No
About My Corgi(s):
Have had R & W Pembrokes my whole life, usually in pairs. Lucy, our now 5-yr old charmer, is a delight and keeps us laughing. We purposely picked a petite girl so that we could fly with her in the passenger cabin. We had our maiden voyage CA to NY (w. Lucy in the largest sized airline approved sherpa) and we all survived––esp. me, with the help of a bloody mary!

Fast forward a year and we re-homed a tri-male puppy who would have been in the pound if we didn't intervene. He had been left alone basically 24/7 in a backyard, and was all ribs and ears. He was a handful and the most difficult corgi I had ever owned. I don't know who was more upset by the decision to keep him, Jack, my husband, or Lucy. But all things happen for a reason. He's a wonderful, gentle and loyal corgi and we're all in love with him, including Lucy, (most of the time!), haha. RR turned 1 yo this month & surprised us all by becoming quite the looker. Lucy is 5. RR is twice her size, Everyone thinks that she's the puppy. Ya gotta love happy endings!!!
I have:
Pembroke

I got your messages. Which puppy was it that you saw and liked so well?
  • Nancy Geddes

Thank you for your invitation of friendship! We are thrilled to accept. I lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn for quite a while after graduating from Bennett College in Millbrook. How I miss New York. Now, we are in Williamsburg where I can indulge in my three corgis while working as a chef. Somehow, I would have enjoyed the challenge of cooking in New York (when I was much, much younger!) All the best from Nancy, Bear, Tasha and sweet Linus
  • Nancy Geddes

Dear Wendy: Bear and Tasha look astonishingly alike; however, they are not litter mates. Bear was a homebred from Suffolk (he's almost 11 and that family and I still keep in touch) and Tasha is from a kennel in Smithfield (home of the hams), VA. Linus is a Heronsway corgi from Anne Bowes in Cape Cod. He is such a softie! The majority of the photographs were taken in Hatteras, North Carolina. I take two weeks from culinary insanity in February, rent a house on Pamlico Sound (but just walking distance from the Atlantic) and the only promise I make to myself is that we will walk twice daily. The corgis love the walk and bark at the dolphins running parallel to shore. My only daughter is working on her Masters at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. We have tickets to meet Anthony Bourdain in Raleigh in November! Where is your daughter studying? All the best, Nan
  • Nancy Geddes

Well, I had to really come down hard on Kate because she wanted to be a chef. She has such an extraordinary clinical mind that I relied on other female professionals to guide her into Registered Dietitian/Food Research and Science. Thus far, it has worked. I tried to tell her that she could take cooking classes for fun anytime.

I am grateful for my friendship with Anne and the fluffy that I have from her is so totally gorgeous that he stops traffic and is frequently mistaken for a female!!!!! You wouldn't believe all the car trips to Mass. to pass her "test"! So, I send her the Virginia peanuts that she so dearly loves....and I want to drive up there so that she can see Linus again. Stay in touch!!!!! By the way, Columbia - oh, that is impressive!
  • Jane Christensen

How's Rafa...did he have his surgery????
  • Nancy Geddes

Ooops. sorry! I get going on my corgis so much that I neglect to say that Kate is my 24 year old daughter who is working on her Master's in Raleigh, NC! Corgis always seem better in pairs - being so enchanted by one, another one is usually in the offing. I am glad that Rafa has you - my heart aches for the rescues so that I wish I could give them all the goodness they deserve. Going to three corgis; however, has been a balancing act and it consumes lots of time but so worth it. I live near Colonial Williamsburg and I'll take them into town to walk down Duke of Gloucester Street. People will squeal and run towards us - either they have a corgi, they have owned one in the past or are convulsed with laughter because we appear so goofy (leashes atangle, Bear trying to roll in the 18th century streets, etc.). Corgi life is good.
  • Nancy Geddes

I have the fondest memories of my Mother watching Wimbeldon every year. My Aunt Bonnie would actually attend. In my youth, I loved tennis.
Kate is studying food research/science/nutrition. She will sit for her Registered Dietitan certifying boards in October. I told her that she could dabble in culinary classes as an adult but not take up the profession as I did. Love your observations on Rafa. They so learn from one another! I listened to Anne's stories of the sacrifices a breeder makes throughout their lives for the benefit of the breed. She has a small and lovely kennel. Linus' bitch line is more than forty years old and maybe its like living with a Frank Lloyd Wright treasure. His sweetness is almost feminine. Tomorrow is September and hopefully friendlier weather (except for the hurricane which is headed our way!). All the best, Nan
  • Jessie & Alwyn

