We are in love with Welsh Corgis. We presently own 2. Edward is our baby and Gemima(Gem) is our watchful big sister. They are truly intelligent and loyal, they accompany us to the lake cabin and camping here in MN. They love boating and are all around our special companions. We can't imagine life without them.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Edward is a character. He is always coming up with goofy new quirks like chasing after bats at our lake or digging for moles in our yard(not so funny) Gem is our watchful big sister. She knows what to do when Edward misbehaves and is a good helper. She loves the lake and doing jobs around the house like helping to garden and watch Edward.
Hi Melissa!
For Therapy training, first Sidney had to pass the Canine Good Citizen test (I have a blog from around October 08 that explained how the test went). Then we took a 6-week course about how to handle meeting patients with various disabilities, etc, and there was another test at the end of that. The step we are on now is 10 hours of supervised visits...we wanted to wait until my daughter (SIdney's primary handler) graduated High SChool and we took our famiily vacation...so we'll start sometime in the next 2 weeks. After 10 hours he's fully certified!
Miko is always thirsty, and she always gets treats when she rides in the car. I can't remember one time she was in the car with me at a drive-through and didn't get something for free. At starbucks they will give her a coffee cup filled with whipped cream, at whataburger one time a lady gave her two whole chicken strips for free (which i had to share with her because they got my order wrong). At dairy queen she got her own sundae for free....oh how difficult life would be if we were all beautiful corgis...thank you for the welcome. Me and miko are both envious of the cool climate you and your corgis get to share.
a super great way to find stuff like herding clinics is to see if there is an agility club in your area... generally, they have information on herding instructors, flyball, dog camps, etc etc. If you hadn't already tried them....
Yay for Dahlhouse! Wyatt and Gemsa Ladyslipper are Chloe's parents. I'm so sorry to hear about your Phinny. :( That is always so hard to lose a beloved pet, especially before you expect it. But I am glad that you still have two wonderful (and adorable) doggies! :)
Oh, your corgi babies are beautiful. Arent . they just so much fun. No other dog in the world like them. I love to look at nice corgis. Will try to post pics soon. Jo Ann
You are close, their names are Welsh. Chepstow is a town on the Welsh border near Bristol, England. Tenby is a beautiful seaside village in Pembroke.
Chepstow came from a breeder in Jacksonville, FL and Tenby was a rescue from a horrible breeder in Georgia. We got Tenby at 6 months, he is now 3 1/2. He has severe shoulder problems from being in a cage for 6 months. But he is the sweetest most loving dog you could have. Chepstow is the stoic, suave big brother and Tenby is the crazy free-spirit.
Both your Corgi's are beautiful!!! So different looking. I love the smell of both my babies. Kinda a stinky but not bad stinky smell. I know that sounds crazy, but I guess it's like how some people love the smell of puppy breath. I don't like puppy breath, but I love the smell of thier skin and fur. Anyway, best of luck with the new little brother :)
Oops I forgot about the camera....I use zoom browser but also have some paint shop...I just go to editand when I hit it it say about 10 things you can do from correct red eye to add text...it's so much fun to add the captions! Good luck and let me know if it works!
Hello,
Thanks for the info on Dahl House Kennels. After seeing your cute photos of Edward and Gem I really think we need a friend for Gretzky. He really likes other dogs. It looks like Edward and Gem like the boat and beach. What lake do you go boating on? I thought of you as I drove through Rochester this past Sunday. I was taking my two Grandsons back to Mommy and Daddy in Mpls. I ended up eating at the India Curry House in Rochester on my way home.
I am so sorry that you lost Phineas. A corgi is such a wonderful friend.
We are looking for a Pembroke Corgi puppy, a female. Clio was a sable, and so we look for sable puppies first. Navigating the puppy websites is challenging. We are in touch with breeders in our state.
hello! they are no Christmas pups. Angel was already named when we went at looked at a litter. My dad said we could get two and the sister I chose of Angel wasn't named yet. I chose Holly because it went cute with Angel :)
They are 6 and a half years old! What about yours?
Eddie is the perfect name for a corgi!! funny! We got him from a breeder in Zumbrota - not far from both of us! I actually grew up in Rochester, so the world does seem small! Your page is great by the way!
I am a part of a MN Corgi facebook group, wonder if that's the same thing? I grew up on the SE side of town, not far from where you are. If you're ever ready for another corgi, I could definitely connect you with the breeders in Zumbrota. It's amazing what we do to get a dog, isn't it?
girl! i have seen the footage of Taylor when he was talking about the New Moon movie...i understand....i understand...how hot he is! and when he gets into the window at Bella's home!:)
Tasha has been slightly heavy ever since she was a puppy. Even working with the vet to keep her more trim, she still retained her extra pounds. it was too much of a strain on her back. Overweight corgi's can be prone to back problems.
I will definitely have to pick up a copy of Dog Fancy. I had no idea they had centerfolds!
