We have three kids and one awesome tri-color Corgi. His name is Cubbie, and he is one year old. He is the BEST dog ever! He loves to play fetch with a tennis ball, and go hiking with his family.
Hi again! Cooper was Bailey's dad's name, so I thought I'd include it in his AKC registered name. =P
I've heard the breed is super smart, and from the stories I've read here, I don't doubt it! =) Well, welcome to the site.. 10 days to go. so excited.. =D
That was clever with the name! And, yes they are brilliant little dogs, but be warned! They are chewy little fellows...have lost three pairs of good shoes thus far. Also, they shed like crazy. I recommend the swiffer vac (we have hardwood). But, totally worth any trouble they get into. He talks like Chubacka (from Starwars) and enjoys the chicken jerky from Costco. Can't wait for you to get your dog!
Cubby is a doll! Welcome to My Corgi! I like your advice below on chewing. We lost shoes and Longaberger Baskets to our first guy. I'm needing to move them up out of the way for the new puppy! I wish I could have invested in the swiffer products. Can't imagine live with out them!
Hi Cubbie! We think Benzo looks like you! Are you from the Bay area too? Benzo is looking for more friends around the area. Next week, we are meeting with Peanut, a tri-color corgi too.
Hi! Benzo is adorable (love his photos). He and Cubbie do look a lot alike. We're in San Leandro. Where do you guys like to take the dog? We go various parks in the area, but we love the San Leandro Ridge walk (near Lake Chabot). It's off leash and there's cows there (Cubbie seems facinated by them). Maybe they can have a play date sometime!
Lizzie has done amazingly well this past year and a half. She lost her best frined and mine Basil and she has had three new puppies come into the house. She is a bit of a curmudgeon at first. A little gumbly, but when they get a bit older she begins to appreciate them. Potter is a corgi wannabee and Lizzie and Potter will wrestle and play quite a bit. Potter came in about a year ago. Fergie is just 9 months and she and Lizzie get along great. Brodie is just 10 weeks and gets on Lizzies nerves, but she is warming up. She gets a little protective with treats and will steal toys, but Basil did that with her when we brought her home a well and they were the best of friends. She has her moments of pouty behavior, but then I take her for a solo walk or spend some other alone time together and she gets over it. I work full time so it is nice for the dogs to have each other during the day. I think they sleep most of the time, but there is comfort in the pack. We are hoping to raise Corgis in the future, but we will have to see how both Fergie and Brodie finish out. Lizzie is altered. I want to get the testing done and make sure they are "good enough" Personality wise they pass the test, but we want to make sure our confirmation, hips and eyes don't have any problems--so it will be a while before that would happen--if it does.
Hi there - welcome! Cubbie is just too cute for words - look at that face! I love how dark his markins stayed. My little girl lost most of the black on her face and became a red-headed tri, but I just love when their faces stay dark like that. He is very handsome! Welcome to the group! Tracie
Thank you, what a cool website. We're really enjoying looking at all the other Corgi's out there! Your dog is adorable - great pictures. I love her colors, she's so pretty. Such an interesting breed, the color combinations can vary quite a bit. But, you can never mistake that Corgi body! I Love the short legs ;-)
Yes definitely! We would love to meet Cubbie! Actually, this is Benzo's first time to meet Peanut. According to Sarah, we will be meeting next week (March 15, Saturday). Let us know if you guys can make it. Cubbie is such a cutie too!
Funny that we were talking about this. This morning Lizzie was just all out playing with both Fergie and Brodie and they were having the best time. I made what could be a regrettable decision and left Brodies kennel door open, but I didn't want to end their fun just because I had to go to work!. I'm heading back home shortly so I can go visit my dad in the hospital, hopefully there are no puppy messes.
oh yes!! the more and merrier.. especially when corgis are involved!! cubbbie looks just like my peanut! good lookin corgi! we are planning to meet up sat afternoon 3/15 over at dragan dog park in union city! come and join us!
