I live in the country and love animals so I have a variety of dogs(2 of my own corgis, Wynn and daughter Sage)2 rescues,a corgi mix and an Aussie) cats and free range chickens. I am lucky because I get to work close to my home and my dog(s) get to come with me...My husband and I have grown children and several beautiful grandchildren who love to visit and play with the animals. My love for Corgis started when I went to pick a female Corgi and Wynn picked me... he proceeded to walk up to me, lay his tiny little head on my foot and fall asleep.Wynn still parades around my house with one of my shoes and I always have to "look" for my shoe before I can leave...I did a Corgi rescue April (08) I felt like I wanted to help other Corgis...wow what an experience and I learned a lot. I also do corgi rescue when needed..Jackson now lives with Jennifer Markley. Calvin my Cardigan rescue lives with Joanna and Rainy my own Pembroke was rehomed and lives with Joanna's parents where she can be the "princess" and have her own people!
I have 4 Corgis.Wynn is my male Corgi that started this obsession with Corgis and he is now 9. Wynn's daughter Sage is 3 and a Therapy Inc.dog that often travels with me.Wiley my rescue is also about 8. Teddy my other rescue is about 11. Armani is my Aussie who thinks and acts like a corgi! Tank is a 4 year old Corgi mix. We decided to adopt him instead of another Corgi because he had already been in 3 homes at 1 year of age. He can run for hours in our groves and wear off his energy and is such a sweet boy. 1/2.
Since she is over a year old, I was thinking about switching her to adult fomula or do you think she should still stay in puppy large formula. With the adult formula would she need large breed formula?
he weighs about 16 lbs .. he is about 8 inches high and about 14 inches long in the torso.. hes a hard guy to stay still and measure.. he is only 6months old though .. so i dunno.. either way he def. is a cute puppy.. thanks!
No the sheep are not ours. We took Jake to a farm close by where they teach sheep hearding. He went for about 4 lessons and was doing really well. The only problem was, he kept eating the sheep poop and then he would be sick on the way home. So we stopped going. I guess all dogs do that (so they tell me) but I didn't want him to continue doing it. I don't think it's good for him. We put him in agility instead. He did really well with that too. I really want to try flyball. I think he would be excellent at that but unfortunately there is no flyball club anywhere near us. Darn!!
Wouldn't it be nice to live in a dog friendly neighbourhood where everything you could ever want for your dog would be easily accessible and you wouldn't need to drive anywhere to get to anything? If I were a billionaire (millionaire just wouldn't be enough), I would develop such a place for dog lovers and their dogs. Maybe call it Heaven Can Wait or something like that.
So many corgis! A multitude of nibblable (totally a word!) ears! And everyone of the have sweet, kissable faces. I'm envious and more than a little in awe. It must take you all day to click all those nails, lol.
Jane, Have a problem Tenby has a very bad eye infection both eyes. Came up over night and can not get him into Vet until morning He is itching and making them bleed, I was wondering if Benydryl would be OK and how much. He is about 35 lbs. Thanks for the help.
I guess we are just so worried because he is limping very badly also. That means he could just have twisted something or the shoulder is finally failing completely. Xrays will be taken in the morning. We have told ourselves when that happens we will not let him suffer..........so we are worried crazy parents. Then that crazy tri gets an eye infection on top of all this.
Hi Jane, The mud after that trip to the dog park was really something! Sparty and Misty were a mess but my princess, Izzy, doesn't know she is a dog and stayed with us the whole time so didn't get muddy. She only allows one sniff per dog and then gets snarky. Also there are no couches at dog parks which she can not understand!
We'll, it's been a year since we took that trip out to you to bring Calvin home. He had turned into such a happy, lovey little guy. I think you would be proud of him! He loves to play with his toys and now feels that every bowl is his, especially ones with blueberries in them. Art and I love him so much - we just couldn't imagine the house, or life, without him. THANK YOU!! Hugs to Sage and the gang! Oh yeah...we were asking Calvin about his friends...we got a response from him when we said Sage and Wynn's names. :)
I particularly like her black eyeliner. She is a great dog. I taught her a bunch of tricks and my other dog could care less. My husband taught her a good trick, "EAT".
