About Me:
I am a grandma, wife and mom. My empty nest was filled by 2 wonderful corgis. Both have passed over the Rainbow Bridge and so has my sweet doberman, Misty. We lost our sweet corgi Izzy suddenly due to liver failure April of 2016.Our Cardigan, Watson is two and a total social butterfly and licking goofball. Supposedly Cardis are more serious than pems but not our Watson. We were very fortunate to be able to add a beautiful Wentworth Pembroke the end of April. Lexi is a tri colored corgi and just as cute as can be. Watson is in seventh heaven playing constantly with Lexi. Corgis are so fun and adaptable! We were able to attend the Florida Corgi picnic last November. It was awesome seeing about 250 corgis fraping around. Our cats, Cheech and Chong add to the hair and fun at our house. I love to walk in the Lake Lansing North Park in the woods and travel with the dogs and my husband in our RV.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
Lexi is a tri colored Pembroke. She is still a baby but quite amazing as a smarty pants.
Watson is two year old Cardigan that alternates between being a little cuddlier to being absolutely wild. We also have two cats that like to cuddle. Life is never dull or hair free at my house.
I had to help my beautiful tri colored corgi, Sparty, over to the Rainbow Bridge after a bout with cancer and my sweet doberman, Misty. We lost Buffy many years ago and recently our sweet Izzy due to liver failure. It was so difficult and a piece of my heart went with them but I feel very lucky to have discovered corgis and this web site of great people.
I have:
Both Pembroke and Cardigan

Hi, Bev: Don't give up on your dream. Start drawing in a sketchbook, if even for a few minutes a day. The link http://lauriebarrows.com/parent_talk.htm will take you to my website that encourages people to draw daily. Feel free to contact me if you like!
  • Roger/Laurie

Tenby says thank you for the birthday wish. He is very happy in his forever home. (He came from rescue at 6 months)
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thanks Bev for your comforting words...better than wine, which is quite a compliment from me!
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Glad you enjoy wine. I had a feeling you might. It was that or a burger, two of my favorite things! Thanks for all your kind words AND your way with words. Wish I had your brevity. I have been blessed with amazing Corgis over the years. I'm grateful that my neighbor had a Pembroke, Hermitage, probably the only Corgi in Long Beach, NY, at that time. My mom and I were smitten with Hermitage & because of him, we got Gorki. I was fortunate that my husband was smitten with the Gork, too. Gorki was quite a character. He either liked you or he didn't. He loved Jack. BTW, Jack & I are married 36 years and I think I read somewhere that you and your hubby are right up there with us. We're pretty lucky...great Corgis and great men in our lives.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Hmm...when's your anniversary? Mine is Nov. 18.

I've only had R & W Pembrokes & have never wanted anything else, since my first. But, I would love a little tri puppy. BTW, have you seen the R & W Pembrokes with full foxy looking tails, complete with a white tip at the end? Unlike the Cardis, their tails go up.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Close no cigars re. our anniversaries. I actually picked out date bec. it had an 8 in it. I'm very superstitious. 8s and 3s. Re. undocked Pems. I've had Pems over 40 yrs and I had no idea that an undocked Pem would have anything more than a stub or knob. I was stunned when I saw photos from Europe of an undocked Pembroke. Scroll to the very bottom of the page: http://americanakitas.org/limbonsnest/foto.html
I was totally unprepared for this. I have never seen one other than on this site, and now I've been keeping my eyes open. I read somewhere that they started docking the tails because farmers were shooting Corgis, mistaking them for foxes. I don't know that I buy that, but they couldn't look foxier than this––especially with the white-tipped tail! Talk about a faerie dog.
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Well Izzy iz adorable, with or without a tail. Lucy, too, has nothing. I can't believe that Sparty is turning 14. He looks so much younger. Way to go Sparty. You're an inspiration.
  • Greg Doornbos-Ross

I was going to comment that Old Red behind the dogs looked familiar. You must have been at the Holland State Park.
  • Darlene Hennessy

For all your help with the boarding!
  • Andrea De Leo

Bev, Thank you so much for the compliment! :)
  • Toby {Brenda}

Thank you Bev- for your kind words, it will be a week tomorrow that Riley passed away. This has been so hard on my daughter and I, we had him for 9 years and he was my baby boy- apart of me.. I hope that sometime in the near future to get another corgi, he was the best little dog I ever had...My cats are even missing him terrible one of them is always in his pillow.. Thank you again....
  • LaRissa L. Head

Bev, you are just lucky! Nate wanted to steal Sparty, and I wanted Izzy... if we had come to a consensus you would have been short one dog!
You and you dogs are great! i'm so glad we finally met face to face!
  • Diane Burda