Aww thank you! Lucy and Rafa are gorgeous, very endearing eyes! Alwyn and I are pleased to be friends with you as well!
  • Sam Tsang

Thank you Wendy for your kind words, I'm so glad you found Rafa via the site :)
  • Jessie & Alwyn

Thank you for your kind words about Alwyn, we love your Rafa and Lucy! You bring up a good point on how adorable they can be when they’re going through their puppy phase of cute disproportions - absolutely adorable. I especially love when they haven’t quite grown into their ears. I’m sure that Lucy will love Rafa in due time. They’re also siblings and she’s no longer the little one anymore, things will take time. I must admit I’ve never heard of Rafa Nadal the tennis player but I Google’d him and I can see why you’d take his name. No harm in having a little celebrity crush, even if he is younger than you! I didn’t catch if he won last night so I’m eager to hear from you how he did. No matter the color or whether they’re a cardi or pemmi, corgis are a blast to have and I’m glad we’re fortunate enough to have them. I hope all is well with you!
  • Jessie & Alwyn

Glad I could entertain you with some good music while you’re on my page. How old is Rafa now? It does take some time for those ears, I think Alwyn is almost there at 7 months but no matter how big they are I’ll always love em! Rafa seems to be like a cute bundle of rambunctiousness. I can’t say Alwyn tries to steal many of our belongings other than slippers, Tevas, socks and shoes. He sure does have a foot fetish! Although I would be a bit annoyed if he stole my Diet Coke, Ginger Ale or I couldn’t even imagine what I’d do if he stole my coffee! How cute he tries to steal a fig snack from the tree, very thrifty! Speaking of Rafa, you mention that you want a tri but Rafa is definitely one silly girl! Ha ha I get a kick out of your crush on Rafa, I think it’s awesome. Your new nickname seriously is Cougar. ;) He is a good lookin guy! I’m glad he won his match last night. I wish him best of luck in the quarter finals! My fiance and I have a joke that we each have a celebrity crush that if the situation EVER we were arise, we could cheat on each other, lol. Mine is either Jeffrey Dean Morgan or Gerard Butler. It’s a silly thing but it makes for a good laugh. Well I hope you didn't lose too much sleep from all the excitement of the match last night. Have a great night!!!
  • Jessie & Alwyn

Thank you for being so sweet by sending the corgi gift earlier today. It doesn't matter if it's tri, sable, brindle, blue merle or red I absolutely adored it and it made my day. Thank u again!
  • Jessie & Alwyn

Rafa and Lucy seem like quite the cute little pair. I'm sure Lucy is just resisting the urge to get into trouble. In no time I she'll be into mischief like he is and she'll give you the same look to say "It wasn't me, definitely Rafa!". Alwyn is wonderful, but he is also the most defiant, stubborn dog there is. It's frustrating sometimes because he knows what we've trained him to do, he just chooses not to do it. He's fantastic but that part of his personality gets frustrating. Regardless we love him dearly and would do anything for the little guy. How has your day been?
  • Jessie & Alwyn

Aww I’m so sorry you’ve had such a rough day with Rafa (although I think he had a fantastic day). It can be so frustrating knowing that they’re just growing, exploring and just being puppies but also tearing up our homes. I hope he didn’t do too much damage to your belongings. They really do wear on our patience, I honestly think that’s their prerogative. I’m knocking on wood as I type this but we’ve been extremely lucky that Alwyn somehow knows not to chew on any wires or wood in our home. He just always goes after anything involving feet (shoes, socks, Tevas, slippers, etc). I hope that by now Rafa has calmed down and you’ve had a chance to unwind after all that he had done. Alwyn’s issues are being defiant in listening to us. He knows all of the tricks that we’ve taught him but he refuses to do them. He’ll look at me and when I give him a command he’ll give me a side eye and bark extremely loud over and over again as if to say “NO I’m not going to do it” and then run around. His bark isn’t just a bark either, it’s a very loud pitched bark that hurts my ears. He won’t go for food as a treat unless it’s cheese and that’s only once in awhile. He’ll do more tricks with his toys which was discovered one random night and still I think he’s caught onto that. Sometimes he’ll just continue barking....because! He’s also big into trying to nip when we’re playing around or giving hand signals for tricks. We’re working on it though because he stops when I ‘yelp’. Those are the times when he’s a total brat and just runs my patience thin. When did Lucy finally turn around and get out of her bratty phase? I’m not sure if other breeds are as stubborn as corgis, that’s a good question. My day wasn’t anywhere near as frustrating as yours was but it was good. I was able to get a lot accomplished. I start my first day of grad school tomorrow - very anxious!
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

