Profile Information:

Hometown:
Fortuna, California
About Me:
I'm a hard working single mom of one Pembroke, Timmy. : ) Obviously I have quite a sense of humor, (being a corgi lover).

I'm retired from public service, and work part time at what ever other jobs I can find to support, "The True Prince of Wales".

I own a small home located in a small rural community on the far northern California coast; far from the maddening crowds and 4-5 hours from civilization. Surrounded by very tall trees, redwoods, I love being in the outdoors and "roughing" it.

I'm much wiser than Timmy thinks I am.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
What can I say? Words escape and run in figure eights around the various items of furniture in the living room. Timmy is the "True Prince of Wales". He's very concerned with his looks, since he's very oversized (structured more like a cardigan). Very physically fit!! works out daily, in home, on the road or track, at the park chasing balls and once a week by a pet walker. Timmy doesn't walk, he struts, honest. When he meets another dog, he puffs up and makes sure the dog knows he's buff. It cracks me up!!! Timmy says to check out his dogster page at www.dogster.com/dogs/317521. He's also a junior reporter for our small local paper, Humboldt Beacon, writing stories on dog care, pet issues and news. So he's probably busier than I am!!!

Timmy got his CGC in 2005, he also got his certification from Delta Society as a therapy dog qualified in complex areas. He's started in agility and this year we are going to try rally obedience by attending some local classes.
I have:
Pembroke

Slyvia & Timmy, I have not heard from you in awhile. How is it goin this spring? Rascal had to go to the Vet kennel a couple times. Hubby & I went to my daughter's for 2 days, then a week later I drove back to her house for our annual "Mom-daughter spring fling". Mother's Day weekend we flew to Colorado for my nephew's college graduation. He survived all the kennel visits.

Nice weather is finally here, so Rascal & I have been playing fetch with this tennis ball every noon.

He watched me pot annual flowers last weekend too.

My office is relocating by the end of the month, so busy there also.

Hope you are enjoying spring & life in Fortuna, CA.

hi sylvia! hi timmster! =P well word around here is that sylvia has tried dog food. =P i havent yet, but i thought i could ask for your opinion.

Bailey's currently eating Nature's Recipe Lamb & Rice formula. It's a pretty good food (no fillers, corn, wheat, beef, etc), but he doesn't love it, so I am thinking about switching after the rest of the bag runs out. Soo.. I went to my local Pet Club today (its like a Costco/Sam's Club but for pets) and the only foods that struct me to be of higher quality (they didn't have Evo or Canidae - which i wanted) - but they have Avoderm and Natural Balance. I was going to go for the natural balance - either the regular or the duck/potato...... would you (and timmy) recommend this brand?!? how does it taste?! =P
  • Karen & Bailey

update update! went to the pet food store today.. and i found WELLNESS!! =D i was so happy. I think Bailey wil be too. I bought a bag of Wellness Puppy, and once our current bag runs low, hell be getting Wellness! =)
  • Karen & Bailey

ol thanks! =D yea i hope Bailey loves wellness, ill definetly let you know! =D hahaha. i dont know about the fishy one because.. i gave him these sweet potato/fish treats (off the Natural Balance line) yesterday and boy did his poo come out stinky that night!!!!!! XT. hahaha. After puppy, i might just go for the "Green" bag - Wellness Chicken - ooohhh and green!!! thats so complimentary to our redheads! hah. =D

    thanks again for the advice!

bailey and i will make a squeaker video just for uncle timmy to watch. you and your furman will see so many squeakers uncle timmy wont know what to do with himself! LOL! =D look for it within the upcoming days! ;-)
  • Karen & Bailey

  • Juel

I did It! I convinced my roommate that there is room for a corgi! All I had to do was swap my sweat equity and materials for a new back yard fence! I am going to aim for a late winter early spring bundle of JOY!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!
  • Karen & Bailey

Yea it’s a really really really pretty place. Lovely for leashed dog walks. Bailey goes nuts because he sees so much grass to romp and play on - hahah. You gotta let me know if you're ever in the area again. =)

I gotta take video of Bailey off-leash this weekend at the beach or fort funston. =P Ohhh, and we're going to our first corgi meetup on Saturday! =)
  • Karen & Bailey

i will definitely let you know when i am up in that area! same here! gas prices are nearing 4.50/gal, i probably wont be up to going. =P

  • Edward Ames

Her name is corkie we had her for 7 years. when my wife passed from pancras cancer I let my daughter talk me into giving corkie to the hospis nurse. Now I dont see my daughter or corkie. My son lives in port st lucie fl. dont see much of him. It is so lonesom being alone. I know another corgi would do the trick.
T Thanks for your help and consern Ed Ames
  • Sylvia & Timmy

    Ed,
I can't imagine the loss you feel and of course, as a corgi lover, I think that another furry bunny butt would certainly be a "pick me up" to get you out and about again. Nothing like a corgi for reminding you to get out and go for a walk around the neighborhood or a rousing good game of fetch.

