Hello! My name is Viola. I am a very lucky owner of a wonderful little female Corgi. Her name is Mia :)
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Mia came from Diane Molnar in Adams, New York. She was born on May 4th, 2010 along with 8 other litter mates, 4 males and 5 females, including Mia herself. We picked her up on Saturday, June 26th, 2010. We are so happy to have her as part of our family. She's smart, sweet, loving, and full of energy. We couldn't ask for better.
Jackie, whom we miss and think of every single day..., RIP we love you and we will never forget you.
I only know of the Corgi owners in Mtl on this site. Mirah lives in Kirkland, and is 9 months old. I have yet to meet Justine who has two males, and is now fostering a shelter female. Hopefully we can all get together this summer for a Corgi playdate. I wonder where the NY puppies are going in Mtl? Maybe some will show up on the site :)
Hello! Welcome to the site! Congrats on the new baby...it will be so exciting to get her. What a way to ring in Canada Day! :) She is beautiful. Great to have more Montreal members coming on here. We meet with one of our friends who has a corgi (who we met on here as well) at the Dr. Penfield dogpark pretty often and Judy and I have been discussing meeting up ...hopefully soon! We have two male orgis, Mickey and Walter who I AM SURE would love to play with your little girl..lol.. We also have a frmale corgi from SPCA Monteregie at the moment who is overweight but now doing great! More energy by the day. Cant wait to chat :)
Hi Viola! Are you ready for your new baby? An exciting time~ I am sure you cant wait. Where do you have to drive to to pick her up?
Best of luck to you ~

Oh a New York puppy :) So exciting! Well we have two sweet little boys! The first one we got Mickey was from a shelter in St-Constant. Imagine, dropping him off and saying see ya! He was only 6 months old as well..he is the sweetest little thing ever. Then we got Walter from a breeder in Napierville and after some detective work with the breeder...we figured out Mickey and Walter are actually brothers!!! Same parents, different litter. They certainly act like brothers. I never could have expected them to get along so well and play like real brothers..haha.
They had an instant bond. It was pretty amazing. Walter is our devil of the two, he is a handful that is for sure but we love him :) We also have another corgi with us that we are fostering right now. She is 7 years old and came from SPCA Monteregie. It will be sad once she gets adopted :( We love her even if she is obese! Can not wait to see some more pics of your little lady!
No she doesnt have a website, and to be honest I wouldnt go with her again. She was great to the pups and they were spoiled and stuff but she just wasnt what I was looking for and didnt know the breed the way I would have thought. She was just breeding to breed and there are enough puppies in the world without homes to go around. We would only do adoption now. You should try and adopt a rescue corgi from a shelter when you do decide to add another one :) Corgis show up in montreal every once ina w hile and there are ALWAYS some in the states!!
We were really lucky to find Mickey. I looked for over a year every single day on petfinder and then one day poof, there he was! Haha. So glad we found him!
I think it was meant to be. You have to forgive my over-excitment but I LOVE corgi puppies and cant wait to see her..haha..even though we have never met. Corgi puppies are my ultimate weakness. Walter was sooo cute as a pup although we got him at 3 and a half months and his ears never fully popped..haha.. Your girl is going to be so beatiful. Does she still have her tail?
I used to think that as well. Mickey has his tail and Walter has a "stub" haha Our foster Astrid is properly and fully docked... The only thing I dont like is you cant see the tail wagging if they are happy :( Walters stub is always moving..haha The mommy is very pretty :) Looks a bit like Mickey.
HI Viola this is a very neat site.so glad you told me about it.just took new pictureof mia hope to send them today. She is just a litte sweety grandkids love her.I will see you on the 26th
Vetdiet is recommended at Mondou all the time. Dont get it. We actually have a bag sitting in our closest because we got a free bag with a crate purchase. dont bother... even our vet said its not good. You should try to feed grain free. I answered to the thread with you and Judy. Orijen is NOT much more expensive, especially when you buy big bags and is GREAT puppy food. Lots of calories for an active little lady! :)
Hi! I just went on your page to wish you luck for tomorrow but I see you already got her! Congrats, that is so exciting. I see your discussion you posted about her behavior... try and remember she is only 8 weeks old. It will take her a while to adjust and be patient :) I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to meet her *hint hint* :)
So happy for you! Mickey and Walter are fully vacinated and generally are angels around corgis :) They love them. It is important to properly introduce her to dogs. Because she is so small I suggest picking her up and allowing the other dogs to smell her (bum), that way you control the meeting and she feels safe. It also ensures bigger dogs or even intense small ones dont rush her right away...