Thanks so much for responding to my post. When you say that you kept her activity restricted at first, what exactly did you do.? gunny has so many auditory triggers that make him jump and run in one direction or another I am afraid to leave him alone. If someone comes to the door he will jump at the door without thinking. He runs in circles when he sees me open the doors to the backyard...I would like to avoid the surgery too . Dr. put him on Rimadyl( nonsteroidal anti inflamatory) for pain and suggesed an Glucosamine suppliment. He will check Gunny in a week . Does you dog have any limp at all now?
  • Diane Burda

Oops So sorry Bev...that last thing I wrote was actually for another person that wrote to me. Sorry I got things mixed up. It's been a trying day!
  • Diane Burda

Any adverse reactions to the Rimadyl? I have read some very scary stuff about it. I am so afraid of giving him something for the pain and then causing some more serious irreversable condition.
  • Diane Burda

Sorry if I am repeating myswelf. How old was your guy when he tore his ACL. The vet has told me that Gunny's ACL is non functioning at this point so I guess that means totally torn. He did not do an MRI though, just an xray. Did you have more than an x-ray done to determine exstent of injury? I may call the specialty clinic in Akron tomorrow and see if they suggest an MRI. I will feel better with a second opinion anyway. And perhaps an opinion from a holistic vet too.
  • Darlene Hennessy

Thank you Bev for the birthday wishes. It has been a busy week! But a great one. Ethan my 9yr old son made me a cake all by himself...did a good job too!

No Bev, we avoid the beach. Scary. We stay in the mountains where it's safe. There are sharks at the beach; I've seen pictures:

Looks like Sparty and Izzy have it made! lol They have beautiful coats! :)
  • Kristin & Archie

Thanks Bev, the picture with the visor was actually taken by the breeder right before I got him. She took it for me when she was telling me about him to show me how adorable he was. THE BEST PART..... She gave me the visor!!! He has turned out to be the best addition to our family. I never realized dogs could have such personalities! I can't believe now being a corgi mama that I waited this long!!!
  • Darlene Hennessy

I am leaving you another note..the 21,22 or the 29th of Aug. I saw someone else post the 29th. We can do any of them, let me know!
  • Natalie, Lance &Tucker

Thank You for the bday wishes! :) Natalie
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thanks, Bev. I posted some new photos yesterday. They are a delight (well most of the time ; ) esp. now that Lucy has fully adopted him. She gives him all her toys and they play until they plop. They are rarely more than a few feet apart.
  • Lisa

Thanks, your babies are super cute too!!!!
  • Chili

Thank you! That totally made my day! :)
  • georgeine jo coffin

They are the MOST fun ever!
  • Carol Rea

Bev, do you know about wheelcorgi, the yahoo group? Our Lucky has IVDD and is currently on wheels, but many of the DM dogs use strollers and there has been quite a lot of talk going back and forth about the strollers and comments from people not in the know - I just cannot believe how mean people can be! We lost our Odie in March of 2006 too. Still grieving, but I know he is happily waiting over the Rainbow bridge! I love the note that was on your stroller, it is so sad that one must hang such a note.
  • Carol Rea

large footprint is right! We have few pictures of Odie, as they are on the computer that went caput! I need to take a picture of the painting my Mum had done from the Christmas picture right before his death - the artist was worried about how bad Odie looked (his head was terribly atrophied) I am not good with pictures on our site, I will get to it soon!
  • Jane Christensen

Thanks Bev! Don't know if you ever played poker but he's named Jackson after a one eyed Jack in the deck of cards!
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

Thank you so much for your birthday message!

Lily is doing great! You are right...almost impossible keep her quite!! I'm the one who is going to stay in the crate , I'm so tired =)
  • Monica, Orion, and Laika

Yeah everyone's safe, thank god! I happened to be on the other side of campus but we went into lock down for about four hours. Apparently a man wearing a suit and a ski mask ran into our library with an AK47, fired shots, then shot himself. We still don't know who he was or why he did it. The university's emergency alert system acted fast and kept everyone informed while it was all going on. I'm just glad no one other than the shooter was hurt
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

TY for the Gromit b-day greetings, Bev. Gromit seems unfazed by going from puppy to yearling. He's still into his share of Corgi mischief!
  • Amberwolf (Jenn)

My husband and I is all set to get another
corgi pup when our children move out
    on there own.
So, I plan on following in your footsteps.
I have a few years yet. Since;  my son is 13
     and my daughter is 12.
But I am planning ahead. :-)
  • Lucy & Ricky (Wendy/Jack )

We always did our dog's grooming, especially because Corgis require so little, but Jack had back surgery. It's an awful story but a cautionary tale. Everyone who brings their dogs for grooming should check out the area fully, making certain that there's a harness not a neck collar and that the dogs are NEVER left alone in the bath. I have also heard of dogs that died because they were left with a blow dryer in the crate that was too hot.