Timmy and I will contact you again later by MyCorgi mail, we have to go run some errands in town, but will be back in a couple of hours. Talk to you later. (TTYL)

    Sylvia and Timmy

    Ed
  • Epinephrine "Epi" and Carly too!

Thank you for being concerned! We were not able to go home for many hours. The roads were closed to our house. The dogs were at home too! We were extremely worried about the dogs, but I made it home eventually. The fire never made it to us.
  • Furpants McGee

yes, steve is my breeder at aldergate and we (my new husband) and I are buying his runt from the rosybullet litter - petunia. we are driving up there on the 4th, staying in san fran, then up to aldergate and actually staying in fortuna at the super8 on the 5th with our new pup, then driving back home to orange county on sunday. we couldn't be happier!!!
  • Furpants McGee

thanks 4 the heads up! I hope it is cool up there - we have had a nice heat wave for the past week AND while we were in san fran for our honeymoon, we were in that heat wave!! we just planted some new grass in our yard and fortunately it has survived so when petunia arrives she will have a nice green, shaded area to play in. I am absolutely thrilled to have met such a caring, warm person that is by chance the breeder of our new friend :) and also so many caring people on this site that share my same passion for corgis :)
  • Rowdy & Matt

His name is Rowdy. I'm a first-time owner. He's a big ball of energy, but he's catching on :)
  • Juel

Jerry built me a new flower box of landscaping stone. I planted flowers & took pictures to share. Here is a picture of the flower box with Rascal plus I added it to his page @ other sites.

  • Furpants McGee

oh please do!! we had to push back our arrival date 2 weeks due to my husbands recent kidney ailments (he donated one to his sister 2 years ago) so we are a bit sad to have to wait...but, health comes first. take some pictures please!!! I hate to bother steve so much. :)
  • Furpants McGee

You are awesome thanks. :) He's ok, just having some pain where the clamp is located on the main artery. He will have some work done on Thursday just to make sure all is functioning well.
I will approve the friend request tomorrow morning when I get to a computer...my internet on my phone doesn't allow me to access that function for some reason.
If you can't share the photos then, I will give you my personal email. :) Thanks so much we can't wait to see how much Petunia has grown!!!
  • Juel

you get to go see steve on wednesday, YEAH!
  • sandra

yeah, the corgi looks like what they used to tell me as................old style! when i was looking for a corgi....i asked,---"oh, is that okay??????"

yes, the cards were on corgi aid....and i sorta wanted them, but hmm, one card on one set, other card on another and i could not chose or want to pay more than 25 per set, so i ck ebay..................oh my, i found both cards, one set, and he wanted, hmm, 3.75 for both cards and made them on sale, for $2.25 and had 4 sets..............then i ck his other cards, oorgis only...and he had the colored ones, all for like, hmm, 7 dollars.....so i wrote back and forth and ended up paying only 16.88, he took ship off (from canada) and i just got them today.....my first ebay purchase!....cool, huh?

you know when i first saw them on corgiaid, i thought, hmmm, corgi, corgi???? the pups look soo different, so mature and diff snout or something.....??? but i just had to have them!

ck ebay, corgi cigarette cards...i got a real good deal but this guy gets cards lots...and i saw one site have them for 5 a card but sometimes sold out!...hey, it was fun to get them!

soo now you know why timmy corgi looks the way he does, huh?
    smiles : )

hope you get your corgi aid stuff soon, they had so much to send out...i put in bids on the cute felt corgi but it went soooo high, and then the corgi tile that corgi is .....waiting for his master, but it went to 25 and i was like 19....next yr...i herd, i mean heard the news from club corgi!!!!!!!!!!
  • Juel

That does sound fun! yeah there isn't anything cuter!
  • Justin Nelson

Thanks for the welcome! I started preperations for the puppy today. Mostly research on training and what I need to purchase. I like to wait until I meet a puppy before naming him so the name fits the pup :) The Breeder was saying he ca come home after 8 weeks but we are leaning more towards nine at the moment. I'll post some pictures of him that the breeder sent me soon. She is being kind enough to send me a new picture each week so I can keep up with his growth.
  • Furpants McGee

oh my goodness!!! you are wonderful!! thank you so much!!
  • Justin Nelson

It's really awsome that you and Timmy go and visit the nursing homes. I bet it means alot to those who get to spend time with you both.
  • Juel

