I have a 12yr old male tri -Wrangler and a 5 yr old tri-Nicky. and a new female puppy gracie, she will be 2 on May 14. And one we miss our Ginny who is over the Rainbow Bridge.
Thanks for the MyCorgi Welcome. I did not know that there was a comment wall so I almost missed your message. The Wisconsin Corgi Picnic was July 23 at a dog park that was between Jefferson & Johnson Creek. That was a 4 hour drive for us because we live in Champaign, IL. It was worth the drive. The dogs had a blast! If you go to the Cheesehead Corgis page, you can look at the pictures from the picnic. That is where I found the flyer about the picnic and why I decided to join MyCorgi. If you are interested in a picnic, the Illinois Corgis are discussing putting one together for September. Check it out. They are thinking about having it in Freeport which is about 2 1/2 hours for you. Not bad. I hope the plans get finalized and perhaps we can meet there.
I got Wynne in June 2009 when she was 11 weeks old. She was my first Corgi. Will joined us in October 2009. He was already 2 years old. His owner died of cancer and he needed a new home. Before that I had German Shepherd mixes from the humane society. They were wonderful, but I wanted to go with a smaller dog. When my 14 1/2 year old Shepherd had problems getting up I was not much help. So I wanted a dog I could lift on my own.
I looked at your pictures earlier and assumed the cute girl was you. Now I realize from your comment that the girl is your daughter. Is she at U of I? You must be closer to my age. I'm 54.
Have you been with MyCorgi long? I am curious who in the Freeport area could take on the picnic project and I don't really know anyone in the group. I think I read something about last year's picnic didn't happen because the woman organizing it was sick... Is that right? Someone that lives near that area needs to be in charge, but who?
I can't be much help here in Champaign. I can throw out ideas, but that is about all. Frankly, if the weather is bad that day I won't drive 3 1/2 hours to sit in the rain.
I am willing to drive if the weather is good. If we can get some people interested, then it gets easier to do it as an annual event since you just repeat what worked.
Thanks for sending the friend thing. This is my first experience on any kind of blog. I always said I would not join a group because who has the time. So, I am confused about all the things to check and I almost missed your message. I actually had 3 people I found out that tried to contact me. I'll get it!
I joined MyCorgi because I went to that Wisconsin picnic and wanted to share the pictures with the other people there.
Last night I wrote a message directly to Mike & Lisa who I found were in charge of the 2009 Illinois Corgi Picnic. I asked them if they would be in charge of it this year. No answer yet, but my fingers are crossed. I can not volunteer myself because I live too far from the location. No one would want to drive to Champaign and our dog park is not that great.
Yes we did get Duchess from Sandy. Your Gracie and our Duchess must be related then! Can you send me a picture of Gracie? I know you have 4 corgies. Which one is she? This is too cool. Thanks for letting me know! Hope you are doing well! : )
Do you know Gracie's parents' names? I'm trying to figure out how she's related to our Duchess. Duchess's dad's name is Gambler and I can't remember her mom's name it started with a B. : )
Hi Rebecca! It looks like the pool is pretty shallow, however if this will be the first time your dog is swimming you can certainly bring one if it makes you more comfortable. I'll probably bring one for Charlie just in case!
Yes we feed our corgis the RedMoon dog food. They love it. I just pick different supplement from time to time. They both get little less than 1 cup a day.
Thanks so much for your concern! She's good now. She spent all of Sun at the ER and I brought her home Mon morning, took the day off to spend w/ her. They said she ate something toxic to her system. We were at a BBQ party the night before and she was licking stuff off the floor throughout the night (lesson learned: be a stricter, more watchful mommy!). They hooked her up for a fluid flush and that did the trick. We were lucky this time so I'm doing whatever I can to prevent it from happening again.
Jeter sheds a lot less but Cappy is still shedding. She had other brands until she became 8 months. RedMoon is high protein food and I didn't feel comfortable feeding her that while she was a puppy.
I think genes and exercise have something to do with shedding along with the food.
Anyway their stools are solid and less stinky, skin and coat look great, and most of all they love this food. We are very satisfied.
