Welcome Joyce! I'm very sorry about Winston.

  • Michelle

Welcome to mycorgi.  I am so sorry for you lose.  It is so difficult when we loose our furbabies.  Know that Winston is frapping and happy again!

We lost our our female, AJ,  in February of this year.  We have her son, Junior, that had never been seperated from her and he was inconsolable.  After aprox 3.5 weeks of howling and pacing we contacted the breeder that we had gotten AJ from.  She had a 3 year old female that she offered us.  Junior was over the moon, I was still grieving so a little stand offish, and my husband gained an official lap dog.  We have since come to an understanding. Like all animals at our house......She is now totally rotten!  ^..^

    Hi Joyce,

I am so sorry for your loss as well. It is so hard to lose are furry friends.
  • Linda Masters

Your Winston looks so much like my remaining corgi Jake.
I know how you feel. Annie has been gone for a month and I still cry almost daily. Her passing was so unexpected which made it much harder.

We are adopting another corgi. His name is Griffin and he is a six year old sable that had been abused. I pray my Jake gets along with him.

    My thoughts are with you.
  • Laura and Tommy Jefferson

Hi Joyce! I have family in TN ... Very nice to meet you! And so sorry for the loss of your little buddy.
To answer your question, Tommy eats the Blue Buffalo Basics Sensitive Solution Formula in turkey and potato or salmon and potato. We have been very happy with the brand overall!
  • Michelle

We have had luck with Missy fitting in well.  When introducing a new dog to the "pack" it is better to introduce them on neutral gound.  For us, we took our RV to the Tallahasse Dog show and intorduced Junior and Missy.  Our male is very "social" almost to the point of overbearing with other dogs.....He LOVES them.  This neutral ground allowed them to be on more equal footing.

You can look at rescue groups by going to your search engine and checking out Tennessee Corgi Rescue or the Pembrooke Welsh Corgi Association web site.  It is so unfortunate but it seems that there are more corgis in rescue these days....:(

I can offer additional hints related to introducing at home when you get to the point that you feel like you might like to move forward.

    Good Luck.....

I do have pictures of both annie and jake on facebook. My husband wanted to try to find a corgi that looks like Annie (she was a black headed tri) but I think that would be too painful.

Griffin (the rescue we are looking at) is a cute little sable.
Best of luck to you. Please keep in touch, it always helps to talk to someone going through the same thing. My husband doesnt understand why I still cry over annie
  • Roger/Laurie

Sorry to hear about your loss.  These corgi's sure do make our lives better. With Tenby we have to have a blood test every 6 months because of a pain medication he is on.  So we know his blood sugars are good on a regular basis.  I love the  picture of Winston in the dishwasher, that is Chepstow's favorite place.  Also welcome to MyCorgi, it is a wonder place for all of us corgi lovers

  • Linda Masters

I picked up Gryffin(i was spelling his name wrong) tonight and they are getting along just wonderful. I was really nervous that there would be some aggresion on Jakes part due to this is his house..but nothing yet.
I can't picture my life without corgis! I know someday you will have another corgi not to replace Winston because you never can but just another one to fall in love with.
  • Linda Masters

Nothing you said sounds pathetic at all. I still cry for Annie every day. She had tummy troubles off and on all her life, nothing that didnt clear up after a day or two. In April I had to put my 16 year old cocker mix down as his kidneys failed. Annie started throwing up in July and the vet just put her on antibiotics as usual but she didnt get better and then she stopped eating. Lab work indicated pancreatitis but she continued to decline and then she couldnt hold water down. She was at the vet everyother day for 6 days the end of July. They ran some barium down her and showed she had a blockage. They took her into surgery to clear it and found she was full of cancer. I had them euthanize her on the table while she was out anyway. I have so much guilt that I didnt get to say goodbye and I wasnt there in her lsst minutes. We had her cremated and I have her ashes on my dresser (now that sounds pathetic!) Jake and Gryffin are still doing well together this morning but I know I will always miss my Annie girl.
  • Linda Masters

I think we are both in the same place with Winston and Annie because they weren't sick for a long time and we expected them to get better and they both passed so suddenly. It is so hard to come to terms with that.

I am loving little Gryffin because I know he has had a pretty miserable life so far and want him to be a happy adjusted little dog..as they all should be. I would much rather have my Annie here but I think God sent little Gryffin my way for a reason. I stll miss seeing my little Annie running to greet me at the door each day. I will always love and miss her. She was my first corgi after all.

I pray for you heart and hope you can start to heal..but I know how you feel. You will always have Winston in your heart and you know he knew he was loved.

Joyce thank you for the kind words of Annie's pictures. I thought about her today on my way home from work and cried again. I miss kissing her sweet little face. How are you doing?
  • Lois B. Allen

Hi Joyce,  I am so sorry that you have lost your Winston. I have had many dogs but my first PEM was my most precious baby. I really feel for you as I think corgis are special little dog-persons.