Good morning! I was just on Steve's website and there are pictures of your visit, I only recognized you by the side of your head! It sounds like I will have sunday and monday, I think i am going to see if steve or that other breeder in arcata would be available for a visit. I need a little puppy therapy
  • Furpants McGee

    HAPPY MONDAY!!!
  • Furpants McGee

actually dunno what happened - was july 4th and I looked at my finger and it was horribly swollen (maybe the couple of beers I had earlier came into play as to how I didn't feel myself initially get hurt) but I'm more upset about having my wedding ring cut off!!! *sigh* better that than my finger I suppose. I think the timing turned out well though, with pushing back getting the pup...it was SOOO loud and rowdy in my sister-in-laws neighborhood, I'm sure Petunia would have been very scared. at least next 4th, she will be bigger and hopefully won't get too jostled. :)
  • Furpants McGee

well, good news and bad...my husband isn't super sick, but we've been told it wouldn't be recommended for us to take such an extended road trip to get the pup - his other kidney has grown to compensate for the loss, which is normal, but the clamp may have to be adjusted since it's poking his only kidney. his internal organs are quite large (he's 6'2") so this can happen sometimes, but taking an 11 hour road trip and risking him being in pain, then far away, isn't a good idea. so, it looks like i will fly up to get petunia, but i checked with some airlines, and it won't cost too much $...in fact, we will save $ on hotels, gas, food, etc. if i just make it a one day fly up and back deal, AND i can get up there the day i promised steve i would be there, anyways.
now, what would your opinion be about the crate for the flight? i have 2 - a large one that i bought for her to be trained in, and one for my cats...the one for my cats is 11"x17"x24" - which is allowed in the cabin with me on the flight. do you think she would fit in something so small?? or, should i bring the larger one, and put her in the animal cargo? i'd rather have her with me in the cabin, but if she will be crammed, i won't put her through that. i imagine her being as big as my biggest cat, and he fits ok in it...AACK!!!
  • Furpants McGee

they are going to evaluate whether or not a new smaller clamp should be placed...considering the sharp agonizing pain it causes him, I would say they should do it, but thays medical for you....if its not going to kill him, they probably won't allow it.
actually, luck would have it that alaska air goes from lax to eureka/arcata directly!! and they allow pets in the cabin for $100 fee, and the carrier for my cats fits their size guideline too. AND the flight is only about an hour, so I imagine it wouldn't be TOO traumatizing...all reasons why I've decided its ok to fly with her (before, I didn't think it wise to, due to her age) but, we will make it happen. I will have a plushy toy for her and water as well so we should be good to go :) I'm sad my husband can't go, but he has been wanting some 'guys time' so I said he can do that the day I'm gone :)
thanks for the spay info...man, its like steve said...our breed is so rare, its all pretty much by word of mouth that we learn what is best for their health.
  • Sue Olson

What is rally training? New to me.
  • Christopher Zincone & Monty!

    Hi Folks!

Thanks for commenting on our Space-Walk vid. I can see from your pics that Monty! and Timmy just adore their Chuck-It Squirrels! Cute Pics!
  • Sue Olson

Thanks for the info. I've not heard of rally obedience. Question? How does one get a photo in the box? I sent one to the e-mail but not sure how to do it.

    Thanks
  • Juel

Hello! whew it got busy yesterday! I made an apointment with steve to see the puppies on monday afternoon. YEAH! I have a question: what kind of food do you feed Timmy, and would you recommend it for Rusty?
  • Juel

Thanks for the info! i fully intend to take pictures, but I have no way to upload them to the internet. I can't do it at work :( Which vet in arcata, or where are they located? I'll have to go check it out! Hope you and Timmy are surviving the smoke! At this point I think I have monday and tuesday off would you be avaiable to get together? I know it is short notice but thought I would try. Take care! Juel
  • Juel

That sounds wonderful! I should know no later than tomorrow morning, (Hopefully) what my day off schedule will be. But I got on the wrong side of my boss last night. ( I stood up to him, when he was being rude demeaning , LONG STORY!) I might be scrubbing toilets HAHA
  • Juel

Sounds good! I actually get to go home for the night. YEAH!
  • Sue Olson

Thanks for trying to help me but nothing happens when I click the photo so will wait to see.
  • Juel

GOOD MORNING! I confirmed that I will have tomorrow and tuesday off. I have plans to sleep in tomorrow, and visiting Steve at 200. That is all i have planned tomorrow, and I have nothing planed on tuesday. Just let me know when and where you want to get together.
Now that I am reading your post from yesterday with fresh Eyes I realized that you told me where you are going to by your next food. Where do you buy your current food or the others you mentioned? HAve fun at petsmart! talk to you later. Juel
  • Juel
