Just got our first Corgi after 4 goldens. What a difference
Kizzy is full of "puppy running". If we yell at her for NO BITING, she power runs and barks back at us.
Is this normal?
About My Corgi(s):
4 months and learning. Beautiful makings on this girl. Need help training not to bite and bark.
Jim, welcome. Your little puppy looks so much like our little guy Brodie. Bodie is a lanky adolescent 10 months of pure energy. Nothing like a Golden. Love both breeds, but am addicted to Corgis. We have four...and holding.
Welcome. I just saw your site and had to tell you how cute your pup is!
I had the most beautiful black kitty named Kizzie! Her name was from the Roots
character! Take care.
They truly are a fun breed. I've always said it is like living with a cartoon character! I have found that the more exercise they get the better their behavior is. Sometimes I think Brodie is just so happy he doesn't know what to do with himself. Just a bundle of kisses and wiggles. I think it is wonderful that Kizzy gets to be at work with you. Fergie gets to come to the office on Friday because she has a vet appointment in the afternoon--just shots. Fern has to go to the vet in the am for x-rays. She is a pupply mill rescue (breeding dog for three years, poor girl) and she has an incontinence issue that looks like it will require surgery to correct. We've tried a number of therapies, but nothing has worked so looking to this. Fern is a wonderful little girl and it would be nice to have her on your lap without having a puddle left behind. She is fully potty trained just can't help the leakage.
The fence is a good idea, especially since a Corgis favorite game is "catch me". They do love to be chased and to chase. Take care!
Corgis are very smart dogs generally. They are fast learners so go to puppy class and she should learn the no biting pretty fast.
Our two have very different energy levels. Chapin is our Juvenile Delinquent. She litterally bursts out of her kennel like a horse at the race tracks and her whole body wiggles with energy. I am guessing it may take another year or so before she settles a bit, or maybe she will always be our ADHD child. She is still prone to play biting when over excited. We usually have to calm her down and remind her we are not Cagney and she doesn't get to play with us that way. It does help a lot to have two dogs, they can run their energy out together. Although, Cagney is much more mellow. :-)