Sure you can bring the kids too! I am sure they will all have fun especially when they see 2 other corgis. Sarah mentioned that the meeting place will be at a park over at Mission Blvd. by Union City. I hope it's not too far from you guys. I will have to ask Sarah about the time. Hope to you see you all. We can't wait to meet Cubbie and Peanut.
Thanks! We're looking forward to it, hopefully it will work out with our intense basketball schedule. But, the kids are so excited to see another Corgi, we've seen so few since owning Cubbie. See you all next week!
Hi Cubbie! Good to see another Bay Area corgi! We also live in the East Bay (Emeryville, actually), since we're so close to the city, we go to the SF corgi meet up. The next one is tomorrow! You can find more info on this link if you're interested: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/sfcorgi/. Hope to meet you guys some time soon!
Bryson failed miserably at the herding instinct test! You can have cubbie "tested" too. It happens around Oct every year, and it's sponsored by the GGPWCF. You can read more about Bryson's trial here. The video's pretty hilarious!
Hello! We are so happy that you live close by. We live in Hayward so I am sure will see each other often. We are so excited to meet you and Peanut. Hope to see you soon! take care!
Dear Cubbie and family,
I got this e-mail from the corgi northern California group and this is the information for next Saturday's meet up:
When: Saturday 3/15/08*
Time: afternoon, 2pm
Where: Drigon Dog Park, Union City, CA
* weather permitting (there's a chance of rain that day)
This is the website:

Hey Cubbie! My mom left a message a while ago. She said that she was showing off your cute picture to our family and she tells them that I will meet both you and Peanut. If the weather will not permit our meeting, I am sure we will be able to meet some other time. We will check out Bryson's video. My mom got confused a while ago. She thought you also had a video. See you soon and your family!
Thank you! I never noticed the "mask" before, but now I do! We just got back from doggie school, Cubbie's having a very hard time learning how to "lay down" (he's got sit down just fine). Any suggestions?
Hello Fellow Corgi's! Just wanted to say hi! Looking forward to some long walks and "getting my sniff on" at my local dog hangout. Have a terrific weekend! -Cubbie
Hi All, Just an update on Cubbie...He tore his Dew Claw (the weird "odd" claw on the back portion of his paw). We think he did it playing fetch on a hard, street surface. The vet had to numb the paw and remove the nail. He's on antibiotics now and is very sad and acting a little drunk from the med's. They said he should be feeling better by tomorrow. But, if he licks too much he might need to wear a cone thing around his head for a few days. Poor little dude -- it was a rough day! Hopefully he'll be back in action in time to meet his fellow Corgi's at the next play date!
Hi All - Thank you for your support! Cubbie is doing much better today, the drug's have finally wore off. He's not licking the wound too much, so perhaps we can avoid "the cone". I dare say we may be able to go for a nice walk this weekend!
We just gave Cubbie a bath in a plastic tub in our backyard so he looks clean for our Easter dinner. Talk about messy! He was okay at first, but scrambled out and almost ran into the garden! He looks hilarious when he's wet; he suddenly becomes seemingly small! Does anyone's corgi actually enjoy baths?
What a handsome tri boy! When I had a sable, I thought I'd never get a tri. Now that I have my tri, I (naturally) see more of them, and I just love them.
Cubbie has recently found a new favorite treat... pistachios! It's strange- we gave him one, and he loved it! Now whenever we have pistachios he follows us around begging for "just one more!"
hello! I was wondering if you guys are available on October 18 (Saturday) for a playdate at drigon park or the park near our house in hayward? We are celebrating Benzo's first birthday. We are planning to get him a dog cake from a Pleasanton dog bakery to share with his friends and prepare party goody bags for all of the dogs. Please bring your whole family. Hope to see you!
We have two Tri's and your dog is great looking! Is he fixed yet? We are looking to breed our two year old Dorothy. Let me know. Thanks and aren't corgis the best!