I'm a little late of congratulating you on pic of the day. I JUST saw it! Love the photo. You had posted that a 1 yr old Corgi was up for adoption a little while ago. Did he get adopted or is he still available?
Thanks again for your donation! Please stay in touch for those contacting you for corgis--we can definitely help out with that. :) I'll be drawing one (or all) of your pups soon, once things calm down this week. Can't wait!
@ Jane - hahaha. LMAO, and my first laugh all week. You don't want to know how I've been but I'm hoping that things are looking up. we need to catch up! How the hell are you? Hope you had a better week than me! wouldn't take much. but, i think it's uphill now. ; ) Miss you, my friend!
The more the merrier!!! Happy household there. My Llasa brother is only 9 months old and he can be very annoying, always picking on me!! I guess I was too used to being an only child.
Hi Jane, sorry I forget to check my page sometimes so just saw your comment! I think Franklin is getting the prairie food? I can't remember but I know it is one of the 32% protein ones so either the prairie or the wetlands formula. I had him on the salmon one for a while, then saw it only had 24% protein and we had done a urinalysis on him and he had crystals in his urine and the vet said it may be better to feed higher protein. I switched to higher proteins and the crystals are gone. Whether it was by coincidence or what, I have decided to stick with the higher protein formulas! I COULD NOT believe Frank lost 4 pounds in 2 months though. I was shocked and felt like I was starving him!
Yes, I love corgis with tails. Yewbee had one that would gently wave like a little flag when she came prancing back to me from a potty run in the backyard. When she turned her back to me, as a sign that she wanted me to scratch her rump, it would gently "slap" me in the face when I bent down close. She was such a happy dog - a real "tail wagging" dog. That's why I want one with a tail - so that I can see, among other ways, when it's happy.
Hi Jane, I haven't used the satin balls myself but there should be lots of recipes online. I think basically it's just a very high calorie home made food that the dogs find irresistible. I think you can feed it long term along with kibble but I haven't looked into it that closely to be honest.
OK. Let's toast to great friendship and fine wine. We'll sip so many glasses, someday soon, that our corgis will have to herd us back to our rooms, before we fall off our bar stools.
Here is a pic from yesterday. Lances free time out of the kitchen. I wish he wasn't such a nervous nelly, I really would love to try the thundershirt with him this week, but unfortunately don't want to spend the money on it, but maybe I really should. She cries, he barks. We went to the store this morning to get a booster seat for the kitchen table, come home ate lunch and now she is napping. Yay, a nap!! :) Lance is enjoying his free time, out of the kitchen resting, him and Tucker are both resting right now. Tucker is so calm and is handling it ok, although I do want to watch him, since I don't really know for sure. I don't want her to startle him or something. So far so good!!
Tucker just seems to be a calm dog. Lance doesn't seem to like fast movement or certain noises, startle him, like some my niece made tonight when I had him on the leash near me. I do feel bad for him. I wish I could take her for a stroller ride and take him on a walk, but I don't think that would work real well, at least not me by myself. This is a busy busy week, full of activities. My niece threw the ball over the gate for Lance to fetch but then cried when he got it, lol. I had him drop him and gave it back, and the cycle continued...until I said all done!!
My daughter noticed on Lances leg tonight that he has something that maybe looks like a hot spot, ugh. Seriously, I am taking a big breathe right now, and telling myself it could be worse...and hopefully doesn't get to that point...it needs to start getting better. Tucker goes for his yearly check up on Saturday. We were hoping to make it 4 weeks this time before having to see the vet again for Lance. It looks like I will be calling the vet tommorrow at nap time and hopefully get some advice over the phone and not have to bring him in again. Thank You so much for replying to all my posts. I feel like I am starting to sound like a broken record, posting way too often, hence the title of my last post, Its me again, even I am getting tired of hearing myself write...or would that be seeing my self talk...lol :) Sigh, but thanks so much for reading and responding. Off to bed, its late!!!
