Yong, active, restless, laid back. Can't picture my life without my corgi.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
We've got Shiro from Dalarno PWC, Virginia. He's very active and keeps me busy. He loves to walk in parks and woods, run on huge open spaces like a madman and most of all play in water. Kiddie pool, bathtub, stream, anything would do.
Shiro really made my life a lot happier. He's goofy, loving and snuggly puppy, the best furry friend I could wish for.
Betty used to be my dad's dog, he moved out of state and asked me to look after her for a year. He used to keep her crated 24/7 letting her out to do her business in the backyard and eat. Sure enough she's very hyper and not very well socialized. Nevertheless, she and Shiro love each other, they play all day long and sleep side by side. She's a much happier dog now, and doesn't ever has to stay in her crate. I don't think my dad is getting her back :)
When I kick the ball, all always barks sharply, twice, when he "catches" it.
We have both a paved and (erstwhile) grassy place for playing, neither legal so must be discreet. I believe the only times Al's suffered pad damage on the pavement was when it was wet (slipping?). We've done it a LOT without trouble. I don't feel too bad about trespassing on the grass 'cause it's in horrible shape; vandals destroyed the watering system, so it's a hummocky mess of grass and bare clay, never used for sports. A candidate for economic stimulus, IMHO.
And little kids LOVE throwing/kicking the ball for them. Do you get that too? Many people recognize them as "the soccer dogs".
Hi Maria and Shiro! The pictures are so cute! I wish I had more pictures of Ashton as a wee little pup, I'm so jealous! Keep taking those pics so you can keep sharing them with us! *hugs*
^___^ I had no idea corgis were so into water. Labs, yes- but corgis? They are like water magnets. And trouble magnets, too... *shifty eyes* Your Shiro is a cutie-pie! I love the white markings that go from the nose to the neck, it is super cute. ^___^
No, we didn't train her not to chase the chinchilla. We just showed it to her when we got it and said, "this is a nice nice, no eat." She sniffed it, gave us a look that said "you've got to be kidding, but whatever." We put up wood to keep them seperated when Tika was loose. Carmel would look over the wood at it and one day we let her in the enclosure. She let Tika jump on her and we knew she was good to go from then on. Same thing for the ferret.
Hi Maria! I was looking at your profile page to see what beach you might have been to, and I noticed your Shiro is a Dalarno puppy. I thought that kennel name sounded familiar, so I looked at their website and realized they have done a fair amount of breeding out with the kennel where we got Jack, which is called Corgard. Some of her breeding stock is by Kandy's (from Corgard) stud dog Tony (Thanks For Th' Memories), and in turn Tony is a daughter of one of Dalarno's females.
I also noticed that they have a few bitches by Jack's sire, Anwyl Winds O' Change.
Do you mind my asking who Shiro's parents are? He and Jack might be cousins or something. :-) Jack is by Anwyl Winds O' Change, out of Corgard Tribute to a Legacy. And Tribute to a Legacy is by Dalarno A Shining Legacy, out of Corgard Tribute to Foxway. The Dalarno/Corgard crosses seem prevalent in Jack's pedigree.
Thanks for saying Jack's not fat! LOL In fact, I think he might be getting too skinny now. I am going to stop saying he weighs 39 pounds around here because someone inevitably chimes in and says that's too much. I was talking to a breeder and she said she had a fluffy that went 35 pounds and was not overweight. You just can't tell by a number.
Ok, I did some sleuthing. . Your Shiro's mom, Loretta, goes by the registered name Triple H Moonstruck at Dalarno. And her father's mother's father, Ch Foxway Corg'rd Crystal Legacy, is also my Jack's mother's father's father. So that makes them, what, 8th cousins twice removed or something? LOL Anyway, Shiro is a cutie-pie! I hope you have as much luck with him as we have had with Jack.
No, I have to have surgery and I know the doctor is going to say loose weight. I just cut soda out of my diet over the winter (along with some evil foods) and I lost 30 lbs. I will go back on that diet again this winter when I am not working crazy hours and trying to stay awake. I have lost half the weight I want to. The 3.00 a day comment is from college. I gained all the weight living on ramen noodles, (bread) and soda. I was working 3 jobs and going to school full time. I could go for 2 days with no food, but I drank a lot of soda and gave myself an ulser (sp). In the end I was absolutely exhausted, living on 4 hours of sleep a day maybe, but I graduated Magnum Cum Laude (sp) and only had $7,000 college debt, and I had that paid off in 2 years.
I just never stopped moving. That was one of the reasons Dad wanted me to get a dog. She calms me and slows me down. Otherwise all I would ever do is work and not have fun. Corgi's are therapists, heating pads, running partners, comedians, and philosophers in a cute furry package.

She is the reason why the dog park is a recreational sport and social club. LOL
Awe thank you! Your Shiro is just too cute. I love his coloring, especially around the eyes. I hope he's feeling a lot better since you wrote the post about his neutering problems!
That's great to hear! Maybe it is the fish oil.. haven't tried it with Conan but we did with my Cocker Spaniel (she's 15) and it made her skin a lot less dry and itchy. Glad to see that everyone is doing well :)
As much as I would have loved to tell her to get the hell out of my chair I couldn't. I just quickly finished and didn't invite her to come back. I just don't understand how somebody could be so ignorant!
Thanks for the hello! Finn is pretty darn cute-- she has totally won me over!! haha. Shiro is super cute, too!! I love his coloring-- like a strawberry blond! And what a neat color as a puppy, too! He looks really expressive and I love all the t-shirts!! I haven't tried to dress Finn up much yet, but I'm hoping she can stand the occasional well placed outfit =)
