Profile Information:

Hometown:
Washington, DC
About Me:
Curtis and I fell in love with corgis last year and finally got our first corgi puppy in July 2007! We moved to Washington, DC to go to grad school and are sticking around now that we've graduated. I work for the International Spy Museum and Curtis is the Curator of a private museum in Chinatown. Everyday we hurry home from work to get back to our little pup!
About My Corgi(s):
Triley (full name is Trilobitus Megolas - a fake latin species name we made-up once we decided to name him after Trilobites) is a year old male Welsh corgi.

We got him from a great breeder in PA and he's just the sweetest thing! His favorite activity is to lay in our laps and get good scratches. He also loves treats and barks with excitement when he gets to go "out" - he listens for that word all the time! Triley's favorite toys are ones that squeek - he is certian they are alive and he must growl at them so they know who is boss! He is quite the "talker" and gets annoyed when we don't understand what he is saying. His newest obsession is digging! He just can't stop! ;-)

I think there is a DC Corgi group on this site. I'm in DC several times a year...sadly the Corgis stay home. Such a cutie.
  • Kristen

If I had looked closer I would have seen you already found them! BTW Welcome to the site. I think Triley is adorable. When was Triley born? We have a female we picked up late July. She was borne June 9.

If you all ever have a Corgi meet up in DC when I'm in town I would love to stop by for a Corgi fix!

So much fun with more than one in the house, but don't get me talking about the Corgi hair in every corner. We have three Corgis. Lizzie-5 years, Fergie-9 months and Brodie-10 weeks. It is such a fascinating breed.

There is a member name Avyon that is "temporarily" back in DC working that has a Corgi. You can see her in my friends group. This is a fun site and I have learned so much. Also, it is nice to know I'm not the only person with a Corgi obsession! lol

    Hi,
That's an unusual name but nice. More commonly used is Riley. Lovely Corgi but ALL Corgis are lovely, arn't they? I love them since I was a child and was given one by my Dad on my 9th. birthday.

Hi Nancy, I am from DC also and am looking for a breeder. Would you be ok w/ giving me the contact info of your breeder? It seems like you had a really positive experience. I am looking for breeders in VA and PA (driving distance to do a visit). Thank you!

    PS Triley is adorable!

Hi Nancy, I love your pictures. How old is Triley? I saw your comment under the blog urgh driving me nuts...you were wondering how you can train them to not be destructive when you are not home. I would wait until he is 2 or 3 before giving him access to the house when you are not home and then maybe not even access to the whole house gate off areas if you can. You have to do it slowly also, first time you leave them only for a very short time and then gradually build up the time. The first time I would try 10 minutes....leave a special treat in a kong (or some kind of special toy Triley loves--use it only when you leave) and when you come back if everything is intact....give lots of praise and treats at first, you can gradually cut back on the treats. I didnt think we would ever be able to leave our corgi out of his crate when we left except I accidentally forgot to close the kennel door one day when I left for work! Luckily I was only gone for 3 hours and when I came home everything was ok, yeah! Lance was 2 at the time.
Gating/crating so they cant get destructive while they are young, I feel helps for the day that they are left alone. I hope this helps you, let me know what you think? Natalie

Rhys enjoyed listening to Triley's video. :)
  • Cindy & Jeremy & Caden too!

Hey Guys, Caden got his rabies shot a few days ago, so we were thinking of taking him to a dog park, possibly today... Have you been to the one at Glover Park, 39th Pl & W? I know it's very short notice, but let me know if you are interested. We were thinking late afternoon, 3ish. If not, let's plan on something in the coming weeks. ~Cindy
