About Me:
I work as a lobbyist-not a bad thing! LIve the rural life with Corgis, rescue dogs, horses, chickens, cats. Two beautiful grown daughters. If I had my choice I would quit my job, stay at the farm and raise corgis and horses!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
We are honored by the presence of Lizzie (Q Lizzie Beth) and Fergie(FCF's Royal Ferguson) and Brodie (FCF's Little Bonanza Brodie). Recent additions to the family are Fern (puppy mill rescue and princess), Poppit (blind rescue), and accidental addition Sherman--my failure as a foster mom! Lizzie is our 7 year old Black-headed tri-color Corgi. True to the breed. It is like living with a cartoon charactor. Fergie is our three-year-old Red/White female and a real snuggle bug. Brodie is a black headed tri who is 1.5-years old. Fern is a 4-year-old red/white Corgi that was rescued from a puppy mill in January 2008 and was in Foster Care for six months! She has some special needs, but has adapted beautifully! She is quite the charmer. We celebrated her one year anniversary with us in May 09. Poppit has been with us for just a couple of months. She is a red-headed tri and she is completely blind-juvinile cataracts and small eyes--the result of poor breeding. We are working on her social skills and she is coming along. Sherman (formerly known as Denver) is a 15 month old red and white bundle of love and energy.
I have:

Hi there, tomorrow is my first time in the show ring and the last 24 hours have been very busy. My Muffin had her puppies today. 3 boys and 5 girls. But last night I found out that Buttercup is almost in season. I found out while playing with all of the corgis out side when without warning Snowy and Ted E went after each other. Everyone seems good today but Snowy will be in the show with some marks on the ears.
Well I'll go and finish my dachshund choirs so I can start getting Snowy ready for tomorrow. Hope to see you there tomorrow or in Lincoln next month.
we will be in ring 3 and our number is 5
  • Shannon

Loved getting a chance to see you today at the show. Snowy did good on the table but the judge said I went to fast on the floor and should just walk normally with the corgis, and he had trouble standing still on the floor so we got winners reserve. No points but I know what to work on and at least got one show under my belt. I'll do better in Lincoln.
  • Shannon

The Lincoln show is the 15th and I'll let you know the time and ring. I should get that about 5 days before the show. Wish I could bring Buttercup. She is about done with her shedding cycle and looking good again. I'll have to try to get some new pics of her. Would would just fall in love with her if you get to meet her.
Muffins puppies are doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they get docked today, I hate this part. Still hoping sometime AKC will let them have tail if they have them.
Can't wait to see you again
  • Shannon

if you take highway 92 out of Council Bluffs you will run into Griswold in about 36 miles. Then you can go north east and cut through Atantic and hit the interstate just north of there
  • Rebecca and Paul

Hi Kristen thanks for the welcome! I love his floppy ears too. Your pics are beautiful; makes me wish I lived up north where we could run around in the snow!
  • Maria Jimenez

Love your kids too! One of them looks like our Toby!
  • Jenni & Dave Fields

I am part of that same 12 step program for Longaberger!!! LOL. I was a consultant for many years and my sister's best customer when I didn't sell them!
  • Temple

Thanks! I'm pretty partial to her... :) Your "herd" is so cute! It was hard for me to stop at just one Corgi after Lola took over my home and heart, but the new terrier pup is more than a handful so looks like 2 dogs is our limit (for now)
  • Keahi and Kai

lizzie looks like a perfect candidate for our new group Masked Corgis!! help us start the masked revolution!
  • Sir Riley of Pembroke

I know what you mean, Riley was like that too. He was my little lamb, everywhere I went he wanted to go too! Especially car rides! And then like a blink of the eye they are gone and it is a wierd feeling. The kitties are making me laugh and cuddling too so I am doing ok. Thanks
  • Benson Kuanji-Yau

Thank You everyone for the warm welcome! You are all so friendly, and you have the most beautiful children too! (even though my Lab is a bit jealous...nevermind..he isn't anymore..he just found a ball) Wish you all well!
  • LaVerne & Shirley

I am overwhelmed by the welcome Ive gotten on this site. I see that Corgi owners are just as remarkable as the Corgis themselves! Your Corgis are so so beautiful. I want one of each! Thank you for sharing!
  • penny spencer

Kristen, hope all is well with Fern today. Will she have to stay at the hospital for long? Yes, it must be very hectic, and pray things will work out for you all.
Bazel and Penny just tolerate each other, no love lost. The sibling/food rivalry is very strong but it's amazing how they both accept Roscoe. Think animals know when one is not equal. Thought Penny was terrible beggar and follower,
Bazel is 10 times worse! Take care.
  • penny spencer

Glad Fern is on the way to recovery. What a great idea to leave item of clothing with them in unfamiliar situations! Roscoe is no longer afraid of Bazel, but Bazel doesn't play either. None of my dogs like toys! Weird. I actually threw a stick in the yard the other night and he went after it and brought it back! Maybe he feels comfortable here now, home. But balls, or tuggies, no. Roscoe will sometimes play with tuggie with me first thing in the morning when he's full of vinegar! Sometimes Penny will butt her head with me and "wrestle' but that's it. Group of couch potatoes ha! Oh, it snowed here earlier. Take care.
  • Geri & Sidney

