About My Corgi(s):
Have had R & W Pembrokes my whole life, usually in pairs. Lucy, our now 5-yr old charmer, is a delight and keeps us laughing. We purposely picked a petite girl so that we could fly with her in the passenger cabin. We had our maiden voyage CA to NY (w. Lucy in the largest sized airline approved sherpa) and we all survived––esp. me, with the help of a bloody mary!

Fast forward a year and we re-homed a tri-male puppy who would have been in the pound if we didn't intervene. He had been left alone basically 24/7 in a backyard, and was all ribs and ears. He was a handful and the most difficult corgi I had ever owned. I don't know who was more upset by the decision to keep him, Jack, my husband, or Lucy. But all things happen for a reason. He's a wonderful, gentle and loyal corgi and we're all in love with him, including Lucy, (most of the time!), haha. RR turned 1 yo this month & surprised us all by becoming quite the looker. Lucy is 5. RR is twice her size, Everyone thinks that she's the puppy. Ya gotta love happy endings!!!
I have:

Glad things are going well Wendy...we are keeping our fingers and paws crossed that things continue to improve...that's a lot of paw crossing at our house:)

Wendy...don't ever think we don't all have our days...like tonight i walked into my closet and found one of my best(and most expensive) shoe hanging by a thread where a strap used to be....hmmm...don't even know who:( and then there's the barking I don't know if it's the high winds but my dogs are just nuts tonight!!!!! Maybe they want spring as bad as I do!!!!!

I'm so glad that things have worked out for you.  Ricky is a very lucky boy! :)
  • Courtney and Zoe

Thank you! That video of your two playing is too cute!  They are both very good looking corgis!

That's awesome! I haven't yet started the program.  I'm still waiting to see where I get accepted.  Any advice for a newbie?  I haven't decided in what capacity I'd like to begin, but eventually I'd like to get my LCSW certification and counsel.  What area do you work in?

  • Jayme Griffin

Thank you! I'm glad to be here and I hope I can find a Corgi to join our family =o)

    Jack & Wendy,

I finally got on the mobile version of this app... I don't go online that much at home, and mycorgi is blocked where I work.  Check out http://www.pwccsc.org/events.html and scroll to the bottom for info on the fun day. Hope to see you there!

Al's VariKennel Intermediate is 32x22 and seems generously sized, but Lori says you want room for Rafa to lie full-length whilst pondering the destruction of your furniture. He's maybe 25# or more??
Gwynn's is Medium 27x20 and she lies crosswise way in the back. She's quite smaller.
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

We'll be expecting top quality birthday photos of the little terrorist!
  • John Wolff

Put ads on Craigslist. You might be surprised.
  • John Wolff

Gwynnie (smaller) is fine in her Medium 27 x 20.

Al (bigger) is fine in his Intermediate 32 x 22.

I do not know how much Al weighs, but I'd guess at least 25 lbs.  I may know for sure within a few weeks; we may go to the vet for shots.

I'd think a corgi would have to be awfully big to need a 36" VariKennel, but ask around -- there ought to be threads on this site, search for it?  If RikiRafa keeps eating your furniture, he's gonna be a big dog, but even Al's crate is large enough to be awkward for travel. You don't want it too big.

BTW, our crates almost always have the doors open.

I think a crate is supposed to be big enough for the dog to lie full-length?  But I don't know!

hey Jack & Wendy, I just realized that we are just a short drive away from each other. If you ever have reason for a road trip to San Diego, let me know if you wnat to pups to have a meet-up!

  • Shanna Stovall

We haven't got the walking down pat just yet, but we are trying vey hard. It is a big mess right now. Three weenie dogs and one corgi what a mess! good thing I live way out in the country.
  • Gail and Ashton

That video of the poodles is hilarious! I love how the two totally ratted out their cohort! Thanks for sharing!! <3
  • Maple (owners Alicia n Orlando)

Aww thank u! I actually picked her up from a breeder in Nevada during a road trip to Yellowstone. She was a nice ending to our trip!
  • Sue Taylor

Welcome Lucy....You are very cute. Callie is just a year old too. Tri- Corgis seem to becoming more popular.
  • Miranda & Syxx

Thank you. I'm studying at Full Sail University.
  • Miranda & Syxx

Thanks and good luck to your daughter as well.
  • Jennifer

The Gork!! That's fantastic! I remember the time Corki was just resting on the couch and decided to roll over, only to find himself on the floor. It was hilarious! Your corgis are adorable - I love the sleepy pictures :)
  • Jane Christensen

Thank you for the cake Wendy! I've had a great 2 days of celebrating! I suppose I have to get back to normal again but I did warn my hubby that this is my birthday month, don't think he agreed!
  • Jane Christensen

When did you change you picture to the grown up Ricky and Lucy? It's very cute!
  • Jane Christensen

