a bewildered twenty-something year old born and raised in southern california... works for the los angeles kings... most importantly loves corgis!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
i now have one!!!! his name is Spartacus! i wanted to give him some sort of heroic name. it was either this or napoleon, but i felt Spartacus was that much funnier! he was born on 2/23 and is just a bundle of energy!
he's a tri-colored pup atm, i believe he's going to be red-headed one day. and.. he likes to sleep.. ALOT!!! i think cuz i might be too boring for him?
Welcome...Everyone here will be happy to share their Corgis with you on MyCorgi until you get your own! Lizzie, Fergi and Brodie send cyber Corgi kisses your way.
Welcome Lemon Treez. . .you won't regret getting one of these little critters. . .hope you get one soon so you can enjoy the best company ever. . .Corgis Rule!. . . .
They have been the most entertaining and intellegent breed I have ever owned. Finding a good breeder is a good first step. Even if it will be a while before you get one. We waited a long time for our last Corgi and the breeder we worked with was wonderful.
We have 2things in common! I have a 11week old Pembroke and we love watching hockey. Steve & I root for the Kings (they can only get better, right?). Once he gets all his shots I'm taking him to go watch friends play ice & roller hockey.
Thank you for the lovely comments, LemonTreez!!! You're so smart to love the Corgi breed...you'll fall even more deeply in love when you get one. They're amazing little creatures!
P.S. I lived in SoCal for three years and I'm sorely missing the weather...
Hi Therese,
You have come to the right place. I have learnt alot too about the most beautiful breed (maybe I am biase?) in the world from these good people. Currantly, I'm with my 3rd. Corgi, Ritz. The past 2 Corgis, Roger & Roy have since passed on.
picking up hte new bundle TODAY?!?? =) just saw your blog post, congrats! also, also, when i first brought my bailey home, he was quite shy - just investigating everything and hiding behind something when i threw a toy. =P but he sure did warm up the next day! oooo plus, expect some whining the first night in his crate (if you are crating him at nighttime) - they deont like it , but when theyt whine, just take them to their potty spot and let them go and then putthem back in. i woke up about 4 times the first night, twice the second, and low and behold in a weeek he was able to hold it the entire night if i took up the water 2 hrs before bedtime. hes now 3 months old and i still look back on the first videos i had of him and ahh! =) well enjoy the weekend!
your welcome. he's so cute. hes looks a lot like bailey when he was a pup (hahah im talking like hes 6 years or something - i only got him over a month ago but it seems like eternity), but a tri. sooo cute. It must be hard saying spartacus all day - what's his nickname? Sparty? hehe, have lots of fun!
Well, give it time. Sounds like he is still a little uncertain and nervous. After all, it is going to take some time for him to get to know you and trust you and trust that if you leave him alone outside you will come back for him. It's probably scary being all alone without his mom and littermates and all these new people around. I'm sure he'll warm up fast. My corgi is about five months old now and has become very bonded to me. She's at the point now where she'll go to her kennel all by herself if she needs a little down time. She spends the day at my dad's and stays in the backyard, but they leave the door to the office open and there's a kennel in there. When she wants to rest, she usually comes in and lays in her kennel. I wouldn't have guessed she would like it so much, but I think it is nice and comfy for her. Good luck with your baby. He looks so cute! I love his little collar.
Thank you for the compliments! I saw similarities too, I think that is what drew me in... I can't resist that face! :-) He is an absolute doll and I love the name too!
Thanks! She doesn't get to play with the mini corgi because he was too pricy to be destroyed in under an hour, but she is allowed to pose with it. The trick I use to get the head tilt is saying "Do you wannaaaaa???" and holding out the "a" sound. She can't wait to hear if I am going to say "go for a walk, play ball, have a treat" so the head tilt insues. :-) Yummy treats by the camera always help too. Thanks for checking out my pics.
Were you able to attend the picnic yesterday? There were so many Corgis and human companions. I didn't keep track who from Mycorgi.com was able to attend other than Ginny.
Anyway, I took pictures of the event. You can find a link on my latest blog entry if you're interested.
Hmm!!! I opted actually not to do a dog party. I think it'll be something simple, like a home-cooked dinner and a doggy cake from a doggy bakery for dessert. That and some toys for presents. =D hahaha. I wish I had the day off work to take him to the park (his favorite place!!), but it looks like I'll have to make it up to him the following weekend. Plus, he's going to the dog park TWICE today! =D he seems quite excited.. lol.