Good luck! We got ours at either Petco or Petsmart. Her's what it looks like:

  • Jenn + Karma = Love

Hi! Your animals are lovely! Our dream is to be on a farm too, with corgis, chickens, goats and horses. We are pet artists and one day we hope to do well enough to just make art, raise animals and have a huge veggie garden! any tips? :)
  • Jenn + Karma = Love

  • Vikki

Thank you for your warm welcome. Your corgis are super cute and beautiful. Love all your pictures, especially the corgi pups.
  • Laura Jones

I was just wondering how Fern was recovering from her surgery. I hope she is getting better.
  • Tony

Thank you very much, I do hope my puupy turns out as beautiful as yours! Truly are amazing friends
  • penny spencer

Kristen, so glad for little Fern-girl. I know I can be out of sorts when I hurt or don't feel well, why shouldn't animals, right? How is little Brodie? Audrey-Anne helped me with pics, I had some other really cool ones that got "lost" when our computer crashed, really disappointed. Yeah, Roscoe is small (20#) and still has the sweet "puppy, baby face". Sometimes I feel badly that I still treat him like a baby, it's just that he'll never mature. Take care.
  • Carrie & Chad

Thanks so much for your concern any healing thoughts are appreciated she is starting to perk up so I am feeling pretty good she is a tough little dog so I think she will be fine. :)
  • Ana L. Toledo

Thank you! I love to smile and walk around all the time smiling at everyone. It works when they say that even the most harsh of expression will loosen up when encountered with a smile. Since I live in a city within a city (Old San Juan), pedestrians love to see me smile. I particularly like to herd pigeons in our main plaza. Tourists take pictures of me because they think it's cute for a Corgi to herd birds!
    Bye!

  • Mary & Kaycee

My husband and I are so in love with Kaycee. She is like our little baby. It’s going to be extremely hard to part with her in the future. We're counting the days…
  • Jerrypoperry

Thank you!!! Your Photos are so cute. Are you a breeder?? Because you have so much Photos from puppies...
  • Darleen

Aspen did take to the wheel chair quickly. I had a couple of bones in my hand and away she went. She seems to like it very much. When I do not use it, I just put the hoist on her and she seems to enjoy that as well. Thanks for the comment.

  • Jerrypoperry

thank you. My husband want`s to breed, too, that´s why he surched very long to find Jerry. But first I need a little bit more time for the dogs, so it will take some years. I like your Photos, too. In the beginning I thought, just Jerry is a crazy dog, but when i see all this funny Corgie pics... they are really great dogs.
  • Wendt Worth Corgi's

O'my gosh..I'm sorry Kristen..I forgot to get you some links on reading material. I get so involved w/so many things that I forget some things I promised. I swear I was not ignoring you. Fall is my favorite time too but it seems we don't get much of a fall anymore. It gets nasty and almost slips right into winter.

She is gorgeous. I will try to get some new pictures. Shes put on 4lbs since shes been here and she is looking really good. Shes really connected w/me and I think I got my Meagan Jr. which is exactly what I wanted. I love my Meagan and her personality is to die for. Thank you for the compliments. I will get those links for you tomorrow and if I forget again you can choose my punishment. LOL
  • Shannon

Hi Kristen, Snowy did get a point at the Sat. show in Lincoln

Here are few links for you....you should ideally look into articles on the care of pups as well..noticing and knowing what to do for a fading puppy and so on. Hope this helps.
  • Wendt Worth Corgi's

You should be worried, I've gone through it how many times and still til this day I get to be a nervous nanny when the time is near. I love my dogs dearly and don't want anything to happen to them. I don't play big dog...If I start to question what is happening I am on the phone w/the vet and fortunately my vet trusts that now. They themselves have learned if I'm alarmed they better be too. I don't know it all..there is more to learn every day. Just be willing to admit that you don't know it all. Be prepared and highlight areas of concern and refer back to it during the whelping. I read my material over and over and while I awaited for that first pup comforting mom, I reread so it was fresh. You can never be over prepared. Good luck. Just google away and read it all. What one article might mention another might not. When do you expect to start and to possibly have your first litter?
  • Furby,Baylee&Nellie

Kristen, Thank you so much for your prayers. I all so have horse's and I met Nancy in the mid 90's. We had gotten baylee from the owner of local feed store owner and friend Betty Case. Betty had Baylee's mom and Nancy had her dad. Nancy had the boys and Betty had the girls.I bred baylee to nancy' s male Little Guy. Long story short Baylee had 3 pups and lost 1. My breeding experience did not go well . The pups were not coming out and Baylee and Nancy and I spent 11hours at my vets almost losing Baylee.Nancy was my rock and we have been best friends ever since. I never bred Baylee again. Nancy lost her last corgi in 2004 and now has two chihuahuas. So seeing she was missing a corgi's love I wanted to get a new baby for her. Betty had some pups at the feed store that came from Tampa and I saw Nellie, but my great friend saw how much I like that little cutie and beet me to the punch and bought Nellie for my 50th b-day but that is Nancy, always thinking of others first. She would love to see all the new corgi friends. Thank you again for all your kind words and sharing all your kids pictures, what cuties they are and your kindness to give Fern a great home.Corgi people are the greatest! I took today off to do somethings around the house and spend many hours with Nancy and turned on the computer and saw the many messages from you guys sending Nancy prayers I was so blown away. Thank you again Jenny
  • Shannon

not too many, just 3 males and one female were at the show. His next show will be in Jan in Des Moines then looking at St. Joe 2 weeks later.

