I am 26, I married my high school sweetheart and we have been married for 7 years. I have 3 wonderful kids, ages 1, 3 and 5 years old. We got our Corgi "Scarlet" in march. This is our first puppy, and man oh man I didn't know what I got myself into. lol
About My Corgi(s):
We are Huge Ohio State Buckeye fans so we named our puppy Scarlet. We have had her since march. She is a complete and utter control freak, she loves to bark at everything and chews on everything. I am hoping some of that will stop soon...please...let some of it stop! Otherwise she is very very smart, she is very protective of the whole family, and she is a good dog.
Scarlet is beautiful!! Our daughter and her husband own the puppy in our pictures.. he is yogi. and is the "nephew" of Gizmo - my tri colored boy. They live in Sanford - but his parents and himself are total Ohio State fans!! It is interesting because our daughter graduated from University of Florida and is a total Gator. LOL
Oh.. bye the way.. yogi is a very active puppy.. I don't remember Gizmo being that "verbal" and active.. but he was I am told.. Gizmo is 2 1/2 and is so mellow now.. it is a drastic difference between him and the puppy.. but he too will mature and grow into the wonderful dog that Scarlet will too.. LOL. The picture of her and your child sleeping is just precious. All kids are heavenly looking when they are sleeping.. that goes for corgi puppies too!!
Hi Jessica! Scarlett is one cute pup! Would love to see more photos and learn more about her being a control freak. Our Mia is very "bossy", too, but she thinks it's her job!
So sorry to hear about your daughter. I can't imagine having to get rid of KC. We were lucky when my oldest was younger because he outgrew allergies he had. Our doctor told us that having them around helped them to get over it. But he obviously wasn't as bad as your daughter. Good Luck on finding Scarlett a new forever home.
HI Jessica, I just wrote you a long post...but see the conversation is closed. I expect you are overwhelmed by all the varied responses you got. I am with you....with a child you can't risk it...you need to put her safety first. We may be going through the same thing with my husband's health...it is heartbraking to think of. I wouldn't use your daughter as a guinea pig to see if she develops immunity. It is pretty scary to see someone in a full blown asthma attack and can be life threatening.
We have tried everything to reduce hair and it is impossible to make it safe for someone with an allergy.
Take care....if you need help with changes you need to make to your house...to make it safer to your daughter, let me know if I can be of any help. Joy and Butter
I don't remember any names but I know that I have recently seen people on here looking for a fur baby, hopefully one of them will see your discussion and maybe be able to give Scarlett a good home. I know one lady was in Maine I don't know about down in your area but at least you would be able to keep tabs on her and know how she is doing.
Hi! Glad to hear that Celeste will take back Scarlet. It seems like quite a few people have gotten corgis from Celeste and seems like they all have wonderful things to say about her. Knowing Scarlet will be with the breeder and in good hands must take so much off your shoulders, nice to be able to feel good about where she will be. Sorry to hear it didnt work out, but it is definately the right decision, cannot take chances with your childs life. I feel that everything happens for a reason. Your photo of your daughter and pup sleeping is just so precious. I have two daughters and they are the most precious when they are sleeping, lol.
If you have to give up your Corgi, we are looking for another to join Camber. I hope you are able to keep, but just in case... Please consider us as an option.
Hi Jessica, I saw your post in the forum, but the discussion was closed before I could respond. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry Scarlet didn't work out for you and your family. The health of your kids is of course more important! I think some people just saw "getting rid of" and made assumptions. I didn't read it that way. You must be having such a hard time. I don't know how I could give up my Theo, but obviously it's not really a choice, but a necessity. I'm glad her breeder is going to take her back. I hope she finds her a good and loving home.
Wow, you're my age and already with 3 kids! I am in awe. :)
Thanks. The Bernese is my neighbors' parents' dog. He was just visiting and Camber gets along with him. I bet her puppies will be cute. If they want to "retire" her, we would still consider her. Camber had two litters before we got her.
