About My Corgi(s):
Sidney is our first purebred corgi and we are thrilled to have him. He was born 7/11/07. We planned to start him in agility training, but there was a long waiting list. So while waiting for an opening, we took classes for therapy dog training. As it turns out, he's a pretty good therapy dog, so we stuck with that and never got around to agility. Now he is training as a Rally dog. We love it! He's one smart little character! Oh, and he's undocked, so his beautiful tail attracts a lot of attention - good attention.

On August 30th, Sidney suddenly came up lame in his hind left leg. The next day we got xrays for him and found out he has severe hip dysplasia. On Sept 7th he had a Femoral Head Ostectomy to relieve the pain. His right hip is not in great shape either but we're hoping that with glucosamine supplements and exercise we can keep it healthy. *Update* You would never know Sid has surgery now. He moves beautifully. The water therapy and supplements have worked wonders.

baby

Bruce is our corgi/elkhound (?) mix. We rescued him from the brink of euthanasia when he was approximately 10-11 years old (he had a day or two left to go). He's about 16 now and his only sign of his advanced age are bad teeth and slow mornings. I adore Brucie and he worships me. He's my funny short angel with a puffball tail (thanks to the elkhound side). He's about 18 now and going strong.

Chester is our "tall dog". He's a black dane/lab mix that we got from a "free to good home" ad in the local newspaper. He's also old, about 15 years old. We know his age because we've had him 14 years, and he was an adult when we brought him home! He's a very serious dog and not very affectionate compared to the corgis, but he has been a very good dog, just aloof. We can't take Chester as many places as the shorties because he does not travel well. He's almost 17 now and has definitely slowed down. *UPDATE* Chester had a sudden decline and was sent to the bridge on April 15th 2013 at the age of 17.

In February 2013 we added Connie to our family. She's a little tri corgi who was picked up as a stray and put up for adoption at our local Humane Society. She's a real sweet girl and loves to play ball. She's learning a lot from Sidney about life here. We can't believe that her family never came to claim her. She's got good manners and she gets along well with the other dogs and the cats, and everyone she meets is her best friend.

And the pack grows! In November we took in a black-headed tri who we named Copper. He and Connie were both born in 2009 and they are great buddies and a ball-chasing tag team. Copper is sweet and cuddly and eager to please.

Pembroke

Hey Geri - Thanks for being a corgi friend! I am guessing the hike is this Thursday the 12th. So far Kenny and I would love to join you. The only hangup would be the return of my Grandson-In-Law from Afganistan. He was scheduled for Tues, then, because of bad weather and being holded up, it is now Wed morning. Sooooo, I wil keep my fingers crossed that there are no more delays. Being positive, send me the time and location you and your friend are meeting and I will let you know for sure tomorrow (Tues) afternoon/evening. I have 2 Corgis, but, only one will come for the walk. The older one, Sophie, is 9 yrs and has arthritis. She has led a busy life and couldn't go the distance. However, Kennychesney and I will be there, I hope!!!!!
  • Sandi Cannon

Hi Geri: Sunday afternoons is not always the best, however, it is workable. My Weim (Mocha) and Kenny have obedience classes Sunday morning and that is usually my commitment for that day. On the other hand, Kenny needs to get more exercise than he does and a Corgi walk would be absolutely wonderful. Keep me posted and I will let you know.

thanks for the welcome. I've never seen a corgi with a tail. i like how the tail has a white tip to it. your corgi is unique.
  • Sudie Gordon

Hi - Thank you for the warm welcome for Dano and Sudie. Glad to be part of the corgi family!!
  • Samantha Dixon

Hey! His name is Murphy! I haven't quite figured out the site yet, we just found it last night. I think I still have quite a bit to put on here, like his name, LOL!

Just a short note from the three of us....that would be Sammy, Merry and their hired hand. We are having 5-8inches of rain, compliments of hurricane IDA...and winds forecasted up to 55 mph. Both dogs are shell-shocked at having to go out in this stuff....Sam gets to the nearest bush as fast as he can and runs for the door....Merry just looks at me like, "what are you thinking...don't you know this is beneath me....Of course I, being the outdoorsy one, am standing at the door staying dry. Best thing...the leaves are comming off the trees in droves and that should be the last of the raking...That is of course, if, Sam and Merry will quit playing in them. We are going to have this stuff for the next two or three days...then it should warm up, sun will shine, and we can go to the park, run through the tunnel, jump over hurdles and get lots of treats....You know who gets the treats now, don't you. Hope all is well at you home. Marion

    Thank You

wow, I would like to say yes that the names are from Lord of the Rings...but I can't./...You see I adopted both of them...One of my friends who breeds Corgi's had Sam returned to her...at that time he weighted almost 60 pounds...I said I would babysit him over the Christmas holidays...we were without a Corgi then...After having him 3 days we received a phone call from the breeder...she asked if we loved him yet...we, of course, said yes...he became our Christmas gift from her....Merry was given to me by a client who came to the Vet I worked for....They had decided to stop showing Corgi's and show Chows instead....Merry was shown in California with some success....I have all her show records, ribons and etc. She was somewhat nasty with other dogs....but loved Sam....They are truly best buddies...and I wouldn't part with them for the world. Marion
  • Roxy's Mom

Thank you for the welcome Geri & Sidney!
Roxy is my first Corgi, I have had dachshunds for many years.
Roxy truly brings alot of joy and an abundance of energy to our home.
I have so much I want to learn about this breed, but have not found to many people where we live that own them, so when I found this site I was ecstatic!
  • Heide-Marie von der Au

    hi Geri & Sidney
    thank you for the message!
I'm sure she's all Corgi, but I'm not sure of Mimmo's heritage - as she was adoopted from the animal rescue people. Scampy / Foofit was more of a cross - with his floppy ears, and he had a gorgeous tail...
  • Jim & Debbie Gallomore