As for the crate, you should feed her in it... give her treats in it..make it a very fun place to be!!
Well that is up to you! She is your dog and you get to make the choices for her :) I know a bit about dogs but that doesnt mean ours are always good...hahaha Walter is a reincarnation of the devil I am sure.. haha! They are both gentle with puppies though although they do enjoy a good herd and frap! Mickey is very gentle with puppies especially when he is introduced properly. Mickey is kind of like a little girl, reminds me of a mommy.
Also another thing with the crate (crate training can be hard just so you dont get discouraged) but when she cries, when you first put her in of course, not when she cries to do her pee or poop, do not let her out. As soon as you let her out she knows she ca cry to get out. Practice with her alot....like tonight or today if you are not at work you can give her a treat in there and shut the door for like a minute...if shes good and doesnt cry then after that minute let her out and tell her what a good girl shes been. If she cries dont let her out, when she stops crying then she can come out. She is very young though...
You got her early eh?
Last year we brought them to the one on Dr Penfield all summer but we went once this summer and didnt have that much fun...alot more people NOT picking up poop... our dogs have a nasty habit of eating it so it sucks for us... but we will still go! WE usually go to the one by our place in Rosemont but we go later at night. The dog park can be a very fun place or a very intense place, esecially when people bring unnutered dogs into it, then wonder why fights start...?? hmmm let me guess? Anyways we have good and bad days at the parks, our dogs dont like certain "unnutered hyper males that dont leave them alone" so we try and see who is in there first. Since she isnt fully vacinated we could go somewhere else if you want? Usually not a great idea to bring a puppy into a dog park anyways (especially one that tiny!) :)
Hey Viola!!! Luna is actually our kitten lol. Zoe would be Mia's sister haha. They definitely look like sisters and I definitely see that in the pictures you have online. In fact, I remember that same couch and yard haha. Just goes to show you how good this website is!
We heard someone was coming in from Canada to pick up one of the pups. How was the ride with her and how is she doing in her new home?
Zoe is a bundle of joy. Based on your Mia... I would say they are definitely sisters haha. She likes to run and pounce on everything. Every time we see her she jumps up on us and tries to get as far up our legs as possible. It's so cute. I will say she has the loudest set of puppy lungs I've ever heard in my life. I took a video of her in her crate the first day on my phone and she was howling up a storm. I then sent it to my brother who has a 110 lb golden retriever. He heard the whining and got all excited because he thought another dog was in the house. It sounded hilarious. They are actually meeting this weekend! That should be a lot of fun.
Zoe does bite the fingers and the toes a lot. I basically just try to give her another toy, but she get bored so easily. That's ok though. At 8 weeks, you can't expect much haha. She's our first corgi ever and our first pup that we are raising together. She has actually let us sleep the last two nights. We are having the same problem as you though. We gated off the kitchen and let her roam around in there, but she just pees during the night. So we are going to start crating as well. We started today while we are at work and see how she does. We expect and accident, but it's nothing a washer/dryer can't get out for her haha. She loves electric cords and chasing our cat. That is becoming her favorite past time. However, just yesterday our cat is becoming braver and started pawing Zoe's nose. It was soooo cute.
Zoe will be going for obedience lessons as soon as she is old enough. When she grows a little we are going to get an electric fence too. That way she can run around and burn off some energy outside. Haven't tried walking her yet. We'll probably keep letting her grow a little before that. Also started her on a meal schedule to see if that helps with the training (and she should be on one anyway). All in all, we are thrilled to have her. I'm glad we found a sibling. I love this website! I just stumbled across it with questions on Zoe and figured I would join. Never imagined we'd find other members of her family. The internet is a great thing haha.
Hoping to have more pictures up soon (and thanks for the picture of "sweetheart", that is our little girl)! Hope all goes well with Mia!
Hey there :) We will be able to drive where ever so if you want to pick a spot you are comfortable with we can come. We will tire our boys out first so they will be calm"ish" haha. Hope you had a great day with your little pup! Take lots of pictures!