Rob Trudeau. He is on site. I don't think he goes here much, though. He's on F/B and checks and posts regularly. I believe she is still missing. People are cruel. You can also locate him by searching 'corgi stolen grand blanc' (this might be repeat) I did reply, but I think it might have posted back to my wall.
Glad the infection is getting better, awww, Wrangler keep trying, way to go. Lance seems to be doing ok, still slowly weaning him off the meds. Have to schedule his recheck for the end of this month. He is enjoying the cooler weather, I just let him in from the backyard, he was laying on the stoop for quite a while, when he barked, he surprised me, I forgot he was out there, lol.
Thanks for finding out the name of Gracie's parents. Duchess has different parents, but it's cool that we got them from the same breeder. What are the odds of that? Maybe they are cousins? Sorry if you were having trouble commenting on my wall. I fixed my privacy settings now. Hope you are doing well!!! : )
I have a Canon A590 which I paid $100 for used. It's a crappy camera by today's standards, but has some advantages for backcountry users: AA batteries (it's a battery eater), has a viewfinder (I cannot see the viewscreen without reading glasses or in bright outdoor light), 4x zoom, Image Stabilization, I can afford to drop it off a cliff. I cannot afford either the price, the bulk, or the weight of a really good camera.
A good musician can make a poor instrument sound good; a poor carpenter blames his tools. You'll do better with a poor camera you understand well than with a good camera you understand poorly. I learned 4 new things about the A590 on this last trip.
For actions photos (see shepdog's), you'd need a better camera with a faster lens and processor. You'll notice that all of mine are posed, still shots.
Yes, it was a nice time, always nice to get away and relax a bit!! Thank You, yes hopefully all will be ok. My sister in laws grandma, it is going to take some time, hopefully all will turn out well.
Trinity Healed beautifully. She has a little scar. Thank god for good supplements, good food to make a healthy body. We had no doubt she would be champ with dealing with the cone and healing. Its now the mental healing which is what I'm fearing, this will be a long journey but I think she will do well in this too. I'm gonna have her speak to an animal communicator to see if it will help me understand what I should be working on.
I wanted to say thank u for your wonderful comments:') that was so sweet and it really touched my heart. I got the urn from caring hearts here in Arkansas. I can get u the info from them on how to order the urn if you would like?
Thanks for the Christmas wishes......Merry Christmas to you and your family, corgis and human. Definately wishing for a healthy new year!! Hoping your New Year will be a healthy one too.
Actually the entire state is flooded with wonderful riding areas..A majority being in the south central area and the south eastern area.. You would love it.
Thank you so much! We got clutch from a breeder in Decatur Illinois. I am drawing a blank as to the couples names but they also have show horses too. We were actually able to pick clutch up at a horse show closer toward chicago so we had a shorter drive bringing him home. Where did you get your pup from?
Avery is super sweet - a great first corgi! I used to go for trail rides in the mountains in my home state of WA. It's probably one of my favorite places to ride!
What kind of training are you looking for? Most of the trainers I know in this area are dressage trainers, so I'm not familiar with the trainers of other disciplines (though I know there are many here!). I have a friend who has a Rocky - I might be able to find out where she works/trains.
We adopted Lilo from Lost Arrow Ranch in Marseilles, Il. The breeder was very easy to work with and Lilo has the most easiest going attitude ever. She still has her Corgi moments, but not as bad as our last little guy. Last I looked, this breeder still had one puppy left from her last litter.
Rebecca, CorgiAid had carts to loan! Our Lucky has one and it has been a lifesaver as he is on it fulltime now. He was able to walk for a couple years post surgery for IVDD, I guess that is unusual. Lucky's disc did "blow", he was totally paralyzed when the neighbor found him, called me at work and suggested having him put down - not on her life! Moving on, you may want to join the yahoo group wheelcorgis. It has been a lifesaver for us, that is where I spend most of my "corgi time" as these people know so much. This is terribly disjointed, sorry about that, I need my coffee (it is 4 AM and I was awakened by my able bodied corgi) Bobbie, the woman who runs the corgiaid cart program is also the moderator of wheelcorgis, she is great and knows so much about IVDD having had IVDD corgis herself. Good luck to you. Carol, Lucky and Sonny
