Have known that I wanted a blue merle cardigan for going on 15 years, but wanted to make sure I had a secure home before I got one. Have wanted to show cardi's in the ring since I first saw Kingsbury's Harry P take the title some years ago. Alas, it was not to be, as the show pup I was going to purchase did not meet breed standards. I decided to own a non show corgi first, and get some practice with AKC competition before getting my show puppy. My ultimate doggy wish is to find a male show pup descendant of Ch Kingsbury's I'm Harry P to take to Westminster (which probably won't happen until after I win the Powerball lottery)... UPDATE = I have my Harry P great-grandson, now to make it all the way to Westminster!!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?

About My Corgi(s):
Blue Merle Altered Male - Tartanwyn Frost From Angels Breath "Frosty" born 12/15/2008. According to our breeder, Frosty was an only pup litter. When x-rayed before birth, he stretched from mommy's neck to tail. A c-section had been planned for 2 days after his birth. Unfortunately for mommy, she went into labor with Frosty during a major snow/ice storm, so they were unable to get her to a vet. Our breeder spent a terrible 20 minutes assisting his delivery and they were all relieved when he came out healthy. The breeder said that an angel must have been breathing for him during the long difficult delivery, and that's where he got his name. At birth, Frosty was the size of a 3 week old puppy. And being the only pup, he got all the milk and exploded in size. He is definitely the biggest corgi I have ever seen. Not fat big, just big big. He has the hugest feet ever!! We brought home Frosty on 02/06/2010. He is awesome! Frosty was set to be a show dog, but grew way too fast and ended up at a huge 40 pounds, so we got him as a pet puppy. It was a challege bringing home a 1 yr old instead of a puppy, but he has turned out to be the most awesome dog EVER!!
Brindle Intact Male - Kingsbury's Dragon In Flight "Drake" born 3/29/2013. My little show prospect that we brought home on July 20th. So far he is a sharkface monster lol, but hopefully he will shape up into a beautiful conformation boy!
Yes - if you go to the Pecan Valley website, his call name is Lance. There's a gorgeous pic of him on there. In Kodi's 5gen pedigree there are only 2 non-champions. I wanted a fluff because he's my first and I'm "downsizing" from a lifetime of collies. ;) Also - it's a great way to get a fantastic breeding without having to pay for show quality. He came from Davinitch Kennels - in Illinois, just east of the Quad Cities.
Showing will be a commitment, but at least grooming is a lot easier with cardi's than collies, which my mom raised and showed most of my life. (I spent 15 hours last weekend helping her just bathe and groom her 6 dogs) I plan on trying to get Kodi titled in obedience and perhaps some other fun stuff. Maybe we'll see each other at shows! (I'm from Des Moines)
There are 3 Iowa Cardi people that show and have blogs:

The Cardi Corgi Capers folks have Kodi's littermate, Ella. The Winjammin folks are close to me and I plan on contacting them for advice when I get back from my vacation in August. Shows are kind of at a lull right now around here.

Hi! I just talked with her today, actually. I didn't know that you wanted him to show; she did mention that she didn't think that eyelid was going to fill in. Personally, I'd still show a dog if there was color at the corner of the eye (the standard says "white should never surround the eye," so I think it's fine as long as there's some color touching the eye, and plenty of people think that it's fine to show a dog with white completely surrounding one eye because the standard says "eyes"), but I know she likes to have color completely around it.
I know Betty Ann is thinking of a breeding for later in the fall and it sounds like it's going to be great, so if this one doesn't turn out I am sure there will be something later.
I waited through two or three litters to get Clue (in my avatar) so I have been there, believe me. I'd much rather have Betty Ann's very, very high standards than some other breeders who decide that everything in the world is show quality.
Chris,
There's a show at the Amana Colonies RV & Events center on August 29-30 that has a lot of corgi's entered. (especially the Sunday show). It would be a great chance for you to come up and meet a lot of the local corgi people/breeders....
Hi Chris,
Corgi's show at 8 am in ring 5 on Sat. and 8 am in ring 8 on Sunday. Kodi and I are driving over tonight and staying in my RV. Maybe I'll see you there. I'm in RV spot G5.
Gosh what a beautiful dog. I don't know any Cardis, so I'm curious about how their personalities differ from Pems.
I'd say something about that long luxurious otter tail, but if Al & Gwynn got wind of it, they might chew on my boots or something. I think they sometimes log on here when I'm not around.
Mine chase cats all the time, I guess it's what they do. After all they are herding dogs. I've just given my cats their own room with a baby gate to give them their space away from the dogs.
Hi Chris - congrats on Frosty - he's a beautiful pup. He looks very happy! Kodi is doing great and I have caught the show bug and am possibly close to getting a little sister for him. Keep your fingers crossed!
What a gorgeous dog.
Don't tell Al or Gwynn I said so! They overheard me say, "...I'd love to have a Cardigan..."
I quickly had to add, "...I really Do need a new sweater!"
Hi Chris,
Thank you for commenting about Joy. I think the 1st week was the hardest. We were both getting used to each other. She's on a routine now. I can't believe how much personality she has! She is a hoot! And the way she sleeps - spread eagle. I luv your Cardigan Corgi Frosty - what an expressive face! Thank you again. I'll keep you posted on the happenings of Joy aka Houdini. : )
I see you're from Ottumwa...I got 4 Pembroke rescues from there 2 years ago this month! Wiley on my pics is one of them...she is a my very special sweetheart!
Aw, thank you for the friending and the compliments on my crew! :)
Frosty is gorgeous too -- what a pretty guy! :) (I admit, I'm totally partial to merles myself, they're my favorite, haha! I can totally understand how you'd scoop him up and take him home; he's handsome!)
I love your cats, too! ;) I'm a cat person at heart (shhhh!)