Wendy...I am glad my birthday isn't on April Fool's Day but my neice's is and we celebrated together this year (she's only 3 years younger than me)...we had 2 days of FUN!!!!!!
  • Jane Christensen

    NO...it really is April 2nd:)
  • Jane Christensen

Wendy....I really do like the new pic! They look sooooo adorable and sweet:) I understand why you would want to wait and I am glad that Ricky has his furever home with you:) The worst is over (one can hope)...can you imagine someone getting a corgi like Ricky and having no clue what to do??? At least you were used to the breed and had lots of support!
  • John Wolff

RafaRiki looks adorable with Lucy -- and almost guilt-free -- maybe you can get Doug to superimpose him on some scenes of tsunami destruction -- now that he's lost the black on his forehead, his face looks just like Al's.
  • Brent & Marilyn

That was my mother who didn't know how to invite a friend lol.
  • Jocelyn Benzaia

I'll try to post some pictures soon. Are you a tri fan?
  • Sharon C Johnson

Thank you for the nice compliment, Lucy.
  • Sharon C Johnson

Your Pemmies are very cute as well. I have a question for you. Teegan is our first Corgi so I am learning. Is it common for Corgis Pems or Cardis to burp after eating and drinking? Teegan can belch like a beer drinker. She is only 4 months old so perhaps it is something she will outgrow?

Thank you, Wendy!  I agree, all corgi's we meet have a familiarity about them and it's so exciting to see them out because there aren't too many of us corgi parents in one spot.

Ricky and Lucy are both adorable and so sweet looking!  I love all the pics of Lucy...she has similar moves and looks that Bailey has!

You're so lucky you got to fly with Lucy in the cabin with you.  When Bailey and I moved here to Washington I had to put her in the cargo area and I was a wreck for a couple months before our trip.  I thought our vet was going to have to prescribe me a sedative too.  (Bailey is a big girl...not heavy wise, just a big corgi...she usually gets mistaken for a boy)

But she did great on the flight and I was so happy we both made it in one piece.  And she loves it here, although I don't think she actually knows we moved to a different state!

Bailey is the same as Lucy then, stand offish with other dogs...she'll give a mutual sniff and that's about it.  She's great if the other dog just wants to hang out and leave her alone.  She loves kids and people.

My parents got her for me from a CA breeder and she does have her papers.  She was born near Apple Valley, if I recall correctly.  My Mom says Bailey looks like her dad.

How long have you had Ricky now?  Lucy gets along with him?

  • LoveDK

Thank you Lucy!!  Yes they grow up so fast!  I got his name tag at Petsmart here in CA from one of those machines that laser etch the information on the tags.  Corgiville Fair was a gift from one of Donuts aunties but its awesome that you all love it too!! =) I love all the pics for your Corgis!
  • Lily Mansfield

Thank you for the welcome!  Our Tucker is a rescue pup, so we don't know the exact age. We suspect he is about eight or nine years old.
  • Lily Mansfield

Tucker's name is inspired by a silly movie. In the film Mystery Men, there was a van called the Herkimer Battlejitney. It was short and squat--much like our lovable guy. ;)
  • ♥Deborah

Hi Wendy! It's great to meet you! I sent a friend request your way so we can get to know one another better. I love your little Lucy ~ she has the cutest bootie! :) That's what I tell my Hanna all the time...LOL
  • ♥Deborah

I woiuld love to have more than one Corgi in the house ~ it's got to be loads of fun! Hanna is our 3rd Corgi; we had Scotty when I was very young, then Eddie (who was my best friend for 10 years) just passed in 2009, and now Hanna ~ the love of my life! I don't know how other folks can survive without a Corgi in the house, do you? LOL
  • Gromit, Sparkle, and Doug

Wendy, Night is about 28lbs and Gromit is 32lbs and noticeably longer.  We sometimes call Gromit the "Corgisaurus."
  • Jose-Omar Romero

Thanks for the great welcome, I now at least have a profile pic which has both dogs in the photo.  Seren is on the left and Starfox is near my arm.  My girlfriend loved this pic as it shows he and I are making the same face, lol.
  • Happy Ball Yuen

Thank you Lucy.  Nice to meet you here.  We take photos & vedios a lot now.  Cos we missed a lot of memories with my other 2 Yorkies, Vivi & Jojo, mother & daughter.  They passed away when they were 15.5 years old, 2006 & 2008.

  • Happy Ball Yuen

    Ooops............Nice to meet all of you  ^ V ^

  • ♥Deborah

I'll be joining your group in just a moment....Thanks for the head's up! :)
  • Mary

Yes all corgis should be spoiled, Elvis believes he is human!
  • Wendt Worth Corgi's

Thank you....they have bigger issues sharing the ball when they run after it in the yard. LOL

It was very sad to hear about Marker Boy...the same day a few hrs later Tilby was born. He resembles Marker Boy a lot!
