I have three teenage kids and I just love being a Mom to a Corgi also! I live in sunny Southern California with the three kids, three dogs, two cats and a most wonderful husband.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?

About My Corgi(s):
Sidney is our first purebred corgi and we are thrilled to have him. He was born 7/11/07. We planned to start him in agility training, but there was a long waiting list. So while waiting for an opening, we took classes for therapy dog training. As it turns out, he's a pretty good therapy dog, so we stuck with that and never got around to agility. Now he is training as a Rally dog. We love it! He's one smart little character! Oh, and he's undocked, so his beautiful tail attracts a lot of attention - good attention.
On August 30th, Sidney suddenly came up lame in his hind left leg. The next day we got xrays for him and found out he has severe hip dysplasia. On Sept 7th he had a Femoral Head Ostectomy to relieve the pain. His right hip is not in great shape either but we're hoping that with glucosamine supplements and exercise we can keep it healthy. *Update* You would never know Sid has surgery now. He moves beautifully. The water therapy and supplements have worked wonders.
Bruce is our corgi/elkhound (?) mix. We rescued him from the brink of euthanasia when he was approximately 10-11 years old (he had a day or two left to go). He's about 16 now and his only sign of his advanced age are bad teeth and slow mornings. I adore Brucie and he worships me. He's my funny short angel with a puffball tail (thanks to the elkhound side). He's about 18 now and going strong.
Chester is our "tall dog". He's a black dane/lab mix that we got from a "free to good home" ad in the local newspaper. He's also old, about 15 years old. We know his age because we've had him 14 years, and he was an adult when we brought him home! He's a very serious dog and not very affectionate compared to the corgis, but he has been a very good dog, just aloof. We can't take Chester as many places as the shorties because he does not travel well. He's almost 17 now and has definitely slowed down. *UPDATE* Chester had a sudden decline and was sent to the bridge on April 15th 2013 at the age of 17.
In February 2013 we added Connie to our family. She's a little tri corgi who was picked up as a stray and put up for adoption at our local Humane Society. She's a real sweet girl and loves to play ball. She's learning a lot from Sidney about life here. We can't believe that her family never came to claim her. She's got good manners and she gets along well with the other dogs and the cats, and everyone she meets is her best friend.
And the pack grows! In November we took in a black-headed tri who we named Copper. He and Connie were both born in 2009 and they are great buddies and a ball-chasing tag team. Copper is sweet and cuddly and eager to please.
Hi Gery & Sidney!
Thanks for the welcome! We're hoping to go to the next meetup on the 23rd, but baby Stella doesn't get her last series of parvo shots until next week. If the vet gives her the green light, then we'll be there. Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Hi It is really hard to find my way around in this forum. I have two Pems brother and sister from the same litter. Coco and Dino. They are seven years old and are very smart.
Hope your able to see the image. They both like to play and are very active. No health issues or problems. They both have an German Spitz aka American Eskimo and Cocker Spaniel for best friends.
Geri and Sidney - that you for the update on Sid. I would think it would take months for the healing to take place on his leg. Good to hear he is still in good spirits. You two keep up the good work and we will check in on you from time to time to see how you are both doing.
Thanks, we, of course, think he's the most handsomest Corgi in the world. :) I'm sure fans of other breeds say the same thing but...is there such a thing as an unadorably cute Corgi? I think not! And every single one of them is a smiler. We're so glad we found this site, it's the closest we can get to having our own herd of 30-40 of the little furrballs.
Yes, I just joined the Corgi Meetup group and am hoping to make it to the meetup this month - to see all the corgis in their costumes! Thank you for your thoughts on River, she was such a sweetheart - my family and I miss her so much. We're awaiting our new addition eagerly - including my cat who still sleeps where the dog crate goes!
Hi nice to meet you. This is Tammy and Happy. Life has kept us busy so we have not been here for a long time. Are you guys healed and having fun? Sure hope so
Hi thanks for responding back. I'm pretty new to this site and Happy is my 1st corgi. It's a fun and mesmerizing world. I'm so glad you are having a good day. Keep up the great work with him. Please forgive me I dont remember where you guys are. We are in Vacaville California land of abundant sun and heat. 8-)
sounds refreshing. I love how corgis play in almost any weather. When it gets hot here I love taking Happy swimming and in the cold he is crazy enough to swim in Lake Tahoe when it snowing. Hahaha my cutie is crazy and fun. Have you had a chance to take him to the snow yet? Does he enjoy the ocean?
Thanks for the welcome. I hope Sidney continues to do well post surgery. I love his tail...I have always wanted a corgi with a tail, although I'm pretty sure the coffee table is happy that we have no tails in the house. I has to laugh when I read that you also had a corgi elkhound mix. When I was growing up my auntie had an elkhound and I had a little trouble picuting anything except a big ball of fur, but when I saw the picture, it makes perfect sense. Put legs on a corgi and you do get something that looks similar to an elkhound.
Hey guys! Heidi and I have 3 rescue Corgis...the old guy (11) is Phoenix, who is blind. Kipper is 10 and she is the smartest and funniest dog I've ever known. The youngest (4) is Joseph. I will add their picture soon. Love Sidney's pictures!
Congrats to you too!!! I was SO excited that we made it to the semi-finals and I can hardly wait for next week to find out who will be the 2011 Calendar Corgis. Good Luck to Sidney! On another note, how old is Sidney? We just got some bad X-Rays back from the Vet and are going back for more testing. They are not sure what it is but it is bone related and I am very worried. How did you find out about Sidney's problem? Ein has started limping but it is the front legs, not the back. Very strange.
(sorry for my english). To be honest, we are not sure, her legs are taller than corgies legs, and till now I only have seen two pictures of corgies with colours like Ramona´s coats. When we first adopted her we usede to call her "mexican corgi" or "mexican shepherd".
I read about Sidneys recovery, congrats for him and his parents!!!, he is gorgeous.
Thanks for the Welcome! I found this site yesterday - it's going to take a while to read thru some of these great & helpful messages!! I did add a couple pictures of Mindy. I looked thru your pictures, I love the happy looks on a Corgi's face.
Thanks for the welcome! I am so excited to find this website! Maybe the barking was a blessing! I spent most of yesterday observing my and the neighbor dogs and the barking seems to happen when they are all out. They are barking at each other. It's just in play but they are loud! The complaining neighbor works shiftwork. I guess we need to come up with a schedule of who goes outside when. Hope your baby recovers well. Our oldest chihuahua had that surgery 6 years ago and she is doing great.
Oh my, so sorry to read about Sidney's surgery, but glad he is recovering. And here I am feeling nervous about having Abby spayed in a couple of weeks...Good luck to you!
Hi there! This is Nella, formal name Nella Mills of the Hills, b/c we live in Upstate NY where there are a LOT of hills. She is 10 weeks old and smart as a whip! I am going to have to come up with new things for her to learn or else she is going to get bored and start organizing the other animals in the house to rise up against us! I really was thinking about agility for her since we have a place only a couple miles away.
I love the site! Just discovering it, Nella's breeder gave it to me.
Hi Geri + Sidney! Thank you for the warm welcome! I sorry to hear about Sidney's surgery, but relieved that he is recovering well. He's such a cutie! By the way, Sidney and Picasso share the same birthday! Picasso was born in 2005, so he's a couple years older than Sid.

Annie (Annwyn) just had a TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) done a few months ago and is recovering well. She tore her ligament...somehow.
What we do for our dogs! Well....they are family.
