Ugh! I don't have my work schedule yet (12 hr. nights at the hospital), most likely every thursday... maybe we can do it one of the furlough days the state gave Joel off.
This sounds like a great event but I can't make this one. Please let me know when you plan another event. I have never walked the riverfront and am sad that I have to miss it.
dont know if we will be there today. Tom has a ride that was rescheduled for this morning, and I am not sure if he will be back in time :(
We will try, and definitely keep us posted for the next one.
So Bonnie Joel and I went to the dog park behind the east lansing aquatic center last week, everything was fine until a young husky came, beautiful dog, black with blue eyes, anyway, this dog wouldn't stop harassing Bonnie! He kept knock her over, trampling her and even peed on her! He had her pinned on the ground when we were finally able to get that dog off her. She tried doing submissive gestures and showed her teeth when it pinned her but the dog would leave her alone. To top it off, the owner did nothing! in fact as we were leaving ( it really didn't take us very long to get her and go) he made a nasty comment something along the lines of we shouldn't come to the dog park if we can't handle it. Made both of us SO angry! and we felt bad for miss Bonnie. No more EL dog park for us!
Oh that is a drag! When we were there the people were nice and so were the dogs that were there! That is always my problem with dog parks. We have been to some that have a small dog area which makes me feel a little safer but none of them are here in Lansing. I still think a meet up in my back yard might be a good idea. It is fenced and private and I have bathrooms! Nothing but the best for us...
Thanks ya'll! Bonnie thanks you too. It really is fine, was wondering though if other corgis go through the same stuff? In any case, we'd still like to meet some corgis around here sometime, whether at a park or at Bevs! :)
A really good trainer we went to told me dogs that are "different" looking can often be targets for dogs that are a little "off balance" so I have always been concerned when we are in a group of dogs. Sparty never seems to be the target of other dogs. I think it is because he is so dominant himself where as Izzy and Buffy always seem to be. They were always a little submissive. It is amazing how much more careful I find that people are with their dogs when I have the doberman with us. Guess I should not let on that our declawed cats boss her around!
Meanwhile we are home the this weekend and the next and I can meet during the week too. Any ideas? We could meet in East Lansing and walk on campus. Leashes would be a pain but it is pretty there. Or like I said my yard is available. I live in Haslett by Lake Lansing park north.
Willy and I would love to come over to play after work some night this week! We are also going to Annabelle's Pet Station on Capitol in Lansing today from 2-4. They are having a playgroup. One of the owner's of the store is in our Meridian Dog Park Planning Group and invited us - you should come too!
How about Monday night or Wednesday night?? Around 6 or 6:30? Either would work for me. I will check the weather forecasts not that they are that accurate!
I am thinking Wednesday night instead because Misty and Sparty were throwing up yesterday. They probably just ate something but I want to make sure they are not sick before any one comes over. I sent messages with my phone number.
The MSU dog show is the weekend after Thanksgiving. Pembroke Corgis are at 11:00 and Cardigans at 1:30 on Saturday. I did not check the Sunday times but I will. It is a fun show as there is Obedience, Agility & Conformation. I will be there and would love to see other Mycorgi folks there!
Hello fellow Michiganders!
I am going to be in Lansing MI the weekend of 1/16/10 and was wondering if anyone knew of a good dog park or would like to meet up Sunday (1/17/10) morning/afternoon?
I am pretty new to Corgi ownership and would love to get to know people around the area (I'm from Saginaw, but travel to Lansing frequently).
Does anyone want to help plan a meetup for the summer or spring...I really want to get together with some fellow corgi lovers and their corgis. I am jealous of the FL and CA group (lol) they have meetups rather regularly.
I am in! I am willing to meet somewhere. Unfortunately we don't have a dog park with a small dog area. Some of us met last spring at my house in Haslett.
Barkley would love this! If someone else will set this up I'll be sure to make it if I have the time available. I'd be willing to travel just about anywhere in metro Detroit.
Hi all, it looks like the 24th of April will be the date. Greg: I will do some checking and post hotels sometime later in the week. I am so happy we are having a good response. I know the date is a little far out there, but I figured it might be nicer weather, hopefully. Plus I had a knee replacement a month ago and I needed some healing time.
It's been too long since I checked my account!
I have 2 corgis who would love to attend. Since we moved out to Grass Lake they haven't had any play dates. Which dog park was chosen? Don't the A2 dog parks require permits?
Could someone please verify about the permits? Can we get one day permits? I would hate to drive all the way down to Ann Arbor and it be the one day they do check for permits.