    Thanks Geri & Sidney.
  • Mary and Rosie

Thank you for the welcome! I'll bet its beautiful and dry in southern CA. =)
It does get tricky with Rosie in the rainy season, I think I'll buy her a raincoat. I'm getting tired of holding an umbrella for her. ;)
  • Paul Hendry

Thanks for watching Re-Bourne...Hey, that's a good looking corgi you have...and I'm an English teacher. The corgis weren't hungry the first day and we had to reshoot...They're only it for the treats.
  • Janice Moroney

Thank you for the welcome. Glad to be apart of the group!

Her name is Coco. :) What's your Corgi's name?
  • Ellen Mai

    Hi! Thanks for the welcome!
  • Lexy Leigh and Rye Montileaux

Thanks so much! My pup loves posing for pictures...anything that gets her attention! :) Corgi's each have their own odd personality. I love your corgi's color by the way. She's a perfect red! We're thinking about getting Isabelle another friend to keep her company and this time we might just have to consider going with the red coat.
  • Florian Stone Wells

I am so sorry but I don't think I thanked you for your kind comment, back in June. The only excuse I have I've got side tracked, and lately I was in hospital with a major surgery ( I have cancer). Thank you again,
    Florian Stone Wells

Thank you for the welcome =)
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

I'm brand new to this site, so I have no idea what I'm doing. But thanks for your comments about Lucy and your appreciation of the medicinal use of vodka when flying with a corgi! Look forward to more comments and photos of your corgi(s) & any other pets. W

Thank you for the invite Geri and Sidney. A corgi meet up sounds like so much fun...more so than watching the Chargers. I just looked up the directions to the park and my girls and I will be there with Ringo. Can't wait!

Hi Geri & Sidney, thank you for the warm welcome! I don't at the present time, have a Corgi, but love them! I have a friend who has two Corgis, both girls. I have seen Corgis at dog shows, and I always wind up at the ring where they are showing :) It must be a sign! I cannot decide between pem or Cardi, as I love both breeds. I would like to know more about the differences in personality. I have heard that the Pem (and the ones I know personally) are more comical, while the Cardis ( I don't know any personally) are more reserved. I'm not sure what I am doing in getting around the site here, but look forward to reading and learning more. Thank you again! ~Lyn, aka BudsMom
  • Stacia & **Toby**

Hello! Thanks for the welcome! It sounds like you have a big family!! Do the cats and the dogs get along? So far our cat isn't loving having to share our attention with the new puppy. I am hoping eventually she warms up to him...
  • Mary

Thanks! It's awesome hearing that there are therapy corgis out there! Did you have to take another test in addition to the CGC? I might try to have her tested for the akc puppy stars, it kind of sounds like a precursor test to the CGC and might be good experience. When did you start doing therapy classes with Sidney, and did you take any traditional obedience classes before the therapy classes?
  • Anne Pinkerton

Thanks for the note, Geri & Sidney. I have to check out this tail! Glad to see another corgi boy who loves to hike. Does he swim too?

    Anne
  • Mary

Congrats on making the calendar Sidney!
  • Juel

    i second that! Congrats!
  • Mary Stremmel

Hi Geri & Sidney... it is possible my little Charlie is but I don't know. Were Sidney's ears floppy when he was a puppy?
  • Malcolm & Latte

Thanks for the welcome! I'm glad I found this website. *grin*
  • Mary Stremmel

Well.. Charlie is 3 months and when he goes potty he also kicks up the grass... he digs is back paws into the ground and actually kicks it up.. does Sidney do that?
  • Kristen Schaub

I love Sydney smile...it is so sweet..-)

Thanks for the Welcome! We havent found the right name yet, still working on it. Any ideas? Your guy, Sidney, is too cute!
  • Simon & Anne

Thanks for the comments. Your dogs are beautiful. I love the corgis' tails!
  • Marius

Thank you for the warm welcome. The lil bugger's name is Kit, short for Kitsune ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitsune ). I actually thought of the name before getting him, and then a couple of my friends poo pooed the idea and there was a debate on what to name him for 2 months...then I just decided to go with my first instinct. I have to correct myself and start calling him Kit instead of "babyshka" which is an endearing term in Lithuanian which just means lil baby. You have a very charismatic pup yourself, I love the fact he still has his tail. Its hard sometimes to see if Kit is happy, but I can see his little butt wiggle from time to time.
  • Priscilla

Thanks for the kind welcome. Magnolia and I are happy to be part of a new group of corgi friends...
  • Nat

Thank you for welcoming me. I had a beautiful Corgi named Missie, she passed last November at the great age of 16. I miss her so much.
  • Amelia Yap

You mean breeders actually cut their tails off? i thought pembrokes have no tails since the day they're born! this is really interesting.. in Honey's license she's a corgi cross. honestly, we are not too sure whether she's pembroke or cardi. what is undocked btw? anw, thanks for your comments! :)
  • Amelia Yap

its always great to know more about corgis! haha :) especially from someone halfway across the globe, its 12.46am now in sg. Honey sure is a pretty dog, she was abandoned actually and found and fostered by a girl and her family but they couldnt look aft honey so my dad knew her mum and thats how i got honey :D its a pity my parents work so i cant really bring honey to parks or beaches that often..