  • Robbie

Thanks so much Kristen! I'm in my 2nd year, so I'll be done in another year and half. I can't wait, haha.

    Who do you lobby for?
  • Furby,Baylee&Nellie

Hi Kristen, Its been very sad. We lost Nancy Nov 29th. I miss her very much .
Then if life had not thrown us anough, my oldest corgi, Baylee's daughter and Furby's sister, Kayla had to be put to sleep yesterday. Thanks so much for your thoughts Its been hard I've have been huging all my kids alittle harder. Jenny
  • Todd & Hannah

Hi Kristin! Rotor did AMAZING in the wedding! I was so impressed. My brother walked him down the isle and stood with him. he had treats in his pocket the whole time to keep him happy. He started whining towards the end but i think it was just because he wanted to come see Todd and I. When we kissed and everyone was cheering, Rotor started barking and it was PERFECT! :) Your corgis are so cute!!
  • penny spencer

Kristen. How did your "kids" fare with the "babysitter" while you were away?
It is stressful to leave them. Just getting ready for Christmas. Yesterday Penny got away from me and fell in the neighbors' lake trying to get water. Her elderly mother saw what she thought was a deer in the pond. Penny couldn't get out and had been in there 15 min. or so. By the time Sandy called me and I drove over there, we had to go in and pull her out. I never saw anything like that in my life. She couldn't move. Thought we would kill her just pulling her out but had no choice. Dragged her a good distance to my truck and then I had to lift her in and then out again at home. It took 3 hours to dry, warm her up before she stopped shivering. Her breathing was very shallow and labored. Did not think she'd make it but she pulled thru. Gave her a warm bath last night because she smelled terrible. Aaron and his fiance were in an accident on our dirt road this morning on his way to work. They are OK but banged up a little and her car is totalled. I LOVE this stress! Take care and Happy Holidays! Penny
  • Laura Jones

I have a hard time keeping track of everyone on here (there are so many neat people to talk too) I was wondering how Fern was doing? Was the surgery a success? Happy Holidays to you and all of your family.

Pippin & I thank you for the warm welcome! We love your babies!! They are SOOO adorable! I love Corgis to pieces. I would have 20 if I could. What characters...unlike any other dog breed I've ever had. Puppy New Year!

  • Mike

The snow photos were from last December from Indiana. Yes Dylan is a very happy boy!
  • nancy and daisy

Thanks Kristen. Grad school is coming fast at me. I start Jan 28th. I would rather stay home, live on a puppy ranch and raise corgis too. I love Daisy so much. She is such a smart girl.
Where are you a lobbyist? state or federal level ?
    Interesting!

  • Kathy and Jillie

Hi Kristen! Thanks for the nice comment! We do have things in common, our son just graduated from college and is moving to Fla. He will be playing arena football for the Florida Fire Cats, he has been playing since he was 6 yrs old! And our daughter is a sophmore at the University of South Carolina, she is 19.
We love our pet family: a lab mix, Jack and our corgi, Jillie. We also adopted three stray cats: Chi-Chi, Bella, and Marlie. Our bunny died two mths ago, she was 7 or 8 yrs old. Our whole family are animal lovers!
Your corgis are precious.....which one is Fern?
I agree with you that I would rather stay home with my furry babies! I am a kindergarten teacher...which I do love! Your job sounds interesting...is this on the federal level?

  • Nancy C. Lord

Thanks, Kristen. My niece named her after the dog in JAWS that disappears on the beach...go figure! Take CAre, Nancy
  • Kathy and Jillie

Hi Kristen! Thanks for sending me the comment and the pic of Fern. Jillie and Fern are very similiar in their looks and size. It seems that your furry babies are a big part of your family, just like us as well. I would not have it any other way, I just love it!
Our son will be moving to Fort Meyers area, so it is south of Tampa. Todd trained at a NFL training camp in Tampa....he loved that city! Where does your daughter go to school? We are so excited for him and will definitely plan some trips to visit and see some games!
Wishing you a Happy New Year! Kathy
  • Hannah

    Hi Kristen,

I saw that you have multiple Corgis and I was wondering if you got them both at the same time? Or if you got them with time separating them. We got our Corgi for my birthday almost a year and a half ago, and I am so thrilled with him! We have an offer from a woman who can no longer keep her corgi, to get her dog, but I wanted to know if having two dogs took away any of your attention from the first one? If you could get back to me, that would be great! P.s- Your dogs are really really cute!
