Addison's disease, a genetic disorder, only a few months ago in September. He was only 4 years old. I made the choice to adopt another pembroke, Ariel, in October. Who knew this little girl would bring so much laughter and joy into my life?
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Ariel is around four years old. When she was adopted out of the humane society she had a severe case of kennel cough, which quickly developed into pneumonia. She slept through most of her first few weeks with me.
After the illness passed, I began to see the true Ariel. First I should probably note that Ariel is a Pembroke corgi. A small Pembroke! She's only about 22 pounds. She's a lap corgi in every sense of the word. She actively seeks out petting and will go to any length to get what she wants. She'll howl to be sure you noticed her and roll around on the floor to show off her tummy (tummies attract petting). If all else fails, she'll just jump onto the sofa and bulldoze her way into your lap. (or strategically position herself in the seat next to you, if you happen to be eating)
Welcome to MyCorgi.com its a wonderful site, you'll both have fun!!
Always fun to meet a Corgi lover and from the same city.
You girl is adorable!! And thank you for giving her a furever home~
Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved Jasper so sad.
I have four dogs, 3 are rescues (bentley a tri-colored Corgi) my other rescues are RK and Cabo (both a mix of shih tzu and lhasa/maltese) they came before i fell in LOVE with Corgis!!
And finally my Tri colored girl Brodi was a gift for my birthday after the sudden loss of my first Corgi Cooper that we loved so much!
Hi, Whitney! Welcome to MyCorgi.com! It made me smile to read your description of Ariel and her sneaky techniques for getting attention and love, especially the bulldozing into one's lap part :)
I'm a first time Corgi owner (will bring the puppy home in a few weeks) and I am very excited to finally have one!
I really love your pictures! I am so sorry to hear about Jasper! You must have been devestated! But lucky Ariel has found herself a great new mom! She is gorgeous, and sound like a real sweetheart!
Whitney, nice to have you on board! I am new to mycorgi also. It is a very addicting site! I notice you have some pictures of a black and white spaniel, is she yours? I have an English Springer. I also have a corgi mix who was rescued from the Joplin area. Snickers is my full corgi and a full handful. She is also small, 23 pounds, but snuggling is the last thing she wants to do. Funny how they can be so different and so the same, too. Be sure and check out the "itty bitty corgi committee" group.
