About My Corgi(s):
Soffie, our red and white turned 8 in December 2013. We bought her from a breeder in Dade City. We had actually picked her sister from pictures but when we got there Soffie spoke to us and the rest is history! She is our intelligent one. Sometimes she’s probably too smart for OUR own good. She has been through beginners obedience and received her CGC. We also have done a little Rally and she actually qualified to get her first Akc Title RN!

We grew together and after a year we knew we wanted another one and so we found Griffyn (our tri) in Lecanto. He was 7 in January 2014. He is our laid back clown! (But he also wants us to be sure to tell you that he’s finished beginners obedience and has his CGC too!) We brought Soffie with us to meet him when he was 6 weeks old. We wanted to be sure they would be good together. We had picked him out from pictures too and when we got there he somehow immediately knew he belonged to us!! Soffie was a little skeptical at first, but at the same time curious about all the puppies and especially Griffyn! He was relentless and didn't care how hard she tried to ignore him! He knew he was going to be part of this family. We went back a few weeks later and brought him home with us.

They have a pretty typical sister/brother relationship. She tells him what to do, he say's make me.... and she does!!! But..... every once in a while, he get's the upper hand and she gives in!!

It's fun to see the similarities in them that is the breed and the differences that is their personalities!
I have:

Teddy is doing much better, thanks. The limping is almost gone, as well as his legs slipping out from under him. The only disconcerting thing is that if I allow him to run around outside, his symptoms temporarily come back and I have to avoid activity with him for a couple of days, then he goes back to normal (whatever "normal" is, I can't tell anymore).
  • WhiteDove

Thank you for your kind words on Missing my Jacqueline. They are very comforting.
  • Edward and Gemima

Thanks!!! did you guys have a good time on your vacation in August??? Can't wait to see some pictures!!!
  • Edward and Gemima

I guess I missed what kind of injury Soffie sustained??? I hope she gets better quick!!!!

Hi guys, don't know how I missed reading about Soffie the first time, but I went back and read over what you had posted. I am so sorry to hear that she sustained this injury(that is how Ed hurt himself too, racing in the yard) and am glad she can at least go out for short walks now!!!! Are Corgis prone to this type of injury more than other breeds even if not overweight???? Anyway, know first hand how hard it is to keep them restricted and I hope the healing will happen very quickly so she can get back to all her usual activities!!! Edward got his cast off on Thursday and seems to be doing pretty well, he still seems a little sore and stiff, but no more limping or whining. I am being cautious about letting him just tear around though right now, nervous mom I guess!!! Have a great weekend!!

    Thanks for the welcome!

I'm excited to join this community. I've been observing for weeks, and since we've decided to take the plunge with a new family member, I decided to join.

Plan to put more pictures of Payton (9/06 - 9/09) and Caden, our new addition, up on my page soon!

Thank you so much for the "Corgi Smiles"! It did make me smile. You guys are wonderful!

Hello, thanks for the add! you have cute babies.
  • Bev Levy

Thanks for your nice comment! Another corgi for your crew!!
  • JH

hi haven't been on this site in a while. What happened to Soffie? We aren't sure if we can make the picnic, but will look for you if we can.
  • Jane Christensen

Oh how fun to work with flowers! I love them and that'd be a great job!
  • Alice

I was just curious if you got the Medizym-Fido you were waiting for and if so, how is it working?
  • Alice

Really? Maybe I misunderstood your statement. In this discussion in your first comment it mentioned that you were waiting for your first bottle. I must be confused.
  • Alice

Ha ha, ok, now it makes sense. It's not a problem, it's more funny than anything else because you had no idea what I was talking about and I thought I was going nuts. :)

Finn is doing ok. No major limping. He's still stiff when he gets out of the crate but is fine after a few steps.

I've been putting pumpkin in his Kong and freezing it then giving it to him when I leave for work after taking him out at lunch and he loves it. He can't be left with stuffed toys because he'll eat them and he seems to get bored with his Nylabone so this is an exciting distraction. That's all the excitement I have to tell about. :)
  • Reese

Yeah, but she's better now... but we're still not letting her play. It needs more time to heal. Thank you for asking!
  • Jane Christensen

But you still get to see all these beautiful flowers coming in and going out!!!!! I love flowers and have several flower gardens (some are more weeds) but this is a hobby and stress reliever to be out with the dogs playing in the dirt!
  • JH

sorry, couldn't make the picnic. Hopefully next time.