TY for the gift, Wendy. The helmet is much cooler looking than my real one!
  • Marion Hebert

Thank you, thank you, thank you, dog video.....It is so refreshing to get something like that......I just love dogs.....Had a chance to play with 7 baby corgis last week....it was so hard not to take one home.....
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Gromit thanks you and Lucy and Rafa, Jr. for the b-day balloons. He's getting extra tummy scratching and possibly a large carrot in honor of his big day. Pictures to follow.
  • Keli, Abbey, Buster,Bella & Kids

    Thanks for sharing!
  • Keli, Abbey, Buster,Bella & Kids

Wendy & Jack; How sweet! Rafa is a very handsome pup. Lucy is a pretty girl too. I was very fortunate to find Buster for lil Abbey as she was the runt and still the smallest of her sibs. Both are AKC and nice to know their parents history. Busters head is large but has a small muscular build. Thank you for your comments and glad we are friends. keep the photos coming so we can see how beautiful he will become as he gets older.
  • Carol Rea

Thank you for the friend request! Yes, Lucky LOVES his wheels, he was rescued from a snowbank outside of Reno on Christmas Eve. We went thru pages of names and Lucky just fit! Imagine a corgi (or any dog) dumped in a snowbank. I sure miss the days when he was rambunctious (enjoy them) he can still sit and FRAP which is pretty funny until the toys fly into breakable things like antique bowls. Sonny is just Sonny, he likes to EAT and sleep. We rescued him from a family who kept him in a back room as near as we can tell (he was 8, never trained or socialized!)
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

    >HELP. What am I doing wrong? (everything!) Your photo captions all >appear neatly below your photos. My captions show up across my >photos, making them hard to see.

Your captions look fine to me. Might want to check your browser settings and also see if there is a newer version of whatever web browser you're using.
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Ah, Wendy, we get out of our photos just what we put into them. You have a very nice little camera in the S90. Leave it out where it's handy and shoot away! I wish cell phones didn't come with cameras, those wretched little photos have probably set popular photography back by 50 years.
  • John Wolff

Hey thanks for the birthday cake. I didn't even get to taste it -- Gwynn & Al hacked into the mycorgi account, so it was gone before I even knew. I didn't have a chance...
  • Cindi

Hey, thanks for the add. And yes, we can be PAC 10 friends. :)
  • Jessie & Alwyn

WOW, thank you for all of the photo comments! That's too cute that Rafa enjoys the music on my profile page, did he bark, whine or cock his head to the side as he listened to it? I can't believe you haven't gotten him a soccer ball yet *shaking my head*. He'll really like it and give him something to have fun with and focus on rather than chewing your furniture and rugs. Sorry to hear that the obedience training didn't go through this past weekend either. I'm sure both of you will have a great time with the other Petsmart location and instructor. =) Aww I'm so proud of Rafa for listening to you when you ask him to sit and then he added his own flair by putting his paw up!! He's probably looking for a high five!
  • John Wolff

I marvel that every corgi owner does not have a Nike 500 8" Jr. Basketball and an inflating needle and an air pump. Doesn't everybody buy those necessities when they get their first dog crate? Rafa will quickly remove the annoying outer skin of his soccer ball.
URGENT: the current recommendation is actually a volleyball, or perhaps it's a water polo ball? Lightweight and lively, smooth tooth-resistant skin. Al gets under a high-kicked ball and takes it right on his snout, bouncing it up into the air like a trained seal. His record volley is 8 nose-kicks without letting it touch the ground. I worry that a soccer ball might be a bit too massive, and hurt his neck or teeth.
    Enjoy, Rafa.
  • Cindi

I know what you mean. Even though I love my "Tucker", I miss my first Corgi "Otis" so much. They are so different. DUCKS are playing USC on the 30th. I don't like USC either, so I am happy for your Win. Really unhappy about their ex coach now the Seattle Seahawks (my other fav team) coach. Not liking that at all.
  • Cindi

Yep, I totaly agree. Pete Carrol got while the getting was good. And good for Stanford and their re-building years. I am glad the Ducks have a bi week. They got pretty beat up last week.
also, your little Rafa looks a lot like my late "otis". Both Rafa and Lucy are so cute.
  • Bev Levy

I just saw how you lost Emily! So sad, and I am glad you posted it because people that have their dogs groomed need to be aware. I groom my own because Sparty would probably cause major mayhem if a stranger tried to groom him!
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

I went avant garde and submitted a fuzzy picture from my cell phone. ;-)
  • Carol Rea

How's Rafa doing? Has he gotten a ball yet? We have been remembering all Lucky's soccer balls, he sure had fun with them. We shall root for Stanford unless they are playing OSU!. Looks as if the closer groomer might be OK, she understands IVDD, etc. I am going in unannounced to see how the place is run!
  • Carol Rea

YEAH! Glad he finally had his class and did well! Do you have a Big 5? They might have a good selection of balls, or a used store - the balls never last long with a corgi!
  • Carol Rea

Tough game!!! I have thought about those balls with treats - good for Lucky, but Tank Sonny needs no treats! That dog is huge!!!!!!! (there are not enought explanation marks for his size) I keep cutting the food and he keeps eating the plants!
  • Jessie & Alwyn

I didn't hear an answer so I attempted to vote again and see what would happen. When I clicked on "Vote" it came up with a page that stated "Thank you, we've already submitted your vote" or something that extent. Therefore we can only vote once. I may be MIA until the end of the week as I'll be gone ALL day every day this week. I'll try to sneak in a comment or two when I have some down time though. Keep me posted though on what's going on with you, love hearing from ya!
  • Chelsea, Draco, and Sinatra

What a sweet pair you have! Both are adorbile! Lucy even looks like she likes having a puppy around! They are both so cute.
  • Renata M.

    Loved that video.....
  • Krystle (Luna & Twinkie!)

Naming her Luna unless she changes my mind. Thank you for your condolences on River - she is greatly missed, by even the cat!
  • Krystle (Luna & Twinkie!)

Very nice! I'm currently studying to become an MFT and am enjoying the experience.

My family seems to want a Spanish name because I myself am half-Mexican.  It's all accented speaking :)
  • Bev Levy

Wendy, Thank you for your kind comments! I enjoy reading your posts too. Especially the naughty adventures of Rafa since I am long past the puppy stage. My guys all behave pretty well now. Although Misty managed to catch the crazy possum that insists on wintering under our back deck. You would think with a Misty here he/she would go elsewhere! Bev
  • Bev Levy

I have heard others say the tri 's are more naughty. Sparty, my tri, is for sure the smartest and that did translate into a more difficult puppy. However, he does seem to learn faster and if you can figure out how to make it important enough for him he will mind very well! He certainly has the most quirks....
  • Cindi

Hey thanks. . .but I think so too :) I watched the Aurbun vs ol Miss game and Aurbun is pretty tough. It would have been cool if Masoli could have bumped them off. But it didn't happen. Glad for you team yesterday. Good win!
  • Carol Rea

I have to admit it, Lucy was very lady like and dainty drinking that beer! My boys would have knocked it over too. In fact, my crazy son put a plate of pizza on the coffee table while we were gone, Lucky peed in the morning room (he has another UTI!) and Jer ran to clean up and put him out - Sonny knocked the plate over, grabbed the pizza and tried to make a run for it! He made it under the dining table, Jer got the pizza and put him in time out! I guess the pizza went in the trash much to Sonny's upset, Lucky got to lick the carpet much to Sonny's upset again! Other than having bronchitis again, trip was OK! More later
  • Marcia & MoJo

Hello, yes, our "sweet" little MoJo has plenty of attitude. Put her in her kennel and listen to her sass. The breeder named her Sassy and it definitely fitted but we were afraid she would be too sassy. Have just had her two days, so are still learning all her quirks.
  • Marcia & MoJo

Ha. Ours is MoJo / CuJo!
  • Yuki Norton

thank you. just found this site and felt like I had to be apart of it.
  • Yuki Norton

oh thank you so very much. I'm trying to understand this networking website. its a big confusing. i can't even locate those groups you have mentioned.
  • Geri & Sidney

Hi! I was online in the wee hours of the morning, saw you were online, heehee. Yes, I have chatted with quite a group before, but don't really seem to find the time for it now. Made some pretty good friends through chat.

I'm so glad that Lucy's back problem is easily managed. One of my friends' corgis just had back surgery for a bulging disc. SCary thing!
  • Geri & Sidney

I do believe glucosamine does help. It's helping my knee too.
Our vet recommends Dasuuquin chews. Sidney loves them!