We are re-thinking the idea of getting a puppy at this time. We might consider it again next year. I sure hope the Corgi in your paper found a good home.
Yes, little Rosie lives about 1 hour from here in Wisconsin. We were so happy to meet her on our walk through a camp ground this past week-end. Rosie was very friendly but Gretzky was more interested in continuing his walk. I really like your profile and now your guest book! very cute
Well, we actually just got home. Last week was just for me - teaching how to use clickers, target stick training and etc. Tonight was Leo's first class and as expected he went into panic mode when the other dogs came in the room. Sounded off barking and peed on the floor when he really got scared. But after about 30 minutes he realized that they weren't all after him and if he looked at me when the others were barking he got treats! Pretty soon he was sitting on command and laying down and even doing roll-overs for me. Next week will be much better now that the newness of the place is past and he will know that he's going to get lot's of treats at this great new place I'm taking him to. As soon as I said his name and he turned to look at me rather than the other dogs I would click and give him a treat. Pretty soon he would just sit and stare at me rather than the other dogs. He's pooped out now though and will sleep good. Very stressful night on his little brain! The class is 6:15- 7:15 Tuesdays at the Roch Feed and Pet supply. I love your new pictures here - I haven't been on here in a while. Busy, busy, busy! Hey, I also go to the Northgate Health Club in Roch - any chance you belong to that too??
she definitely loves her pool, unfortunately a lil to much and popped that one in the pic so we got her like a plastic one from petco. bur lil boy is so adorable, i love your. sophie loves to sleep on her back too...never seen anything like it with my other 2 corigs lol
Hi guys. Hunter is his name. So far so, good! Hunter seems extremely intelligent and catching on quickly. No barking or whining that I have experienced with other breeds.
Thanks for the welcome! Their names are Buford, Bertha and Bessie. They are Mom, Dad and Bessie is their firstborn. Bertha gave birth to Bessie after climbing in bed next to me, so of course I had to keep her!
Thanks for the warm welcome. I loved all your pics. As you know I am new and I have to get my page set up, so you can see my lovable babies. Just gotta love them corgis:)
Hi! Sure I know where you are over in Rochester or somewhere near by. After my son was killed his gf lived with us (about a year) anyhow, I bought her Mattie and so we know from her that they LOVE water and SNOW! We couldn't hardly get her to come in last winter...she would dig holes in the piles of snow and loved to play king of the mountain! We hope Copper is a little less barky as Mattie. So far, so good :)
We didn't have class this past Tuesday - the instructor was gone. But the week before was definitely an improvement over the 1st week. No peeing on the floor and a lot less barking for Leo. So far I guess between the two instructors I've had there are things I like about each one. Sara R. is the one I had for two classes with Sadie and she's much more structured and either seems to have better control of the class or it's just that the surroundings were more conducive to learning for both dogs and people where we met in Kasson. I like this instructor, Sarala, as she isn't quite so "dog trainer" like but the class setting itself is more chaotic. Maybe it's because the room echos a lot or maybe because there's two dogs (not Leo) that really bark a lot and that's really distracting for everyone. Yes, I'd still recommend Pawsability because I also think you get out of it what you put into it. If you practice at home what you learn in the class, when you get to class you'll see if your hard work pays off because there's LOT'S of distractions going on! I probably wouldn't be able to get to class early this next Tuesday to meet up with you but how about the following Tuesday? That would be the 29th. Our class starts at 6:15 so maybe we could meet there about 5:45 or so to say hi and let the boys have a few minutes to meet? Or maybe we could set up a meeting at that Rochester Dog park with other corgi people you've met in the Rochester area on a weekend afternoon? There's a few people I could mention it to also. I've got Twins tickets for this Sunday so that would be out for me but other than that I'm pretty much open. Let me know what you think. Shelby
Happy Anniversary!!!! Edward and Gem are both so adorable...how old is Gem anyway? Bill and I talked about getting a sister for Jovie but we walnted to wait until Jovie was about a year old. We are getting ready to go to the 2009 NC Annual Corgi Picnic in October..can't wait for all that frappin and the cutest bunny butt contest HA HA. I enjoyed all your pictures, please add us as friends on your page...Jovie and I love new friends especially Corgi Friends. Brenda And Jovie
5:45 on the 29th sounds great. If something comes up no big deal - it won't hurt us to be early. The only possible conflict I would have with Oct 4th would be if I happen to get tickets to the Twins game. That's the last game in the Metrodome and I don't know if I will get the tickets yet - probably not as it's been sold out for a long time. I drive a white tahoe with a corgi (of course) sticker in the back window. I usually park at the end of the building facing Broadway at the opposite end of where the furniture store is/was. Shelby
Penguin Butt! So CUTE! I LOVE their lil butts hahaha. I don't think I've ever talked so much about anyones butt! Even when you're a princess you can have an awesome lil bunny butt! Thanks for the comment!
