We had a blast at the meetup today! It was so much fun to meet all of you. After the meetup I took Daisy home (she was totally pooped out) and went to the dog show. I had never been and it was so much fun watching the agility and flyball! We decided to go back Sunday so if any of you plan to go let me know and we will try to meet.
  • Jessica & Johann

we had such a great time yesterday- it was so awesome to meet you all and your corgis. totally excited for the next one :)
  • Kara with Dasiy & Scout

I posted some pictures on my page from the meetup Saturday. I just took random pictures so I didn't get everybody. I also did not take a group shot but I am sure we will get some of those later. See you soon!
  • Brian & Spencer

Has anyone else posted pictures from July's Meetup ?
  • Jessica & Johann

I regrettably left my camera at home that day :(  Making sure I put it in my purse for next month's meet up!
  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

I hope to get mine up later this week, I'm backed up on my pics right now :)
  • Lori and Renato (Eevee)

I was a little focused on the puppies!!!  I like to photograph them because they are puppies for such a short time :)

  • DeeDea & Pudge

Very very important question. We want Pudge to be a swimmer and not a sinker, alas we have no pool and the ocean down in Gavelston is a little chaotic. Any recommendations of where I can teach my pup to swim? I'm a little scared of the wade pools at the dog parks (giardia looooove to live in dog swimming holes). Lakes? Coves? Any Houstonite corgi lovers with a pool wanna teach Pudge how to swim? I guarantee cuteness. :)
  • DeeDea & Pudge

I have no votes of preference for this meet up, but I think the September meet up should be at the Boneyard a bar for dogs and their owners. :)
  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

I think most of us let our pups swim at the dog parks. The 3 we've let our dogs swim in have circulating water & they've never been sick from getting in. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of nice rivers or lakes nearby. I wouldn't let my boys get into lake Houston for anything. There is Clear Lake down 45 that's not that clear :)
If you're looking for doggie pools there is always Rummey's:

  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

Hubby says if we had a pool we would love to witness the Pudginator learning to swim!
  • Erin Highfill

Decker just moved down to Galveston and I'd love for him to meet some other corgis!  He hasn't been around any since I brought him home from the breeder!  And my beagle (Bailey) teases him for not having a tail...  (seriously!  She struts around the house with this superior, smug look on her face, though that might just be her personality...)  Is there going to be a Houston meet up soon?
  • Sara, Angus and Potatoes

Hey Erin, he's so cute, we usually have a meet up once a month, usually at the end of the month. We like to rotate the parks where we meet b/c that way we can be fair to everyone. no words yet on where, but it seems like there is one vote for August 27th, and no objections yet.
  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

I custom ordered this adorable figurine from the talented artist behind Bonjour Poupette on etsy. It's a gift for my husband's 40th birthday but, I'm so in love with this adorable figurine I thought I'd share!

Hey guys, I would like to send out the message for this month's meetup soon. Any objections to the 27th? Hubby suggested we try for 8:30 because of the heat. Do you guys want to go back to Danny Jackson or Bill Archer or try someplace new?
  • Kara with Dasiy & Scout

The 27th sounds good! I am not a morning person but for the corgis I can be there at 8:30. Danny Jackson is closer but I love the Bill Archer park. If we get there early we can get the spot in the shade near the dog pond.
  • Jenny & Bentley

The 27th is great for Bentley and I! We really like the Bill Archer dog park but either one is pretty close to us. Looking forward to see everyone!
  • DeeDea & Pudge

i would like to go to bill archer. we've never been. we went to danny jackson over the weekend and it was waaaaaaaaaaaay too hot for my chocolate bar. we can come on the 27th! but oh gosh, 830, you morning birds are killing me. ;) anything for the corgis!!!
  • Jessica & Johann

Either is fine but we prefer Bill Archer :) can't wait for the 27th!
  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

Looks like Bill Archer is going to be the place. We usually do 9 in the summer because it's so hot, but it's been crazy hot, so hubby suggested 8:30, to try & avoid the worst. DeeDea, we promise later times for our 2, maybe 3 months of cooler temps ;)
  • Kara with Dasiy & Scout

September 4th is Dog Day at Minute Maid park and you can bring your dog to the Astros game. If anyone is interested in going here is the link: http://houston.astros.mlb.com/hou/ticketing/dog_day.jsp?partnerId=a... Before the game they have a dog parade and let you walk around the outside track of the field and there is also a costume contest. I am sure it is guaranteed to be a fun and noisy event!
  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

We've been several times & it's fun! The dog parade around the warning track before the game is very cool, it's interesting to see the park from the field. They even provide "dog sitters" to hold your dog so you can get food (health code prevents unpackaged food being sold in dog section).
  • Erin Highfill

I don't think Decker and I are going to be able to make it on the 27th, but we look forward to meetin up next month! And thanks so much for the info about dog day with the Astros! What an awesome group y'all have!
  • Sarah C.