Thanks for you response. When you said that you kept your dogs activity restricted, exactly what did you do. I am unsure of how to keep Gunny from his usual reactions to auditory cues...like running in circles when he hears me start to open the door to the back yard, or running to the door if someone knocks. I would like to avoid going the surgical route. Dr. put him on an non steroidal anti inflamatory and started him on a glucosamoine supplement. We will go for recheck in a week. Does you dog still have any sort of a limp? How long did the recovery process take?
  • Edward and Gemima

Just a hello. We love your beach profile pic and are glad you got some swimming in over Memorial day! We are taking a trip to Jacksonville in about a week, but Ed and Gem will stay home with Auntie and Uncle...I'm sure they will be spoiled. have a great summer!!
  • Kitty Kirwin

Thank you for you kind comments. She is my little girl and I so love her.
  • Natalie, Lance &Tucker

Hello! I bought the water bottle cover with water bottle at a pet boutique store near me. How awesome if that would have been my idea and sold them, I would be rich. :) Its amazing some of the simplest things that are invented and make people rich. Like those silly rubberbands they make into shapes that is the latest craze, why didnt I think of making those either, lol...darn.
  • Sylvia & Timmy

Hi guys, long time no talk but I have some questions regarding Sofie's acl injury. I think that Timmy ruptured or injured his yesterday and I'm going to call the vet and set up an appt asap for him. I'm curious as to why you chose which way to go with her. I want to know options on surgeries or other fixes. I would like him to go back to being a ball crazy kind of guy. Maybe you could give me some material for research and I can do that before consulting. Our big problem up here is being remote. We're 250 miles from any kind of big city stuff so it makes it rough for physical therapy, etc. Other consideration is that Timmy weighs 35 pounds (he's very lean at that weight) and that seems to be a cut off point for traditional vs TPLO. I know that you went with CM and I'm optimistically wondering how you came to that choice. Perhaps that might work for him???
  • Christen & Bentley

Thanks for adding us as friends. Hope to see you at the picnic as well
  • Geri & Sidney

Haha, I thought we were already friends too! Yes, surgery is tomorrow...yikes, I am so stressed about it. Thank you for your kind words, and I will update when I hear from the vet, for sure.
  • Jessie & Alwyn

Aww thank you for your kind words and the friend add. Keep in touch! ^,,^
  • Pat Grissett

Hi, don't have any info on the Corgi picnic, where does this take place? We live in the northwest Panhandle, between Tallahassee and Pensacola.
  • Pat Grissett

p.s. Meant to tell you, your babies are BEAUTIFUL!
  • Pat Grissett

Thanks for the info.. don't know if we'll be able to make it. It seems we will be swamped with out of town visitors forever! Three sets of visitors over the next 2 1/2 months!
  • Pat Grissett

Will try and make it to the picnic.. will know more in a few days when everyone gives me a firm date on their visits! Thanks again for the info, sounds like it's great fun.

    Pat
  • Jane Christensen

Thanks for the heads up on Carbonite! Now if we could just get a back up for the shoes....
  • Jane Christensen

HI! I think I got all the signs there now:)
  • Molly & Linda

Thank you for your comments on my blog. Mum says to say that the Budweiser wasn't mine. XOXOXO - Molly
  • Biscuit, Bentley & Anni

Thank you!! Biscuit is such a goofball, I spend so much time laughing at her antics! Your corgis are beautiful, checking out their pics now.
  • WhiteDove

    Thank You. . . .
  • LaVerne & Shirley

Thank you SO much for the info and advice. I dont care much for Hills prescription food either. It took me a long time to decide on a dog food ( her regular food is Solid Gold adult maintenance ) and putting her on Hills feels almost like I am going in the wrong direction. I try to be careful what I say on the main board because that opinion has offended some.
As for the green beans, just regular frozen beans? And I can be fairly free with them? She has been struggling with her weight for a year now but since her injury it has gotten much worse. I am encouraged by your success and grateful for your time and advice. Take care and best of luck and love!
  • LaVerne & Shirley

Your pups are so beautiful! I really do wish I could have one of each color. Black headed tris are hard to find around here. The first Corgi I ever met was a black headed tri and I fell instantly in love with her. I also have a soft spot for the red and whites too. Come to think of it I havent met a Corgi I didnt like!
  • Bev Levy

Thanks so much for Izzy's Birthday wishes and our Anniversary ribbon. we are enjoying the Florida weather right now. I am sorry the picnic is so far from Sarasota! Hope you guys take pictures so I can see what I am missing...
  • Yvonne Stevens

Your dogs are so cute! Your tricolor looks a lot like our. He's our trouble maker -- so it's a good thing he's cute :-)
  • Jacki, Nutmeg & Cinnamon

Guess who will eat ONLY fresh green beans? Only my Princess Nutmeg.
  • Bev Levy

Love the picture with Santa Claus! I understand your weather is a little cold right now but it is 15 degrees here today so that should make you feel better!

  • Bev Levy

Yes I talked to my Mom-in-law this am and she is not too happy with the cold but when I told it was 8 degrees she liked her weather a lot better!

  • Carole and Sophie

Soffie and Griffyn look so cute in their profile photo with Santa!
