Our family is a ranching family in south central MT, our Corgis are cowdogs!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
Yes
About My Corgi(s):
We currently have 4, 2 males and 2 females. All 4 are working cowdogs,they help run cows up the chute (can share pics of that) and get those bovines loaded up in trucks and trailers.
Coincidentally, my first Corgi, a rescue was named Corky. I had already fallen in love with the breed because I thought they were so gawky. I decided I'd name my first Corgi, Gorki, in honor of being so very gawky. Imagine my surprise when my rescue was named Corky. I wouldn't have changed his name, as he was already a year old...but changing Corki to Gorki was nothing. I will post a photo or two of Gorki when I can. He was amazing.
I have a neat story behind my avatar. I use soaker hoses in our garden so in the fall when the garden is done I roll them up and store them for the winter. I rolled some up and left them in the yard for me to pick them up later. I looked out the window and there was Joey, sitting inside the coil. I thought "how cute!" and ran to get the camera and when I got back I watched Katie join him in the loop. One of my best pics ever...it's slightly fuzzy because I took the pic through the screen and didn't want to go outside and disturb them...Hmmmm I wonder what they were visiting about, sitting there together looking out at the garden...:) :) :)
LOL. I always feel like a Lucy or Ethel anyway. Nothing to be sorry about. I thought it was very funny! I love that I had The Gork and you had The Dork. That must make us family. xoxo Wendy (human, so to speak) and Lucy
Hi Kathy, I've enjoyed so much the videos you and Scott have posted. Herding competitions are one thing but seeing Corgis herd in the real world is just huge fun for us city Corgi owners. Thanks so much for taking the time to gather, edit, and post the videos.
It was wonderful to see Joey and the gang at work. He's amazing! He does most of the work while the others make all the noise. haha. I love the way he keeps looking to either you or your husband for his next command. He loves his work. Nothing makes a Corgi happier than a job and purpose. Thanks for sharing your videos and thanks to Doug and Gromit for their help. It's motivating me to get Lucy into herding classes.
Well done Wileys!
Hey Cowgirl. Thanks for sharing your wonderful video with us. It's an amazing life that you & your Corgis share. What a wonderful companion your daughter has in Bevy. Well done! You make us all proud.
Is that some kind of special pommel on Mandy's saddle? It looks like Bevy's hindfeet are in sort of a cup while Mandy's holding her. No clue, I'm just a city boy.
A more serious question: how do your dogs handle the summer heat? Doesn't look like much shade out there. There's isn't much shade out here, either, above timberline, and the dogs just wilt in the summer sun (lucky we get only 2 months of it). Those black backs get hot! I often find some mountain snow and pack them into a pupsicle. I bought this ridiculous "ChillyBuddy" cooling vest, haven't tried it yet:
