I have three teenage kids and I just love being a Mom to a Corgi also! I live in sunny Southern California with the three kids, three dogs, two cats and a most wonderful husband.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?

About My Corgi(s):
Sidney is our first purebred corgi and we are thrilled to have him. He was born 7/11/07. We planned to start him in agility training, but there was a long waiting list. So while waiting for an opening, we took classes for therapy dog training. As it turns out, he's a pretty good therapy dog, so we stuck with that and never got around to agility. Now he is training as a Rally dog. We love it! He's one smart little character! Oh, and he's undocked, so his beautiful tail attracts a lot of attention - good attention.
On August 30th, Sidney suddenly came up lame in his hind left leg. The next day we got xrays for him and found out he has severe hip dysplasia. On Sept 7th he had a Femoral Head Ostectomy to relieve the pain. His right hip is not in great shape either but we're hoping that with glucosamine supplements and exercise we can keep it healthy. *Update* You would never know Sid has surgery now. He moves beautifully. The water therapy and supplements have worked wonders.
Bruce is our corgi/elkhound (?) mix. We rescued him from the brink of euthanasia when he was approximately 10-11 years old (he had a day or two left to go). He's about 16 now and his only sign of his advanced age are bad teeth and slow mornings. I adore Brucie and he worships me. He's my funny short angel with a puffball tail (thanks to the elkhound side). He's about 18 now and going strong.
Chester is our "tall dog". He's a black dane/lab mix that we got from a "free to good home" ad in the local newspaper. He's also old, about 15 years old. We know his age because we've had him 14 years, and he was an adult when we brought him home! He's a very serious dog and not very affectionate compared to the corgis, but he has been a very good dog, just aloof. We can't take Chester as many places as the shorties because he does not travel well. He's almost 17 now and has definitely slowed down. *UPDATE* Chester had a sudden decline and was sent to the bridge on April 15th 2013 at the age of 17.
In February 2013 we added Connie to our family. She's a little tri corgi who was picked up as a stray and put up for adoption at our local Humane Society. She's a real sweet girl and loves to play ball. She's learning a lot from Sidney about life here. We can't believe that her family never came to claim her. She's got good manners and she gets along well with the other dogs and the cats, and everyone she meets is her best friend.
And the pack grows! In November we took in a black-headed tri who we named Copper. He and Connie were both born in 2009 and they are great buddies and a ball-chasing tag team. Copper is sweet and cuddly and eager to please.
Thank you so much for informing me about Sidney. I'm pretty certain (& the Vet is too) that it is DJD. Which means it will get worse eventually. How bad and how soon we have no way of knowing. Do you know how I would find the person on here that is dealing with elbow dysplasia? The vet reckons it is in all of his bones, not just the front legs. It may turnout that his hips go first but the front legs are giving him problems now. It is so sad. I hate it that we have no way of knowing just how much pain they are in. Thank you again for your reply. Tell Sid to stay cool ; ) Ciao!
Geri--thanks so much for the welcome! I'm excited to have stumbled upon this community while looking for advice on some of Gertie's little quirks. You have beautiful dogs, btw!
how do you get the back ground? on here . And she is very we got her 1 year after my mom passed a way and she is my little mommy so loveable and caring !!
Where in San Diego do you live? I used to live in Cardiff, Encinitas, and La Costa, where I had a Montessori Preschool in my home for a few years before I moved to the Santa Cruz area. I recently moved near Santa Monica to help care for my elderly sweet father.
I would love to meet with all of you in San Diego the next time I am in the area. Your dogs are all so darling, and I love the tail. I wish my Lacey had one. Hopefully in the future, the Pembies will keep their tails.
Hi! Life out here in the desert is a unique experience! I did post a picture of my pup, I had a little trouble getting it centered and a bit of his big ear aren't fitting in the box provided for the pic! I looked at some of your dog pics they all seem like sweeties! Glad to hear the surgery went well! Thanks for the welcome!
Hi Geri, I guess I just missed you online. It would have been fun to "talk" in real time. I haven't ever found anyone there when I am, which actually isn't much. Since I never "found" anyone there, I never think to check except in a random moment. So I was pleased when I looked today and saw your message to me. I responded but you probably already left the chat. Have you ever made contact with a member in chat? Before I forget, I was so happy to read about Sidney's walking the perimeter of the park. Yay Sidney. You must be so relieved. Lucy developed a back issue a few weeks ago, but we treated it with steroids and the vet didn't think it was serious. I must remember to get glucosamine for Lucy and Rafa.
I think it shows that I'm in chat when my computers on, which is always. I've tried a few times to chat when it's someone I "know" and it's never worked. I had a corgi, Rookie, that needed back surgery when he was young, maybe 6 yrs old. I hope to never have to do that again. I was very worried about Lucy. Do you know if glucosamine actually helps?
HAHA. I've become a self-appointed ambassador to new members since I now get email notices of new members. This site is growing daily. I've also never seen so many corgis on walks, in magazines & on TV. I have mixed feeling about corgis' growing popularity.
Hi Geri, thanks for the welcome! Sidney seems like a great dog. I'm pleased to hear he is recovering well. My Pembroke, Lady had hip problems when she was with us and I know how hard it is to see them uncomfortable! Hope he is continuing to recover!
Thank you! Riverside is a nice city, lived here for the past 11 years. Vista is a nice area as well! Wow your corgi HAS a tail lol! I've never seen a PWC WITH a tail! Maple was born without one, as most are now a days (good ol'evolution lol) Just LOVE the bigs ears!
Thank you for the kind words. Shes given us so much joy. I'm glad to read that your little man is doing much better. The picture of him shaven caught me off gaurd, but happy to see hes turned the corner! Thanks for the warm reception.
Thank you for the welcome....You must be "corgied" thru and thru...I see your names on here quiet often. I am starting to love this site. Nothing like being amongst others like yourself. I am celebrating the birth of 5 beautiful new pups....just a couple of hours old!!!

You know, my dog Duke limps on his front left leg now and then.
Is that something I should be worried about?