I have GOT to make it to one of these!
  • Brian & Spencer

Won't be able to make it this month, going to be out of town. But I plan on seeing y'all in September.
  • Lori and Renato (Eevee)

Can't wait until the 27th! My husband is going to bring his two little sisters to enjoy the corgi fun!
  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

  • E

Does anyone want to meet earlier?  I have a commitment at 9 so I would actually have to leave before the meetup started.  I'll make plans to get there at 7:15 so if anyone else wants to get there earlier, look for two corgis.
  • Jessica & Johann

Good news: finally found a job that's flexible with school schedule!

Bad news: they want me to start tomorrow morning :(   guess we will have to ask off for the next meet up :( :(

But, my bf and I plan on trying out the Boneyard Drinkery on Sunday.. probably around noon when it opens or a little later.  If we see any other Corgis there, we will give them the word about the Houston meet up group.  We regret not being able to make it in the morning- hope you all have a wonderful time!

  • George & Newman

Newman and George had a blast at their first Corgi meetup today!  We'll certainly be at more, and now that we know what to expect, we'll be better preprared for them to stay out longer next time :)
  • DeeDea & Pudge

pudge needs to learn some manners. does anyone have any recs for obedience classes? i tried petiquette but they are booked.
  • Sarah C.

  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

Advance notice for the 9th annual Corgi Celebration in Buda, TX.
    http://www.corgicelebration.com/

Also looking at the 24th for our next monthly meetup. Pudge wants to meet at the Boneyard in the Heights. I think this is a great idea & would be a fun change of pace. What time DeeDea?
  • DeeDea & Pudge

Oh yeah! I made a suggestion, too funny. I think 7:30 or 8pm would be a good time to meet up at the Boneyard. They have a pretty nice backyard / deck facility. They also have a lot of food trucks that meet up there in the parking lot. The 24th would be fine. What say yee corgi lovers? Beer... corgis... can life get better than that? I don't think so.
  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

Hubby is all in for the Boneyard on the 24th at 7:30.
  • DeeDea & Pudge

Alright 7:30pm Boneyard it is! Woot!!
  • Kathy Sanouvong

Hi everyone! i'm new here..and was wondering about these corgi meet ups in houston? i have a baby corgi!
  • Kara with Dasiy & Scout

I wanted to thank you, Michelle, for the awesome dog treats you made for us at the last meet-up. Dasiy said they were corgi-licious and even shared with Jessie when we got home. Also, thank you for sharing the MyCorgi.com cards to hand out to other corgi owners we meet. You are awesome!
  • Kara with Dasiy & Scout

We had a blast at the Astros Dog Day! Daisy was really good and did not bark too much. (Really!) It was so funny to see all the dogs at the game. I heard there was an Aeros Dog Day too and I am looking forward to it!

  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

Awwwww!  That is adorable, I'm so glad you guys had fun!  We've been twice & have had a blast!  Keep us updated on Aeros Dog Day, we haven't done that one before.

You are so welcome!  I enjoy baking and come on - Corgi cookies make it even more fun.  The cards are to help us all not look like the crazy Corgi people when we see another Corgi in the wild and try to explain this little corner of the internet :)  I'll have them at all future meetings for anyone interested.  Just trying to be a good group founder & recruit new members.

We are looking forward to the Boneyard!  We are dog sitting for our friend with the Pom/Corgi mix so I'll have a third furry one.

  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

Here's the cutie we'll be dog sitting, he was at the last meet up but was shaved.

    This is Lance pre-shave:

  • DeeDea & Pudge

dawww yay! new puppy! michelle, did you make an event for boneyard? i can't wait! bring some cash, they will have some of the elite trucks there!
