About My Corgi(s):
Sidney is our first purebred corgi and we are thrilled to have him. He was born 7/11/07. We planned to start him in agility training, but there was a long waiting list. So while waiting for an opening, we took classes for therapy dog training. As it turns out, he's a pretty good therapy dog, so we stuck with that and never got around to agility. Now he is training as a Rally dog. We love it! He's one smart little character! Oh, and he's undocked, so his beautiful tail attracts a lot of attention - good attention.

On August 30th, Sidney suddenly came up lame in his hind left leg. The next day we got xrays for him and found out he has severe hip dysplasia. On Sept 7th he had a Femoral Head Ostectomy to relieve the pain. His right hip is not in great shape either but we're hoping that with glucosamine supplements and exercise we can keep it healthy. *Update* You would never know Sid has surgery now. He moves beautifully. The water therapy and supplements have worked wonders.

Bruce is our corgi/elkhound (?) mix. We rescued him from the brink of euthanasia when he was approximately 10-11 years old (he had a day or two left to go). He's about 16 now and his only sign of his advanced age are bad teeth and slow mornings. I adore Brucie and he worships me. He's my funny short angel with a puffball tail (thanks to the elkhound side). He's about 18 now and going strong.

Chester is our "tall dog". He's a black dane/lab mix that we got from a "free to good home" ad in the local newspaper. He's also old, about 15 years old. We know his age because we've had him 14 years, and he was an adult when we brought him home! He's a very serious dog and not very affectionate compared to the corgis, but he has been a very good dog, just aloof. We can't take Chester as many places as the shorties because he does not travel well. He's almost 17 now and has definitely slowed down. *UPDATE* Chester had a sudden decline and was sent to the bridge on April 15th 2013 at the age of 17.

In February 2013 we added Connie to our family. She's a little tri corgi who was picked up as a stray and put up for adoption at our local Humane Society. She's a real sweet girl and loves to play ball. She's learning a lot from Sidney about life here. We can't believe that her family never came to claim her. She's got good manners and she gets along well with the other dogs and the cats, and everyone she meets is her best friend.

And the pack grows! In November we took in a black-headed tri who we named Copper. He and Connie were both born in 2009 and they are great buddies and a ball-chasing tag team. Copper is sweet and cuddly and eager to please.

Thanks for the welcome and kind words about MaGuire. I have asked him about his history, but he prefers to keep the past to himself. My Vet calls him Mr. Attitude. That is after she helped with his "chocolate experience". I love his attitude - it's all business!!
  • Kaydee Toffoli

yes it is nice having a chef around because I can NOT>>> cook! but he does work a lot, and have gotten used to it most of the time. your puppy is super cute! and thanks about Bene, so far he is a blast. He has a little attitude on him but mainly when he gets tired. I really love this breed. I cant wait to start training him and see what he can do. how long does it take to potty train them?

Hi Geri and Sidney, thank you for the welcome.Wanted to let you know what an awsome thing you guys are doing! We have a pembroke mix named tiki, since she was a rescue we dont know exactly how old she is somewhere between 13-15. She is our heart, the best most loving animal we have ever had.It is because of her that we have become corgi people.Keep up the good work!
  • Haley Trezise

Hi. Yes the next Highland Games we go to we will try to take Ein if they allow dogs there (unsure). Been a couple years since we went. We do take him to a local flea market we have a table at Saturdays from May to October, he is good with all people and most dogs. :-)
  • Christen & Bentley

    Thanks for the welcome.
Mickey's doing well so far. Poor guys had another rescue dog attack him. He had to have several stitches all over him. SOOOOOOO, half his little body is shaved. After everything he has the best persomality! Everyone, keep in mind, he's up for adoption.

Thank you for the welcome, we look forward to having some fun with this group. I can't imagine having anything other then Corgies anymore they have a way of stealing your heart and making you mad at teh same time. In the end we always have a good laugh at Lil. She is our little girl.
  • Parker and Barbara

Thank you! We've attended two play dates so far, and Parker loves it! He comes home very exhausted! This seems like a fun group and lets face it --if you love your corgi you have to be good people! Looking forward to more events.
  • Sharon F

Thanks. It's nice to find a place that's all about Corgis! I love Sidney's tail, the best of both corgis :)

I'll get some pix posted as soon as school gets out. Twenty-three days left and I'll have time again. I teach junior high. Planning to try some pix myself with my new camera but may take them to a professional photog to see what he can do They're quite a bunch - I have other dogs too but these 4 rule the roost. Naturally, they're corgis.
  • Angela DeMahy

I should say she's a she lol as she would be missing some anatomy! Thanks for the welcome, she's a fantastic family member and listens better than the kids!

We moved to Florida after Katrina and the apartment complex had a woman that worked for an animal hospital. Haley was 4 months old and the breeder brought her in to be euthanized because she was to small to sell and she was bow legged in the back. The lady that worked there said she would find her a home and the breeder said she would have to be spayed before she would consider it. So she was spayed at 3 months. I lived close p her and she was always bringing somebody home for a visit. She brought Haley home my son took one look ar her and fell in love. He talked to the lady and heard her story and came got me. The first time that I saw her she was walking away and her rump twisted from side to side like a lady walking, and then he did this little side saddle sit and I was a goner.

Thank you! Will give it a shot. Not being familiar with the site, I was a bit overwhelmed. So anxious to get some help because we are having a hard time even thinking about the eventual outcome. Our girl was a rescue to begin with, and has given us 7 years of love.
  • Becki Mildenstein

Thanks for the welcome....fortunately for Mickey, he's already been adopted. What a joy it was to have him....if only for a short time. He absolutely sold me on the breed.

Thank you for the welcome! We found out about this website from a woman and her husband who were hanging out on Whitecap Beach here in Corpus Christi this past weekend. I'm so glad we ran into her.

As for what Mally is playing with on the beach, its a coconut that washed up in the surf. She just loves coconuts and even carries them once she gets a good grip.....doesn't matter how heavy and water logged it might be! lol
  • Karen Matuszewski

Thanks Geri & Sidney for the welcome to the My Corgi page. It's hard not to spend too much time on this page as there are soooooo many cute corgis, stories and videos to watch! Got to go do some work now so I can support my Corgi, Remy, in the manner to which he has become accustomed!
  • Jennifer Carver

Thank You, you have such cute pups. Soo glad I found this page, of course all the corgi lovers are I'm sure. :)
  • Krystal G

    Thanks for the welcome! :)
  • Kristi Martens

I will post wonderful photos of my marvelous corgi soon. Thanks!
  • Neal H Heupel

Yeah, they are well treated, and get good food (Eagle Pack brand), good exercise (when weather permits) and they are very much loved. We are concerned that Bridget will be devastated when he passes, so we are now looking for a pup as a companion for her, but that still doesn't make the thought of his passing any easier. Who knows, he may live another year, no one can believe he is that old, but I can tell he is getting symptoms of old age!! Thanks again for the welcome Geri and Sidney!!
