I'm a graphic designer working by day for a local printing company, and by night, freelancing my art skills to the highest bidder. I'm very happily married with corgis. :)
My husband (Paws4Thought) has already outlined our family dynamic purrrrfectly, so I'll just give a brief recap. Sadie is a female 10 year old Welsh Pembroke Tri-Color and Rolo is her 3 year old tri-colored adopted brother. We also have a domestic short hair cat who is solid black and named for the Norse god of Mischief, Loki, for good reason.
Welcome to My Corgi. Such beautiful kids you have there! Seems like there are alot of creative people on this website. I wonder if there is a corraltion to creative minds and Corgi People. Wait...that wouldn't explain me.
Couldn't help but notice the MyCorgi.com calendars. Are these member pups or collected shots from royalty free services? I do custom calendars every year near the holidays and find it strange I've never thought to do my own corgi calendar. What a cool gift idea.
Hi there - Welcome! Your babies are adorable. I see you also have a "mini me" toy that looks just like one of them... I have a similar photo on my page that makes me smile every time I see it. You have two great looking dogs! :-) Tracie
Thanks for the positive comments. I too, thought the information was well thought out, that's why I felt it would benefit anyone considering breeding. The person who put this together isn't a breeder but an animal behaviorist student and is very active in the "Behavior and Training" thread in the dogster forums section.
Hi - I don't think Rolo looks like a fluffy to me. Not that I'm an expert by any means - but the ones I've seen have really fluffy hair - not just long hair. My Sadie is 4 months old now and she's just starting to get her collar of longer hair around her neck and "tail feathers" along the backs of her back legs. How old is Rolo in the pictures on your page? He really is adorable. Your Sadie looks like a gentle soul. Is she patient with Rolo? My older dogs Bandit(blue heeler) and Max(Rot cross) tolerate her but would just as well prefer she didn't exist. I'm half tempted (don't tell my husband) to get another corgi this summer so Sadie has someone more her size (and energy level) to play with. Shelby
Thanks for the article link on the flip side of the alpha roll. : - ) Flip side...very punny. I liked the section of the article from the dog's viewpoint.
I had a lot of older friends recommend alpha rolling my last dog (dominant alpha male rottweiller) which I know would have cost me a few stitches...or an arm. We did nothing but extensive positive training for mutual respect, and he turned into a fine, very obedient dog. Never had to use negative punishment...he would definitely have gone from a "hard, but highly trainable" dog to a dangerous dog. Charlie is such a sweetie by comparison. Stubborn yes, but not hard. : - )
i wish that was made by an immature 12 year old, but sadly hes 21. LOL after he made that comment i told him he was ugly! and he said "no i am not!" then i said i dont make fun of your cat, and he was quiet :P
Thanks for the comments on my pictures. The picture of Lizzie was from last spring and it is funn she was in the same flower bed yesterday gazing back throughthe fence...funny girl.
Thank you so much for your comments! I think we're probably going to go with a group training after reading everyones thoughts on one-on-ones. We love little doggie bags (biodegradable, of course) and have them... but have just been dying to use them! We're visiting the vet tomorrow so we'll definitely get her opinion on the outdoor situation. Hopefully we'll get the green light to start taking Kuma outside!
Hey Im not sure what happened, sent a freind request, I thought you were on my friends list already but couldnt find it. : ( Hope to hear from you soon!