I lost my little Sandy and an older cardi that I had within 6 weeks toward the end of 2010 and they were the only 2 that I had since down sizing. It was the first time in 40 years or so that I didn't have an animal in the house.  The silence was overwhelming.  I was lost and called a woman I know who I used to work with who breeds PEMS and ask if she had any puppies and she said no but she was planning to breed in about a month.  Then she called back later on and said that she was going to have an unplanned litter.  One of her best males was living in her house and he smelled a bitch in season and proceeded to work his way to her.  He chewed off aluminum ties on chain length fences (about 4), went under them and I'm not sure about the one gate but he got to her.  Linda didn't think they had bred but they had, so I was able to get one of those puppies, who is Randy my fluffy.  I grew up in KY but am not familiar with TN as just drive through TN to get to KY or OH.  I don't know if your are ready for a new corgi but since BHM isn't too far from TN, it wouldn't be too terribly far to drive.  Linda (Muglach, pronounced Mug-klak) breeds under the kennel name of LIN-KEL but she has a partner ship with Nanteos PWC and if you want to see her dogs, go to www.nanteos.net.  I do know that they meet all of the health standards and are growing in prestige in the regional show ring.

I don't feel is it untrue to the ones you have loved to go ahead and get a new one but it seems hard, I know.  My best to you and your husband.

    Lois

  • Lois B. Allen

Correction in Linda's name pronunciation. - It would be Mu-klak.

  • Linda Masters

How exciting that your daughter is getting married!

I am looking at your pictures of Winston and he looks so much like Jake in so many of the pictures!

It will be exciting for you to get another little corgi to fill your heart with love. Please keep me posted.

Gryffin is going to be 8 Sept 30th and Jake will be 9 Sept 26th.  So they are technically both seniors..  They are still getting along great.  Gryffin is settling in quite well here.  I have been feeling guilty about getting him so soon after Annie passed.  I know this sounds strange but I feel like it was disrespectful to Annie.   I will see if my husband can get some pictures of Gryffin with his camera as I havent gotten a good one on my phone.

  • Lois B. Allen

Joyce, I think most people on mycorgi are like us the animals home the homes and allow the people to work and provide for them.  Almost everyone I know who is really an animal lover seems like that and really suffer when they lose one.

    Lois

  • Roger/Laurie

    Hi Joyce,

,Hope you saw my answer on the RVing Corgis page.  Just realized I should have replied here.  Hope you are doing well!

  • Roger/Laurie

The boys can't wait to meet your new little boy or girl.  Your area and park look so ncie I wish we could come before we leave for Florida.  But I am a photographer and the fall is my busy art show time.

We found Tenby on the internet.  His owner (yes, a corgi breeder) had been told that 3 of her dogs were being taken by a rescue group because of neglect. We drove 8 hours to the back woods of Georgia and then 8 hours home with him. I held him in my arms the entire drive home. He didn't stop breathing fast for months. Yes, he is one lucky corgi...but he has given us so much joy, we feel lucky to have found him.

  • Roger/Laurie

Our boys are special.............but I haven't met a corgi that wasn't.  We have the North Carolina Corgi Picnic in a few weeks.  It is always so much fun and corgis everywhere.  I would like my fall shows a lot more if I didn't procrastinate so much in getting ready.  But I have always been a last minute person.

Let us know and send pictures when the new baby arrives

  • Allison

Yes, he kept licking it until it was raw then he couldn't leave it alone. It's all healed now but he still licks when he thinks we aren't looking.

  • WhiteDove

    Have a wonderful day. . . . .
  • Jane Christensen

Congrats on your "soon to be" new babe:)
  • Roger/Laurie

Love the kitty cube pic.  He looks so happy to be home with you.  We are having great weather and the fishing is good.

  • Michelle

Your baby is adorable!  We added a new addtion to the family September 20, 2012.....Let's just say it has been awhile since we have had a puppy and we have been on our toes!  LOL

  • Michelle

We lost our AJ in February and JR in August.  To make a long story short....we got Missy after we lost AJ.  JR was lost without AJ, she was his mother and had literally not been seperated from each other.  He was grieving pretty bad.  He  had DM so emotional ups and downs tended to effect him and his ability to move around etc.  We lost JR to an accident in August.  Missy did not adjust well so we got Sammy......Guess we are just not a one dog family......LOL

  • Jane Christensen

Happy Birthday...hope you had a wonderful day!

  • Tomahawk and Fences

Wilson is such a sweet looking puppy! Puppyhood is fleeting, but all good things are. I'm happy to see he has brought so much joy to you and your family Joyce. I'm sure WInston is looking down on him and keeping a watchful eye. :]

  • Roger/Laurie

So how is  Wilson doing?  Growing fast I bet.  After 2+ months in the sun it has been hard returning to the cold.  Also the boys didn't develop a winter coat in Florida. We left when it was just starting to get cold, so they aren't spending their normal time outside. Next year we will stay longer!!

  • Natalie, Lance &Tucker

    Love the new pics!!

  • Laura and Tommy Jefferson

Hey Joyce, I just realized when I saw your name on the youtube video for the dancing with the stars practice that you were behind Wilson Waddlepants! :) I LOVE your facebook page - Wilson and Girlie are awesome! :) Honored to be your friend on mycorgi.

  • Laura and Tommy Jefferson

Hi Joyce, I have some photos of Tommy on my Facebook but he does not have his own page.  I could never make it as amusing as some of the corgi pages out there! My fav pic of Wilson is the one where he is using girlie as a step stool and standing on top of her haha it's no wonder he has 1000 fans!

  • Zigward & Kimberly

Come back to MyCorgi, Joyce! We love you on here too ;)
